Kurt hung up his phone for the hundredth time that day. He'd been getting call after call asking about Blaine. He had nothing to tell them because he honestly had nothing to tell them. They kept asking what really happened to Blaine and Kurt didn't understand it. When his phone rang again breaking the silence in his at home office he was ready to throw it. Instead, he answered the call ready to hear the same question and give the same answer.
“Mr. Hummel? I'm a nurse at the local general hospital. You're listed under Blaine Anderson's emergency contacts,” some lady said. Kurt's heart dropped and he closed his eyes waiting to hear the words.
“Is he okay?” Kurt asked.
“He was brought in a few minutes ago. You need to get here.”
Kurt hung up his phone and sighed. He stood up, grabbed his car keys and ran out to the front door.
“Kurt? Where are you going in such a rush?” Quinn asked. Rachel was on the couch with a bowl of popcorn and looking at him.
“Blaine...he's...he's in the hospital...”
Quinn's face turned to shock and then sadness. She looked back at Rachel who was already up and grabbing her car keys.
“You'll ride with us,” Rachel said as she took Kurt's hand and they walked outside. The drive to the hospital was silent. Kurt felt like he'd break at any moment. Once they got to the hospital him and Quinn took off into the building while Rachel went to park. Kurt went right up to the front desk to an older woman.
“Hi, I'm Kurt Hummel...I was called for Blaine Anderson...”
“Sure, I just need I.D and then you can go back with the doctor.”
Kurt got his wallet out and showed her in driver's license. She went back to get a doctor and then him and Quinn were led back to some doctor. A young woman stood to the side looking at them.
“Hi, my name is Doctor Landry. I've been with Mr. Anderson since he came in. Follow me,” she said.
“What happened? He was fine just the other day...”
“He was found by somebody, I'm not sure who at the moment, and they called for the ambulance. When he was brought in it was determined that he had overdosed on prescription sleeping pills. We pumped his stomach and got him stable. He'll wake up when he's ready...you guys can go in if you want. Blaine will be evaluated once he is awake and stable.”
“What's going to happen to him?” Quinn asked. Kurt closed his eyes fearing the answer.
“Blaine will have a psychiatric evaluation. We'll determine from there where to go. I'm not a psychologist but I'd say depression is the leading cause in this. It was a suicide attempt...he needs to get help.”
“He'll get the help he needs...” Kurt said. The doctor left and they walked into the room. Blaine was hooked up to machines monitoring everything in his body. Kurt walked swiftly to his side and immediately took Blaine's hand in his.
“I'm so sorry...I'm so, so sorry,” he said as he squeezed Blaine's hand. A hand rested on his shoulder and he looked up into Quinn's eyes. She walked away and pulled a chair next to Kurt's and sat down.
“Kurt...”
“I blew it...I pushed him away and told him to stay out of my life and he did this...I lost him Quinn...”
“No, you didn't. Blaine will be okay...just...are you going to stick around?”
“I don't know...I've given him so many chances already. Why more?”
“Because you love him? Love can withstand anything and you two were meant to be. You're his saving grace Kurt...help him.”
“I'll do what I can...” Kurt replied. He finally let the tears fall and he kissed the knuckles on Blaine's hand.
“Wake up...please...for me?”
