Kurt woke up in an unfamiliar room. He tried to open his eyes to see where he was but his vision was too clouded. He heard voices around him, and he imagined the scene from Harry Potter when Harry fell off his broomsticks because of the dementors. He could just about make out a conversation:

"Mr Lloyd, we are not joking we didn't do this to him!" It sounded as if this boy was trying hard to keep his cool...

"Well, boy let's just say that you were definitely in the wrong place at the wrong time then shall we?" This man's voice was very gruff and Kurt decided he didn't want to get on the wrong side of him.

"Well let's just wait and see what he has to say when he wakes up." Kurt liked the sound of his voice. It was mellow, sweet and just, nice to listen to. Remind me to ask him his name...

With great effort, Kurt willed himself to speak.

"Whas goinonnn?" Smooth Kurt. That wasn't how that was meant to come out.

"Hey, Kurt, how are you feeling?" It was that mellow voice, speaking to him.

"Nee'r betta."

"Mr Hummel? Your voice won't be perfect at the minute, you've been through quite an ordeal." She sounded nice, caring. Like a nurse.

A jolt of realisation shot through him, and suddnely he had a lot more energy. He sat bolt upright, despite the pain and said, "I in hopital?"

"Yes Kurt, you were beaten up a couple of days ago." In any other circumstances that would've been much harder to make it sound was just that boy's voice!

"Can I speak t'you?" Kurt needed to speak to him alone, he trusted him already. There was something about him.

The boy agreed, although the nurse and the old man were slightly more reluctant.

"No I'm afraid not, he needs rest!"

"It'll only be a few minutes, please." He had a hypnotic affect on the nurse because her tone instantly changed to once of a sweeter calibur.

"Only a few minuted then honey. Out, out all of you!"

Being a Harry Potter nerd, Kurt couldn't help comparing her to Madam Pomfrey.

"Kurt do you remember me? I'm Blaine."

Blaine! Yes! He remembered. "Sang Defying Gravity righ?"

"Yeah, yeah I did." He could tell that he was smiling.

"I liked it alot, Blaine. Sing again?"

Blaine began to sing Defying Gravity again. There was no need for talking.

Something has changed within me,

Something is not the same,
I'm through with playing by the rules Of someone else's game

Too late for second-guessing,
Too late to go back to sleep,
It's time to trust my instincts
Close my eyes: and leap!

He was about to start the chorus when everybody filed in to the room again.

Blaine leaned into Kurt and whispered, "Later."
