"Hey there Blaine, I'm Burt Hummel. I own this house with my fiance, Carole. Herself and her son Finn just moved in with Me and Kurt."
Blaine nodded and smiled slightly at Burt. He was incredibly intimidated by the man but, he knew that Burt seemed like a nice person.
Burt lead Blaine upstairs to the living room and gestured for him and his grandfather to sit down while he made them some coffee. Blaine glanced all around the room taking in all the photographs adorning the walls. One was a shot of Carole and (who he assumed to be) Finn. The other was a shot of Burt, Carole, Finn, and he guessed the other boy was Kurt. The third photo on the wall was a picture of Burt and a young woman holding a small child between them. The photo was immensely intimate and the love they felt for the child was clearly etched on their faces as they peered down at it.
"So, do you think you'll like it here, sport?" Charlie asked.
"I think so. They seem nice." Blaine whispered to him.
Blaine heard a door shut quietly from the back hall. A pale, fashionably dressed boy made his way through the entry way and into the living room. He stopped in his tracks as he saw the two men sitting on his couch. Kurt, being the well mannered boy he was, went to go introduce himself.
"Hi, I'm Kurt Hummel." He said to the elder of the two, shaking his hand.
"Charlie Anderson. Thank you so much for allowing Blaine here to stay with you guys, it'll really be a big help." Charlie smiled at the boy
"Really, it's not a problem at all! Although, he'll have to compete with Finn over who gets the last pancake every morning."
"Haha, well Blaine why don't you introduce yourself?" Charlie asked.
Blaine stuck out a shaky hand and shook Kurt's timidly. "I'm Blaine."
Kurt smiled gently at him. "Kurt." Blaine smiled the smallest of smiles as Kurt let his hand go and sat down at the end of the couch facing him and his grandfather.
"So Kurt, how is McKinley?" Charlie asked.
"Well, do you want the truth or the lie?" Kurt asked quietly.
"I'd probably just save yourself the lying and go with the truth."
"Uh, lets see...Well, for starters being in Glee Club makes you terribly unpopular. No one but the few of us in the club and our teacher sponsor Mr. Shuester actually care about the arts. Only athletics. Um, next I guess would be that the students are not intelligent. Most of them do drugs and get drunk all the time and honestly, it just makes for really frustrated high-strung teachers."
Charlie grimaced a little. "Why do I feel that you're saving the worst point for last?"
"That's because for me, I am. Lastly, I'm the only out gay kid in a public school in Ohio." Blaine's head perked up a little at this admission. Kurt noted that for later. "So, I imagine you get where I'm coming from here."
"Students don't like you? They feel that it's a choice you've made? They bully you for it." Charlie stated.
"Exactly. I mean, no I've never ended up in hospital like other gay kids around the country but, still it hurts just the same. The teachers just don't care if a kid like me gets shoved into lockers or gets slushies thrown in his face."
Burt walked in with a try of coffees and set them on the table in front of them. Kurt gave Charlie and Blaine their s before taking his own.
"Kurt, why don't you show Blaine around the house when you're done? The kid's going to be living here for a while so, he might as well know where we keep the junk food." Charlie chuckled along with Burt.
The boys finished their coffees and Kurt began to tour Blaine around the house. He grabbed Blaine's suitcases and lead him upstairs.
"Alright so, here's the bathroom. I don't imagine you'll end up using this one because it's mostly just Burt and Carole's. Finn's room is in the basement so, we all can still hang out in the rec room but, the bathroom...tread with caution."
They entered a room with a nice queen sized bed, blue curtains and a decent sized closet next. "This will be your room." Kurt explained as he set Blaine's bags on the bed. "Feel free to decorate it as you wish." Kurt said as Blaine looked around the room.
"You know, you don't have to be afraid here. We won't judge you." Kurt said quietly "I know that you've been through a lot and that you might not want our help or anything but, just know we're here for you."
and for once Blaine felt like someone was.
