I Hate School
Chapter 1
The beeping sound of the alarm clock woke Kurt with a start. Groggily Kurt opened an eye to look at the time. 6 am in the morning. With a groan he rolled onto his back, rubbing his eyes lazily. He did not want to get up yet, he wanted to sleep the entire day if he could.
Yesterday was the last day of the summer holiday and today he started school again as a junior. Sure he was looking forward to be in glee with his friends, but the rest of the school was unbearable. He did not look forward to all the slushie facials, the locker shoving or the name calling from the jocks. But he just had to man up and face it, he guessed.
He got out of bed and made his way over to his dresser. He looked like death warmed over; he would need a lot of coffee today to survive school. Normally Kurt wasn’t this tired in the morning, he was a morning person, but today he just couldn’t cut it. With a huff he started his daily morning skin care routine and half on an hour later he was done.
He got up and made it his way over to his closet to find today’s fashionable clothing choice. After contemplating for about another 30 minutes he chose to wear a pair of dark blue skinny jeans, a light blue long sleeved T-shirt, a dark blue vest, a dark blue newsboy cap and a pair of light blue converse to match his shirt. He looked over his outfit with a critical eye before nodding approvingly; the outfit would really match his eyes. He had also chosen a backup outfit if he got slushied today, which he most likely would be. He carefully folded the backup black skinny jeans, white dress shirt, dark grey vest, black jacket, black tie and knee high black boots; into a neat pile to put into his bag later.
He then went over to his full length mirror and started to unbutton the first button on his silk pajamas when he stopped. He quickly threw a look over his shoulder to the door with a frown and without a second thought he went over and locked it. And just for precaution he went over to his window and turned the blinds, in case someone wanted to spy through his window. ‘Damn Kurt, you’re starting to get really paranoid.’ He thought.
But Kurt had a damn good reason to be paranoid. During the summer, the Hudson’s had made up after the basement incident and had decided to move in again, but in order to avoid awkwardness with sharing a room, the Hummel’s had decided to move to a bigger house and soon after Carole and Finn moved in as well. Things had been a little weird at first and a bit tense between him and Finn, but in the end they had become really good friends maybe even brothers.
Kurt smiled at the thought of being a family again, not just him and Burt. Carole was a wonderful woman and she made his father very happy. Kurt was so glad he introduced them to each other, even if it was to get closer to his crush. Kurt shuddered at that thought. ‘Yes brilliant idea Kurt Hummel, share a room with a boy that could easily see your back if you’re not careful.’
But it didn’t matter. Finn hadn’t seen his back and neither had Carole. His Dad had been worried about keeping this a secret from them, but Kurt simply wasn’t ready for them to know yet. So just for precaution he locked his door, because Finn had developed a nasty habit of barging in to his room without knocking and more then often Kurt had been caught off guard. Luckily so far Finn hadn’t seen it, but he wouldn’t let his guard down just yet, after all Finn was kind of unpredictable. Finn was probably not even up yet, but it didn’t hurt to be careful.
With a sigh Kurt undid his shirt and let it fall to the floor with a soft thump. Slowly he turned around and looked over his shoulder into the full length mirror. There they were the markings of an Arch-human. The veins started from underneath each shoulder, sides, end of the neck and lower back and gathered in to two spots between his shoulder blades. They kinda looked like two flowers on his back but without the beautiful colors or shape. But he was relieved that they weren’t colorful, he remembered when he was young, the veins were a deep shade of blue and they pulsed ever so slightly. But when he grew up, plus adding a skin care routine to minimize so called stretch marks for his back, they faded quite a lot. They were still a bit blue in the middle and still stood raised against his skin, but at least they weren’t as noticeable as others’ had been.
Thinking about it, it didn’t make much sense that his markings were controllable compared to others, considering what he was. After all Kurt was a Pure One, he had been born with the markings and he had grown a pair of white wings just 6 months after his birth. His parents were both proud and horrified, the potential danger it implies caused them a lot of stress. They had called the PAHP as soon as they could determine Kurt’s color and they had acted right away. This was huge for them; a new born baby had been born with markings and had white wings. Kurt had been placed in one of the highest security programs and his name was even more guarded then the rest of the Arch-humans that were protected by the PAHP.
Every month they visited or called, asking questions about his family, friends, school and future plans. Simply making sure Kurt felt safe and if he was in need of a bodyguard. But Kurt would never ask for such a thing, he didn’t need to be protected. He didn’t want to be suffocated by some stranger, nor did he want to be stared at by the rest of school because of it. Besides if he showed up with a bodyguard, people would put two and two together and figure out what he was.
Biting his lip Kurt let his thought wonder around the thoughts of being outed to school as an Arch-human and the thought scared him. He was different from the rest of the other Arch-humans and that often caught the wrong people’s attention. It already happened once when he was still a kid. A guy had come to their home and promptly asked to BUY him from his parents for a big sum of money. His Dad had knocked the guy out with punch straight to the jaw and afterwards they had called the PAHP to help them sort out this mess, trying to figure out how this guy had gotten his name.
Apparently one of the nurses that had been present during his birth and been careless when talking to people about it and one of them were simply of the wrong sort. She hadn’t fared well after the PAHP was through with her and after that day a new form of protection protocol had been put up in maternity wards around hospitals across the country. Doctors and nurses now had to swear professional secrecy when it came to birth of babies, no longer could they gush about it like they could before.
With a heavy sigh Kurt finished undressing and put on his outfit and fixed his hair. Glancing at the clock he saw the time was 7.15 and he still had time to make something to eat before school. Putting the spare outfit in his bag and double checked to see if he had all the necessary books, he unlocked his door and went down to the kitchen. He started the coffee machine and took out ingredients for pancakes. Normally he wouldn’t eat something like that but he needed some sugar and simply didn’t care right now what it would do to his skin if he went overboard with it.
Bringing the batter to the stove, he took out a frying pan and started flipping pancakes; he had enough batter for at least three persons. He and Finn started school at 8 and his dad started work at 9, Carole had already left for work as she started at 7. She even left a note saying she would work late today, meaning that Kurt had make dinner tonight, since only she and Kurt had the skill enough to make something edible. Not that his Dad didn’t know how to cook, he just was too simple in it and didn’t add enough nutrition. Often than not he just threw in some micro dinner and served, but Kurt wouldn’t stand for all that fat, it wasn’t healthy and his Dad shouldn’t eat it.
Suddenly the sound of steps was heard in the hallway and Finn walked in to the kitchen with a yawn. “Morning, Finn.” Kurt greeted and put the last pancake on the plate and carried it to the already laid table.
“Morning, Dude.” Yawned Finn and rubbed his eyes. He then felt the smell and quickly saw the plate with pancakes on the table. “Oh my god, Pancakes!”
He quickly took a seat, picked up his fork and took three pancakes at once onto his plate; he then covered them up with jam and sugar and started to eat with vigor. Kurt scrunched up his nose in at the mess he made. “You are such a boy Finn; must you slobber all over the table like that? I just cleaned it.” He said with a huff. Finn just gave him a grin and continued eating.
Shaking his head Kurt sat down at the table with his cup of coffee and started to eat his own pancakes. No matter how many times he told Finn to at least eat slower and not throw food across the room with his vigorous eating, he never listened. But Finn wouldn’t really be Finn if he was overly clean and calm like him and when thinking about it he wouldn’t want it in any other way. He had gotten over his crush on him since last year and thinking back about it, he couldn’t understand why he had it in the first place. The whole thing was just stupid but he couldn’t regret it since he got something better out of it in the end, a family. A small smile graced his face at that thought as his Dad made his way into the kitchen and over to the coffee machine.
“Morning, Kurt, Finn.” He greeted and grabbed a plate.
“Morning, Dad.”
“Morning, Burt.”
“So you kids looking forward to start school again?” Burt asked and sipped on his coffee.
“Yeah, I missed seeing the guys and do stuff like we always do in school, sure I’m not looking forward to homework and other things, but it’s still great.” Finn answered truthfully. Kurt just sighed quietly to himself but Burt heard it.
“Kurt?”
Kurt looked up at his father’s concerned face. “I’m fine; it’s just…uh well.” He trailed off.
“The bullies” Burt finished for him with a frown.
Kurt looked at him for a bit before answering quietly. “Yeah. Them.”
“Look Kurt if you want me to go down there and have a talk again with your principle, I will!”
“No! It’s ok Dad you don’t have to do that, besides it’s not like they do anything anyway.”
Burt growled in annoyance. “That man shouldn’t be principal if can’t even put a stop to some bullies without trying. It shouldn’t be that hard, just put a lock on the dumpsters, get rid of the slushie machine, give detentions.” He listed off, getting angrier for every second.
“Dad!”
“Burt calm down!”
Burt took a deep breath and once again growled quietly for himself. “I’m calm; I just get so angry with the ignorance of that school.”
“You and me both Dad.” Answered Kurt and ate the last piece of pancake on his plate.
“Yeah there isn’t much you can do about it really.” Finn said and looked a bit ashamed. As if he finally understood what a problem it was.
“I know! It just makes me so frustrated.” He sighed heavily. They sat in silence for a few seconds. “So this is what we’ll gonna do. Kurt, you will tell me if things get bad at school and when I say *bad* I mean BAD, ok?”
“Yes Dad.” Kurt said with a sigh.
“And Finn, you will look out for your brother for me, got it?”
Finn looked shocked for a bit for being called Kurt’s brother, but he only smiled and replied. “I will Burt. Don’t worry.”
Burt nodded approvingly. “Good, you both look after each other. No you better get going before you get late.”
Kurt glanced at the kitchen clock at the wall, the time read 7.35. “Damn, Finn hurry we need to get going.” He said and got up and put his things in the sink and gathered his things. “Bye Dad.”
“Bye Burt.” Finn said over his shoulder as he followed Kurt out to the car.
“Bye kids, have good day at school.” Burt called after them as Finn and Kurt closed the door and entered their car and drove off.
The car ride was mostly quiet, except for when a familiar song on the radio came up and they both sung along with it. Only when they started to get close to school did Finn speak up. “You know that I’m sorry right?”
“What?” Asked Kurt confused from the driver’s seat.
“You know, from last year and how badly I and the others treated you.” Finn mumbled, staring at his feet.
Kurt’s face softened as he glanced at Finn from the corner of his eye. “Yes Finn I know.”
“I know I haven’t really been there for you as I should have, but I’m gonna try for you now ok?”
“I know Finn and I appreciate it. I know there isn’t much you can do if the rest of the school refuses to change and perhaps it was a bit naïve of me to expect you all to stand up for me when you had problems of your own. But I’m happy that you’ll try for me Finn, I really am. And just having someone standing by me and not letting me face everything alone is enough.” Kurt said and gave Finn a smile as he parked the car.
“Well even though there’s not much I can do to change people I can still help you get passed the dumpster dives, even if they’re…what word is it Rachel uses again. Oh right scarce, they’re scarce since last year.” Finn answered with a determined look.
Kurt just smiled. “Thank you Finn.”
They got out of the car and made their way over to the school. Finn then laid a firm hand on Kurt’s shoulder and steered him past the jocks standing by the dumpster, looking at them. Giving them a glare as the jocks groaned in disappointment when they walked past them.
Kurt stared up at the building where he would spend another 2 years in before he could finally leave for good. ‘It’s ShowTime, so bring it.’
(--)
The door was slammed shut as Blaine Anderson stepped out of the car and looked up at his new school. NEW school, now that brought a foul taste in his mouth, he couldn’t exactly say that he enjoyed the last one but at least there he had the respect he had built up over the years. Here he would have to start all over again from the bottom. Well at least he wasn’t alone this time and looked at his friends that stepped out of his car with him.
He had met Wes, David, Jeff and Nick at his old school. At first one wouldn’t have guessed they could become friends, but after they got to know each other they hit it off. Wes and David had known each other since they were kids, since their parents were friends.
Wes was that typical smart Asian stereotype, with good grades and great manners, he was a member of nearly all the important clubs at the old school and he was the teachers’ favorite. But he wasn’t spoiled or snobby in anyway nor was he tattle-tale that got many kids in trouble. No he’d rather talk to people and make them reconsider the things they do, to make sure they won’t suffer for their own actions. He was kinda like the law and order amongst them and even if he liked to stick by the rules, he could break them as long as no-one got hurt or they did something illegal. He was sometimes a bit boring if one didn’t stop him and that was what David was for.
Now David was that typical laid back guy, he did his homework but didn’t obsess. His motto was to take it easy and don’t stress, because stressing never helped anyone and things always worked out in the end anyway. He was Wes’s right hand and was always the one that could convince Wes to join them in something stupid and making him set loose a little. David was that guy whom everyone liked and often than not he was the one that could calm down a fight with just a couple of words. He was cool and there were really no other words to describe him.
Jeff on the other hand was not cool. At first he was that typical shy guy, kind of a geek, liked to read a lot of comics off all genre and he adored fantasy books. He was also an expert on video games of all kind and could easily kick your butt in any of them. But he didn’t really have that many friends when he grew up so he became that quiet guy that everyone picked on. He was constantly brought down and every single time someone was cruel to him the more withdrawn he became. The bullying got so bad they had moved on to physical ways to make him suffer. Every day they got worse and one day Jeff was surrounded by 4 guys that were going to beat him up. That was when Jeff first met Nick
Nick was that typical sports fanatic, he played football, soccer, basketball, lacrosse, boxing and fencing. But unlike other jocks he was accepting, gentle and kind. He would never hurt someone smaller than him and always tried to help when he could and didn’t care what people thought of him afterwards. He was the one who saw those 4 guys beat poor Jeff up that day after lacrosse practice and he had swooped in saved him. And since that day they had never been apart. They became best friends and later on lovers.
Nick was known to everyone for being bisexual and had even dated some, but Jeff however had never had anyone and had therefore never figured out what was his type. But Jeff knew he was in love with Nick and couldn’t see himself with anyone else, both women and men were uninteresting for him. They determined that Jeff was pansexual for Nick would probably be so for a long time. Nick understanding how important he had become for the quiet boy had made sure to always be there for him and soon enough even he could return those feelings. Things had been rough at first with Jeff’s family, so he had to stay with Nick for a while before they finally realized that it didn’t matter to them what Jeff was or who he loved as long as he was happy.
Nick’s family was more accepting of the boys and had helped them when things in school became heavy but they pulled it through. Nick helped Jeff grow more as a person and soon Jeff had become a stronger and much more confident individual and that was how Blaine had met them and became friends with them.
Blaine was that typical badboy type. At first when he had started freshman year at school he was more of a quiet kid himself. He had this *don’t mess with me and I won’t mess with you* aura and so at first he was left alone. Until one day at lunch Jeff had suddenly sat down at his table and started talking to him. Blaine was surprised that the kid had the guts to sit with him, considering how skittish he looked, but Jeff had gone from that shy quiet kid to the more confident curious kid and wasn’t afraid to ask questions, especially not to Blaine.
At first Blaine tried to ignore Jeff, hoping he would leave but he was persistent in befriending him. When annoyance and curiosity had become enough he had asked him why and Jeff had simply answered that Blaine had looked lonely could use a friend. Only when he had met Nick and found out that they were lovers did Blaine let them in a bit and they became friends.
It was later when that year when they had to do some school project in one of the classes that they met Wes and David, and soon all 5 of them hit it off and became best friends a group to be weary off. It was so unusual and weird that it held and it was stronger than most of the others in school. Blaine was the leader of the group and he made sure no-one messed with them.
No despite his badboy image he wasn’t a bad kid. He never skipped his homework and had perfect attendance. He wasn’t stupid, he knew if he wanted to get out of Ohio one day and go to college he needed good grades, he wasn’t going to throw his future away for a popular reputation. So how could he then be considered a badass if he didn’t do something stereotypical like other badboys?
He was never afraid to say what he thought about things or others. If you were wearing ugly pants he told you, if the girl you were dating was a bimbo he told you, if he simply didn’t give a shit about your opinion he told you. And if guys tried to mess with him, he beat the shit out of them. But he wasn’t a bad kid. He never messed with the lower kids on the social ladder; he never bullied anyone simply because he knew how that felt. Instead he messed around with the other bullies or simply those who pissed him off.
Cutting them down with his brutal honest tongue or played pranks with them flirted with the guys girlfriends or sometimes even the straight guys just to piss them off. People liked to call him the geeks’ hero, the guy who stood up for the lower ranks. But he wasn’t a hero; he didn’t talk to them or even stood by them. If he simply saw a guy being a bully he didn’t go check if the person that was bullied was ok, no he went straight to the bully. Telling them either that he didn’t like them trying to be top dog or he simply humiliated them to make them feel what if felt like to be laughed at. Or sometimes he even managed to dig up some dirt on them and spread rumors or even blackmail them.
Either way he made his way to the top of the food chain and no-one messed with him. Sure he got his fair share of detentions, but since he had good grades and perfect attendance the teachers couldn’t really do anything about it. He didn’t vandalize property and he avoided brawling on school property or in broad day light. It had happened at several times that he was cornered by some jocks that wanted to teach him a lesson only to have it blown back at them. Blaine knew kick-boxing and some light martial arts and he worked out every day to some extend so he wasn’t weak in anyway. Maybe because he was so short and had a small figure did people underestimate him and Blaine preferred if they did, because then his odds were better. Blaine knew he wasn’t stupid, he knew he wasn’t invincible and could easily be beaten if he was careless, that’s why he made sure to not go places alone, that he always had his friends with him.
His friends were important to him and if anyone messed with them he broke his own rules and would start a fight right then and there, not taking the location or time in mind. So far he had been lucky not to get caught fighting but he knew it was only a matter of time until someone did. But it didn’t matter as long as his friends were ok he was ok. That was why they all were here right now.
His old school had had some financial problems because the principal had fiddled around with the money so the school had gone bankrupt and had to be shut down. Since they didn’t want to be separated they had all sat down and discussed which school they all could go to together that was in vicinity. And that had led them here to McKinley High for their junior year and so far from what he had seen, he wasn’t impressed.
“Are you still angry, Blaine?” Asked Wes as he came up to stand by him and took a look at the new school with a critical eye. Blaine just huffed in annoyance again.
“Stop mopping Blaine and relax bro, it’s not so bad, who knows perhaps you’ll like this place.” David said, taking their bags out of the trunk and handed them out.
“Well I for one am looking forward to see what sport clubs they have and I’m gonna join them.” Nick said with a grin. “And besides isn’t this the school where they have the cheerleading team that won several Regional and National Championships?”
Wes and David whooped at that and gave each other a high five. Blaine just gave him a pointed look. “I’m gay Nick.”
“Yeah duh, I know that and I also know that they have MALE cheerleaders as well. So you do get some eye candy.”
Blaine just rolled his eyes and muttered something about not being into stuck-up cheerleaders.
“Well I for one don’t care where we are as long as we are together. After all we decided this together, remember? And besides Blaine, it was you who suggested McKinley when you saw that it was the only school close enough to all of us, except for that Dalton school with the nice anti-bullying policy and VERY expensive tuition.” Jeff said, brushing his shoulder against Nick’s giving him a smile that was returned.
“Yes Jeff I know, but still. I don’t like the fact that we went from the top and now we have to make our way up there again in this school.” Blaine sighed as they started to make their way up to the school.
“Oh lighten up will ya; all you ever think about is keeping us and yourself high in the social ladder all the time. Relax a bit and be a teenager, do something fun for a change that doesn’t involve humiliation or pranking.” David said and threw an arm over Blaine shoulder, trying to make his point made.
“David is right Blaine. You need to meet someone. Now I know there weren’t any gay guys at the last school or at least some that were out but perhaps you’ll meet the one here.” Wes replied.
“In Lima, Ohio, Yeah right.”
“Oh c’mon man, don’t be so negative. All you need is some loving and all those sour thoughts go away.” Nick smirked.
Jeff nodded vigorously. “Yeah and who knows, perhaps we don’t even need to climb the social ladder here. Perhaps the kids are nicer here than in the last school.”
Suddenly a scream filled the air as a pair of jocks carried a geek to the dumpsters. “Please, not the dumpster.” He pleaded, but they didn’t listen and threw him in the trash.
“Enjoy your morning in the garbage, NERD.” They laughed and went back up the school, leaving the poor kid to climb out of the dumpster covered in leftover food.
Jeff eeped and hid slightly behind Nick as he stared wide eyed after the jocks that retreated back to the building. Nick just glanced down on his boyfriend and put a protective arm around his shoulder and gave him a squeeze. Jeff sighed as he relaxed into the comfortable half embrace.
Wes and David stared in horror of what they had just seen, but Blaine just glared at the jocks. “Yeah, nicer kids.” He muttered.
“Oh my god!” Jeff gasped feeling a sense of panic filling him up; this reminded him of how he was treated before.
“Hey, hey calm down! I won’t let them hurt you ok?” Nick said trying to calm his boyfriend down.
“Man that’s just messed up, if that is how they bully kids at this school then they seriously have some problems.” David frowned.
“I believe so David and it looks like it’s only the beginning, there’s no telling what else they do.” Wes supplied, Blaine frowned.
“Oh no! What if, what if they try to throw me into the dumpster? I mean I’m a geek and that guy was a geek and clearly they don’t like geeks.” Squeaked Jeff, trying to sink deeper into Nick’s embrace.
“Hey! I said I wouldn’t let them hurt you.”
“But what if they try to hurt you!!?”
“I WON’T LET THAT HAPPEN.” Blaine shouted, interrupting Jeff’s panicked blabber. His friends looked at him with wide eyes.
“I won’t let them hurt any of you, if they want to then they have to go through me! And it’s like you said Jeff. We’re in this together, have in the past and we will in the future. Perhaps we really won’t need or can’t reach the top, as long as we stick together we’ll be fine, alright?” Blaine looked at them for confirmation.
Smiling they nodded their heads and they continued their path up to school. “Alright, let’s see what we’re dealing with here.” Blaine said and took the lead.
(--)
“Hey White-boy, you manage to get past the jocks?” Mercedes asked as she came up to Kurt’s locker, looking as fabulous as ever.
Kurt gave her a grin and nodded his head. “Yeah Finn helped me get past them this morning. He’s finally trying to man up and help me.”
“It’s about time Tall-boy did something. I can only cut the jocks as many times before it loses its edge.” Mercedes scowled. Kurt just shook his head with a sigh. “Well anyway, I need to get to class, see ya later in glee Boo.” She waved and walked down the hallway. Kurt just gave her a lazy wave before taking out his books, glancing at the clock. He had about 7 minutes to get to class.
He hoisted the books up in his arms and made his way down the hallway and just when he was about to round the corner to the right, he was shoved roughly into the wall, his books clattering to the ground as a jock lazily made his way down the hall. Kurt glared after him and rubbed his sore arm, that wasn’t a locker-slam, it was a wall-slam and it hurt more than former. Crouching down he picked up his books, grumbling about stupid Neanderthals and their violent behavior.
Standing up he made sure his books were secure in his arms, but before he could even take a step a body just rounded the corner and slammed straight into him, making the books once again fall to the ground. Growling quietly to himself he crouched down to pick them up again. The body above just snarled in anger, telling HIM to watch where HE was GOING! His inner Mercedes screamed. ‘Aww, Hell to the Naw.’
(--)
They had only been in there for 5 minutes and so far from what Blaine had seen, he didn’t like this at all. He saw tons of people he just wanted to slap, so his mood had dropped even further than before so now he was quietly seething.
“Well it’s different I tell you that, this won’t be easy.” Wes muttered as they made their way through the crowded hallway.
“It’s a long shot from the old school, yes but we just have to stay positive and everything will be fine.” David supplied, trying to lighten up the mood.
As they made their way down the corridor, trying to find the principal’s office, Jeff gingerly found Nick’s hand and interlocked their fingers. Nick just smiled and squeezed his hand back gently. But their actions didn’t go unnoticed as a group of girls saw them and immediately started whisper and pointing at them.
Blaine snarled at them in a very undignified manner and the girls shrieked and took off down the hallway. Turning around he frowned slightly at Nick and Jeff’s hands, they flinched. “You know I’m all for your love guys, but perhaps you shouldn’t do that, just yet. We just got here and the last thing we need is to paint a red mark on or backs, just because these homophobic bastards clearly don’t accept people like us.”
Sighing heavily they let go of each other and Jeff immediately hugged himself like he did when he felt insecure. Wes and David stared sadly at them.
“Look you guys, you know I’m just trying to look out for you right?”
“Yes Blaine we know.” Jeff answered. “It’s just a bit unfair that’s all.” He finished with a sigh. David came up behind them and gingerly patted their shoulders.
“C’mon guys let’s just find the principal’s office, alright?” He said.
“Yeah before we get late.” Wes supplied as they once again made their way down the hallway.
“Look Nick, Jeff, you guys just need to hold out for a week or two. After we get to know the place first, know who runs the place, who to look out for and so on. Then when we’re more familiar with the place, you two can make-out as much as you like and terrify the other students with your affection.” Blaine said as he observed the other students with glare.
Jeff and Nick grinned. “Ok, sure. But only if you promise to swap spit with a sweetheart of your own as well.” Nick said with a smirk. Making Wes and David laugh and Blaine roll his eyes and sigh.
“Not that again you guys.”
“Oh, c’mon don’t be so negative Blaine, have some faith man.” David said.
“Yeah, there’s bound to be at least ONE gay guy here.” Wes replied, trying to be logical. Blaine sighed again.
“Wes, the chances of there being another gay guy in this school is close to zero, so drop it.” Blaine answered with a growl. ‘Besides even if there were another gay guy in this school closeted or not, doesn’t mean they’re my type.’ He thought bitterly and quickened his pace.
Blaine had in fact seen and met other gay guys at the shadier places and none of them caught his eye. Either they were too old, still in the closet, in denial or to weak for his taste. He also noticed a lot of them weren’t really good looking either, but that didn’t really matter in the long run when love was involved. So far the only cute gay guy he had met in almost his age, still didn’t interest him. Sure he was cute, funny and kind, but his eyes were weak. Meaning he wouldn’t stand up for himself.
Sure he didn’t expect a guy to kick ass like he could, but he wanted a person that at least could be themselves. One that was proud to show the world who they really are. He admired strength, just looking at Jeff and Nick made him more positive in what he wanted. But the chances of running into that person in Ohio were small, so he would have to wait. Besides he had other things to think of right now, the bullies for example.
He had seen a lot of jocks, cheerleaders and geeks in this school, so it was clear that this was a stereotypical kind of school, with its own social ladder and it was gonna be hard to keep themselves from the bottom of the food chain. ‘If any of them messes with me or mine, they’ll get it.’ He thought with growl and rounded the corner to the left and slammed straight into a body. Being in a foul mood already this took the cake. “HEY, watch where you’re going!” He snarled. But the person he had walked into was crouching on the ground, picking up his books that he had dropped and the words that were coming out of his mouth was so sarcastic that even a deaf person could’ve heard them.
Blaine glared as he took in the person insulting him. It was a boy, a boy with a very high voice! And he was wearing a pair of skin tight jeans, a tight long sleeved T-shirt and vest over that, a hat and a pair of converse. The boy was fashionable, very fashionable.
Suddenly the boy stood up, his books secured in his arms and Blaine could finally see his face. And gone was the anger and a smirk replaced it. ‘Why hello, Gorgeous,’
(--)
Kurt couldn’t believe the nerve of this boy, accusing Kurt of walking into him. Oh no, he didn’t. Kurt’s day was already not looking so good and if this guy believes he can walk away without some bitchin. He was wrong. “Oh, I’m SO sorry, for WALKING into you! I was just STANDING here picking up my books that I had dropped. I could impossibly have been WALKING into YOU in this crouching position. Nor could I have had the time to begin WALKING, since I just STOOD up before YOU WALKED into ME. But again I’m SO sorry for WALKING into YOU.” Kurt growled as he picked up the last of his book and stood up to look at the guy that had walked into him and froze.
Who was this guy? Kurt had never seen him before and even if he had didn’t recognize everyone at this school; he most certainly would have noticed this guy. He was a typical badboy. He was wearing a pair of faded and ripped jeans, a tight white tank top, a leather jacket and a pair of big black boots. His hair was slicked back with hair gel; he had a stud black dumbbell earring in the corner of his right eyebrow, three small black stud earrings in the right earlobe, a black hoop earring in the left earlobe and two black hoop earrings in the helix.
Kurt swore to Lady Gaga that the guy probably had a tattoo somewhere on his body as well. But the one thing he noticed the most was the guy’s eyes, they were in a warm hazel color. The guy was handsome. ‘Oh no, of all the guys to go all diva on just had to be good looking and…why is he smirking like that!!?’
The guy was smirking at him in kinda leery way. ‘Aw crap, he probably figured out that I’m gay and now I’m gonna be stalked by this guys and his friends for the rest of the year, being harassed and taunted by them all the way. Thank you so much you damn non-existent God,’ Kurt groaned silently to himself.
“It’s ok, I’ll forgive ya for WALKING into me,” Mr. Badboy suddenly said. Wait what? Kurt stared at him for a second before taking in his friends. The blond boy and the black haired boy stood huddled together, trying to muffle their snickering, the black boy looked amused and the Asian simply just looked annoyed and was rubbing his temple with his hand and sighed.
“If…” The guy continued, catching Kurt’s attention.
“If… you go out with me this Friday!” He finished.
Wait…..WHAT???
The blond boy and the black haired boy were now smiling, and so was the black boy, the Asian just looked shocked at his friend. Was this some kind of joke?
“Excuse me?” Kurt asked perplexed and shocked. That was not what he had been expecting, what the hell was going on?
“You heard me. You, me, dinner. So what do you say, Gorgeous?” Mr. Badboy continued with that leery smirk.
Oh why the cheeky little. Who the hell did he think he was? This was probably a joke, the guy was probably straight and this was a way to enact his revenge for talking back. And if the guy was gay, he was totally rude; he had walked into him, accused him of doing it and then suddenly asking him out on a date without even apologizing or even properly introducing himself.
Kurt glared, so what if the guy was handsome. Kurt had learned from last year to not judge a book by its cover. Finn had been a good example of it and how much it could hurt if he wasn’t careful. So if this guy thinks he could just waltz in here and treat him like that and then just ask him out! Think again. Kurt was better than that.
“Excuse me, but you must mistake me for someone that’s stupid and desperate. And I’m neither so if you think you can just walk in here, walk into me, knock my books to the ground, blame me for it and then suddenly ask me out AND expect me to say yes! Then you must be the one that’s stupid. No-one messes with me like that and gets away with it, so I’ll take a page from my girl Mercedes’ book and just say *Aww, Hell to the Naw, boy*” Kurt answered and snapped his finger at Mr. Badboy’s face. And he looked shocked; he most defiantly had NOT seen that one coming. ‘Ha in your face boy, feel the wrath of the Diva.’
The blond boy and the black haired boy suddenly burst out laughing, clutching to each other to not fall over on the ground in hysterics, the black boy chuckled heartily and gave Kurt a grin and the Asian boy looked impressed. The black boy then patted the badboy’s shoulder and said. “Oh burned Blaine, you just got burned man.” And laughed.
So his name was Blaine. Kurt resisted smiling at the black boy’s comment and said. “Well, I must get to class, so if you’ll excuse me.” And with that Kurt walked around them and made his way down the hallway to the right, when suddenly the Asian boy spoke up.
“Wait! I know our friend was rude and I apologize but could you please tell us where the principal’s office is?” He asked.
Kurt sighed and looked at them. They didn’t seem angry with him or insincere at all. And Mr. Badboy was now looking at him in some kind of awe. Huh?
“Just walk straight down that corridor and down the stairs on the left at the end, the principal’s office is right at end of the stairs. You can’t miss it.” Kurt answered and then walked away to his class, he was late. ‘What a weird morning.’
(--)
After the Diva boy disappeared down the corridor did Jeff, Nick, David and Wes burst out laughing again, and Blaine huffed in annoyance. Jeff then threw his arms around Blaine’s neck and grin in his face. “You’re such a smooth talker Blaine; I didn’t realize how irresistible you were.”
“Knock it off!” Blaine snapped and pouted.
“No way, we’re gonna tease you with this for all eternity. Ho man you should have seen your face when he told you off. That was the funniest shit I have ever seen.” Nick laughed.
“Well at least now we know that there ARE in fact other gay guys here, or at least ONE gay guy.” Wes said and chuckled a bit.
“To bad that he doesn’t like you.” David smirked and bumped his hip with Blaine’s.
Blaine just shrugged. “Eh, he’ll come around. He won’t be able to resist me for long, you’ll see.”
“Uh-huh. You don’t say.” Wes said, unconvinced.
“Let’s just find that office.” Blaine mumbled.
And true to Diva Boy’s word, the office was down the stairs right at the end. They went in and introduced themselves; Principal Figgins gave them their schedules, locker combinations and some of the books they would use, the rest they would get from the other teachers.
“I don’t get it why the principal is the one taking care of dealing out schedules and books.” David asked puzzled and checked his new schedule.
“I blame this school’s crappy budget.” Blaine replied and sighed heavily to see they had history first and they were already 10 minutes late for it.
“It doesn’t matter guys, let’s just get to history before we get in trouble. I’m never late for class and we’re already late on the first day, that’s not good.” Wes said stressed, trying to remember the directions they got from the principal on how to find the history class.
“Calm down, Wes don’t worry, we’re new so we can use that as an excuse, I don’t think they can…Oh My God!” Nick trailed off and stared ahead in shock. The other quickly followed his eyes and saw what made him freeze up.
There standing by the lockers, picking out her books was an Arch-human. She was wearing a knee length light green flowy dress with straps and a pair of short mockaboots. She had pale but beautiful skin, shin length wavy ginger hair, slightly freckled cheeks and light green eyes. And in between her shoulder blades sprouted a pair of light pink wings. They were big, at least 8 or 9 feet in length; it was hard to tell since they were not stretched out.
“I’ve never seen an Arch-human before.” Whispered David, staring at the winged human in awe, Jeff and Nick looked at her in wonder while Wes just looked shocked.
Blaine had seen an Arch-human before, but never in Ohio. It was not often they showed their wings in public, especially in a place like Lima. She had a lot of guts to show her wings without a care like that. But when he looked closer in her eyes Blaine saw the defeat in them, the broken spirit. This girl hasn’t had an easy life, he could tell.
Suddenly she spotted them staring at her and she gasped quietly before quickly making her way into a classroom.
“Wow.” Jeff breathed.
“Yeah, you can say that again.” Nick agreed.
“C’mon guys, it was really rude of us to stare like that and we really need to get going.” Wes urged and pushed them along to the history class at the end of the corridor.
“Sorry.” Both Jeff and Nick said. Blaine just grunted in response.
“She was really beautiful.” David mumbled and looked over his shoulder as they passed the classroom she had walked into. The rest just rolled their eyes and entered history. They excused themselves and took a seat. Today was gonna be a long day.
(--)
“Hey, Kurt” Kurt had someone call and saw Tina, Mercedes and Mike coming his way. Mike and Tina were holding hands, figures they would become a couple, but it still brought a small smile to his face.
“Hey guys.” He greeted, walking up to them.
“Have your day been good so far White-boy?” Mercedes asked, locking her arm with his.
“So far at least, but you won’t believe what happened after you left this morning ‘Cedes!”
“Oh, what happened?” Both Tina and Mercedes gushed, making Mike roll his eyes.
“Well. After you left Mercedes, I was making my way to my French when some Neanderthal pushed me into a wall making drop my books.” Kurt started, making both Mercedes and Tina throw angry words at the news of the stupid jock, even Mike looked angry. “Well anyways, after I had picked them, this GUY suddenly rounded the corner and walked straight into, making me drop my books again and then he snapped at me for WALKING into him.”
“Oh Hell NO, I will find this boy and cut him.” Mercedes hissed, her inner Diva was unleashed.
“But that was not the shocking part, right after I had picked up my books again and stood up. The GUY just smirked at me and then he asked me out.” Kurt continued. The reaction was instant silence.
“Wait, What?!!” The girls shouted.
“Are you serious?” Mike asked, clearly surprised.
“Dead serious.”
“So what did you say?” Tina asked eagerly.
“I said no of course.”
“What? Why?” Mercedes demanded. Kurt just stared at her with a raised eyebrow.
“Are you serious Mercedes? The guy walked into me, knocked down my books, yelled at me and then asked me out and he didn’t even apologize. He was totally rude.” Kurt pointed out.
“Yeah but the guy asked you out, maybe that was his way of apologizing and who knows perhaps he likes you Kurt. And we all know you’re lonely, perhaps this is your chance.” Tina reasoned.
“Are you kidding me? You didn’t see this guy, he screamed heterosexual.” Kurt said.
“Why?” Mike Asked.
“He was the definition of Badass; he had more piercings than Puck and looked like he stepped out of the movie Grease. I’m pretty sure him asking me out, was just his way of enacting some kind of cruel joke.” Kurt huffed, readjusting his bag on his shoulder.
“But what if he wasn’t Kurt? What if the guy was gay and really did want to date you?” Mercedes continued, giving her boy a pointed look.
“If and then I say *if* he were gay it wouldn’t have mattered. Despite to popular belief, I don’t dig Badboys, because if I did I would have been in love with Puck.” Kurt sighed in annoyance.
“Wait, you’re in love with Puck?” Tina asked shocked.
“What? No. I said I WOULD be in love with Puck IF I digged Badboys, which I DON’T.” Kurt explained.
“Calm down White-boy we get it. We’re just saying that if this guy is gay and likes you, you should at least give him a chance and get yourself a man in the process.” Mercedes replied.
“Well I won’t. The guy was rude and I deserve better. Besides, a boy like that only means trouble.” Kurt humphed.
“Want me to keep an eye out for him or something.” Mike asked, a bit concerned.
“That’s very kind of you Mike, but no it’s Ok, I can take care of myself.” Kurt said and gave him a smile. “Now enough about that, did you girls read the latest vogue?”
And just like that they moved on from the topic and discussed the latest in fashion and who had the worst clothing, except for Rachel of course. Suddenly Kurt spotted someone. “You guys go ahead I’ll see you in class ok?”
He made his way through the crowd until he stood by the girl he had spotted. “Hello, Amelia.” He said with a gentle voice.
The Arch-human identified as Amelia turned around in surprise but relaxed as she saw who it was and gave Kurt a tiny smile. “Hello Kurt.” She said with a quiet voice.
“How are you doing?” He asked with the same gentle voice he always used around her. Kurt was the only person around this school she considered her friend. She could talk to the rest of the guys in glee club but she still avoided it. But it wasn’t easy to become her friend, at first she was shy and withdrawn and didn’t speak to him but with some stubbornness he had warmed himself into her heart.
Maybe because he was the only person that never looked or treated her different, he saw her just as she wanted to be seen. Like normal.
Or maybe deep down inside she knew that Kurt was just like her and understood how she was feeling. But she didn’t know what he was, no-one knew except for his Dad.
“I’m Ok, just a little nervous for the new school year.” Amelia answered again in that quiet voice.
“Any luck with finding new parents at the orphanage?” Kurt asked in honest curiosity. Her shoulders visibly slumped.
“No. Not yet.” She whispered.
“Don’t worry, they will come and you will find a family. Trust me.” Kurt said sincerely, softly patted her shoulder. Amelia only gave him a tired smile in return. “You know, if you feel lonely you can just join glee with us and have some company.”
“Kurt I don’t I can…”
“Hey, hey no it’s ok. You don’t have to join if you don’t want to, I’m just saying that if you joined we could spend more time with each other and you could get more friends that all.” Kurt cut her off and gave her a smile.
“I’ll think about it.” She softly said and returned the smile.
“Ok, see you later, Amelia.” Kurt said and made his way to his next class.
(--)
“What a boring class. I had expected more, history shouldn’t be boring.” Wes huffed as they got out of class.
“Uh, Wes? I’m pretty sure that history is supposed to be boring, that’s what it has been in other schools throughout time.” David chuckled and walked up next to him.
“Yeah, yeah, but not that boring.” Wes complained.
“Hey guys! I found a bulletin board with signups for different clubs, c’mon.” Nick shouted and took off they others following close behind. “Here look see and look they got football! I’m so signing up for that, too bad that they don’t have lacrosse though, that’s bull.”
Nick took the pen and signed his name on the football signup sheet. The others scanned the sheets to see if there was anything interesting. Wes signed up for chess club and chemistry club but the others couldn’t see anything that interested them. Blaine saw the sheet for the cheerios there, the cheerleading team; he also saw that many had signed up to it. Meaning that the club was popular, but he wasn’t into those kinds of things.
The only sheet however that didn’t have any names signed up to was a sheet that said *NEW DIRECTIONS, No tryouts, Just Sign Up!* It was completely empty. What the hell was New Directions?
“Well, well what do we have here?” A voice suddenly spoke up. Blaine turned and saw a Latina girl leering at him. “I’ve never seen you before hot stuff and believe me I know everyone at this school and I would have known if I had had any of you. So therefore I’m gonna rectify that. How about you and I go out tonight, what do you say baby?” The girl said and circled her arms around his neck.
Blaine just smirked. “Yeah I don’t think so.”
She recoiled quickly. “What? Why not?” She demanded, looking pissed.
“Sorry babe, you’re not my type.” Blaine explained, trying to wave her off.
“Not your type? Have you seen me or are you blind, how the hell can you say no to a piece of me?” She snarled looking even more pissed than before. Blaine wasn’t faced.
“Oh don’t get me wrong, babe. You’re hot but I don’t play for your team.” He said and braced himself for what would probably be a disgusted outburst, he was however surprised.
“Wait, you’re gay? Why didn’t you just say so then? Damn, what a shame. Oh well your loss I guess.” She said and examined her nails as if nothing happened. Blaine and the others were surprised at her acceptance.
“We’re straight!” both Wes and David suddenly said and stared hopefully at her. She just gave them an eye over before scoffing.
“Yeah right I don’t think so.” They slumped in disappointment. “Well since you’re a capital G gay you should totally get your freak on with Kurt, that boy needs to get laid big time.”
“Kurt?” Blaine asked. His interest peaked, could that be that Diva boy from this morning.
“Yeah, he’s the only gay guy in this school and he’s totally hot so you don’t have to worry about him being ugly.” She said and mindlessly texted in her phone.
“Wait, is he kind of a Diva and dressed fashionably?” Jeff asked, looking at her expectedly.
“Yeah he totally is. You already met him?”
“Yeah we ran into him this morning and Blaine already did ask him out and he totally rejected him.” Nick said with a grin earning a punch from Blaine in the arm in the process.
“Wait he rejected you? And here I thought you were worth putting a second thought into. I’m through roughly disappointed Hobbit.” She gave him an unimpressed glare.
“Well it’s his loss and he’ll come around, I can get whenever I…” Blaine started when the Latina girl interrupted him.
“Whoa, no you misunderstood me Shorty. If Kurt rejected you, it means you seriously screwed something up and Kurt is hardly ever wrong when it comes to judging people. Whatever you did, you deserved it. And don’t tell anyone I said this, but Kurt is one of my friends and anyone who messes with me and my friends gets it ok. So, either you man up and apologize for whatever shit you did or simply lose that Badboy façade or else I’ll go all Lima Height Adjacent on your ass got it?” And with that she was gone; leaving the 5 boys once again stunned this day.
“What’s with people in this school?” Wes asked in confusion.
“Let’s just get the next class.” Blaine grumbled.
(--)
The school continued in that slow manner until it was finally time for glee. But the joy was short lived as it turned out that they were one member too short, since Matt had transferred because his Dad had gotten a new job in a new state. So now they needed to find more members which were impossible at this school, since no-one liked the New Directions, so no-one would join. But Mr. Schuester had a plan for them to gather more members, since Nationals was in New York this year it would tempt a lot of people to go if New Directions went.
So now they were trying to come up with a number to sing for the school that represented New York and perform it on Wednesday. Even though it was fun, Kurt just knew it wasn’t going to be that easy.
The rest of the day floated on until they finally could go home and do their homework and prepare for their number on Wednesday and so far he had only been pushed against a wall once, perhaps he was going to get lucky and avoid getting messed around with today.
But his luck was cut short as he was met with a wall of ice thrown at his face. “Welcome back to McKinley FAG!” Karfosky said and high fived Azimio and disappeared down the hall. He should have known.
After quickly washing up in the bathroom and changed into his spare clothes he met up with Finn at the car. Finn immediately started to apologize for not being there to help him when Kurt explained why he was late.
They drove home in a slow pace and Finn talked about the new guys that had joined on the football team and other things that had happened that day. Kurt listened half heartedly and put in a comment here and there.
When they got home, Kurt started making dinner, ready for when both Burt and Carole when they got home. They all sat down and ate and talked about their day. Kurt didn’t mention the wall-slam, slushie-facial or the guy that flirted with him.
After dinner they all went their separate ways. Burt to watch football on TV, Finn to play some video games in is room, Carole needed to take care of some files before she too joined Burt by the TV and Kurt went up to his room and made his homework.
After finishing his homework and checked out the lyrics to the song they were going to sing on Wednesday. Afterwards he took a shower and began his nightly moisturizing routine. When he was done he jumped into bed trying to sleep, thinking about what he was going to do the next day. Both looking forward to glee and dreading the bullies that most surely were there tomorrow as well. ‘I hate school.’ He sighed and fell asleep.
(--)
Blaine’s day continued in that boring pace that most first school days did and when it finally was over he literally ran out and over to his car. He and his friends drove around town for a couple of hours, trying to get familiar with it; they even hit the mall and stopped for a burger at McDonald’s on the way home. After dropping them all off at their respective homes, Blaine turned the wheel home.
When he got home he was met with silence, meaning that his parents were working late again. This wasn’t surprising, they often worked late and times they didn’t they didn’t talk much. Only his mother made the effort to bond with him when she could and he wanted to and Blaine appreciated that. His father on the other hand hardly spoke to him ever since he came out and he didn’t know what to do about it. He hardly even cared anymore; the only other person that he spoke to the most was his brother Cooper.
But he was in Las Vegas, shooting in some new movie or commercial, he wasn’t sure. Blaine really had the urge to call him and talk to him, but he knew that Cooper was busy on Mondays, so he had to call him tomorrow after school. They had made up a schedule so that they could always talk to each other on their spare time and if by chance they couldn’t talk, Cooper sent him a short text telling him. He never left him hanging believing that he had forgotten about him.
They had a bit rough at the beginning but it was better now and Cooper really tried his best to be there for him and that was all that mattered.
Fixing himself a small dinner Blaine did his homework with a sigh. After he was done he did his daily exercise in the gym in their basement, going at it for over an hour he hit the shower and then watched some TV in his room. He absent mindedly shifted through the channels when he heard his parents come home, it was late.
Turning off the TV he rolled onto his back and stared blindly up at the ceiling in his room, thinking about the next boring school day tomorrow. ‘I hate school.’ He thought and let sleep claim him.

Still interesting. I'd be interested in more. Particularly trying to find out why Amelia is still at an orphanage if PHaP or whatever is protecting arch-humans and why things are hard for her (other than avoiding being sold or kidnapped). I like badattitude Blaine, but hate mega-piercings, but maybe he'll dump them, after what Santana said. I'm glad that New Directions is more supportive (or aware) of Kurt's bullying. There are still a good number of spelling/grammatical errors, but it's interesting enough to keep going. Ironically, I'd just had a similar thought (about Dalton being forced to close), but wasn't sure where to post it, so I'm glad to see that.
