“So Blaine, you’ve told me that all you remember is hearing Maggie scream, so you jumped out of bed and rushed to her room to find your father drunk and Maggie stabbed in the chest. And then you just blacked out?” officer Tom, the officer covering the Anderson story, said to Blaine.
Blaine was still recovering from the long night he had in the hospital, talking to officer Tom and telling him all about it. He thought a moment about Tom’s question to see if he could remember anything else, but drew a blank. “I feel as if I were forgetting something,” Blaine finally answered.
“Well Blaine, from the looks of the wound on your head, it looks like you were hit with a gun of some sort. Maybe the one your father used on himself.”
Blaine’s eyes went dark and filled with tears. “Can we, uh…” Blaine’s voice cracked.
“We can talk later if you’ve has enough for today. But if you remember anything, maybe write it down. That way, you won’t forget next time we talk,” officer Tom said as he got up to leave. “Feel better soon Blaine. I’m so sorry you have to go through this.”
