This is the first chapter, we hope you'll enjoy it!
Burt’s car was parked in Dalton Academy’s parking lot. He and his son, Kurt, had been packing his room so that he would be ready to transfer this Sunday.
Burt left the driver’s seat to walk to the trailer where they had loaded all Kurt’s things merely two hours before.
Kurt was still seated in the car, anxious about starting on a whole new school. Yes, he knew Blaine, but not that well.
Burt opened the trailer and sighed as he saw all the furniture that needed to be moved to Kurt’s new room. He grabbed a coffee table and tried to set it down on the ground, but as he dragged it out of the trailer he found it was heavier than he had thought. Just when he thought he was about to drop it on the ground, a figure appeared on the other side of the coffee table, and grabbed it.
“Woah, easy there, sir” A friendly voice said as they placed the table on the ground.
“Thank you…”
“Blaine. Blaine Anderson” He said as he extended his hand for Burt to shake.
Burt looked at the young man, and shook his hand. “Thank you Blaine. It was very kind of you to help me”
Blaine smiled at Burt.
“So, where are you going with all this stuff, sir?”
“Burt Hummel, just call me Burt”
“Hummel? So, you’re Kurt Hummel’s dad?”
“Yeah, you know my son?”
“Yeah, actually I do. We met at a coffee house nearby” Blaine said as he put his hands in his pockets. “I can help you with the furniture if you like. I know where Kurt’s new room is” He said as he nodded his head at the direction where they should go.
“Yeah, that would be nice, Blaine” Burt said as he walked up to the passenger’s seat of the car. “Kurt, your friend is here”
Kurt turned his head and looked at his father with a confused look on his face. “Who?”
“Blaine Anderson at your service” Blaine said as he walked up to Kurt’s car window.
A huge smile appeared on Kurt’s face as he took off his seatbelt and opened the door. He gave Blaine a huge hug and buried his face in his hair.
Blaine, shocked as he was, let out a little giggle and wrapped his arms tightly around Kurt’s waist.
“Hi” Kurt whispered as he finally relaxed after a tense couple of days with worries about his new life at Dalton.
Burt awkwardly cleared his throat as the boys embraced each other.
Blaine let go first, and Kurt stepped back slowly.
“So, should we get you and your things settled? You’re gonna share a room with Wes by the way, he is in the Warbler council, so he might be able to squeeze you a spot” Blaine grinned “Or, I mean I just assumed you wanted to join The Warblers since you were in glee club at your old school?”
Kurt nodded, and smiled to Blaine.
Blaine looked up at Burt, “so, that coffee table…”
“Yes, coffee table,” Burt said and clapped his hands together once. “Let’s get to it. Can you take the other end, Blaine?”
Blaine smiled and grabbed the table. “Of course, sir” He said politely.
After they got all of Kurt’s stuff settled into his room, Burt had left them alone, to fill out some final papers of Kurt’s transfer.
“Where do you put these?” Blaine hold up some lotions
“Don’t, touch that!”
Kurt ran to Blaine, grabbed them from his hands and threw them in the nearest drawer.
“Ehh... Sorry?” Blaine looked at Kurt with big eyes.
“No, it’s fine” Kurt said “I’m just really strict about that stuff”
Blaine smiled, a bit relieved, “It’s okay, I’m like that with my hair gel too”
Kurt mumbled “Yeah, you sure use a lot of that stuff”
“Excuse me?” Blaine wasn’t quite sure he heard what he thought he had.
Kurt flushed “Nothing” He definitely didn’t mean to offend any of the boys on his first day.
Blaine took a stool they hadn’t placed yet, and sat it down in the middle of the room. He lowered himself onto it and looked at Kurt struggling with a box of clothes.
“Hey Kurt, you seem very… Out of it? Are you okay?”
“Sure, I’m just a bit nervous I guess” Kurt answered, looking down at his feet.
Blaine got up and walked over to Kurt, putting an arm around his shoulders. “You know that I’m here if you want to talk, right? I don’t care how silly your problem is, I’ll listen Kurt” He said, the honesty clear in his voice.
In that very moment, Wes decided to walk through the door. He stopped dead in his tracks when he saw the two boys. He cleared his throat. “Ehm… Blaine, I’m okay with you hooking up with guys, but could you maybe keep it in your own room?”
The two boys turned around to face Wes, and Blaine immediately removed his arm from around Kurt.
“No, this is Kurt, Wes. Your roommate” Blaine said, as the colour rose on his cheeks.
“Screwing the new guy? Already?!” He looked Kurt up and down, before facing Blaine directly as he whispered, “Good job”
Blaine totally ignored Wes’ comment and looked to Kurt. “I’m glad I could help you today. Sleep tight” He said as he walked past Wes and exited the room.
Wes poked his head out and shouted after Blaine. “Hey! What about me? Are you just going to ignore me and not even say good night?”
“Shut up, Wes” Blaine said as he waved goodbye to the boy.
Wes went back into his room and extended his hand to Kurt
“Wesley, Wesley Charles Lin, I’m your roommate here at Dalton and the House president of Eagles House”
Kurt shook his hand.
“Kurt Hummel, Fashion enthusiast and former star of New Directions” He said with a big grin.
“Welcome Kurt, I think you’ll fit in great. So I like to keep my room super clean, and I’m not really used to having a roommate, but if you can keep quiet after 10pm and keep all you shi… stuff at your side I think we’ll get a long perfectly”
“Quiet after 10, stuff at my side. Got it!” Kurt saluted.
Wes laughed at the small movement and started running Kurt through the school rules.
“Here at Dalton we have four houses that all the students gets separated into. You were so lucky to get into Eagles House where I am. It’s sort of known as the smart guys house, some may refer to it as nerdy, but those guys are all from Crows House. They are all kind of douche pots over there. We also have Hawks House, they usually have very wealthy families, and are very ambitious, and tries hard to impress their families. And then we come around full circle to Owls House, where Blaine is. They are sort of the “rebels” if you may, at this school. Super smart guys, too, but likes to pull pranks on others. They’re good to have around if you’re sad, they intend to lighten up situations”
Kurt nodded as he sucked in the new information. It sounded like a decent school.
