Kurt was nibbling on his lip, a nervous habit Blaine didn’t know he had until a few days ago when the first of the college acceptance letters had begun to trickle in. Every day after school he had raced home to see if NYU had arrived, and when it hadn’t, he had become increasingly worried. Blaine was currently trying to distract him with Singing in the Rain and cuddling, but even the occasional kiss to the forehead didn’t seem to help.

Burt walked in the door with the mail, but before he could say anything, Kurt had scrambled out of Blaine’s arms and snatched the half dozen or so letters out of his father’s hands.

“It’s not there, Kurt,” he said gently. “But you do have one from Ohio.”

Kurt had already plopped onto the couch.

“Great, my safety school.” He tore into the letter and scanned the top paper quickly. “Well, I’m in. What a surprise.”

Blaine and Burt both offered their congratulations, but Kurt barely heard them as he read the next sheet.

“Looks like they’re offering me a full tuition scholarship as well.”

Blaine squeezed Kurt’s leg. “That’s great, Kurt!”

“Yeah, good job kiddo. And don’t worry about NYU, I’m sure it will get here in the next couple of days,” said Burt as he made his way to the kitchen.

Kurt sighed and placed his head on Blaine’s shoulder. Blaine resumed their earlier position but wrapped his arm a little tighter around Kurt. “Your dad’s right, babe. Your acceptance letter will be here soon.”

“But what if it’s not?” Kurt asked in a panic-stricken voice. “What if they decline me?”

“They won’t.”

“But what if?”

Blaine lifted Kurt’s head and looked him in the eyes.

“Kurt Hummel, you are going to do amazing things in your life and if NYU is stupid enough to reject you, then it’s their loss, not yours.”

Blaine saw a flicker of a grin, so he took the opportunity to kiss him chastely on the lips.

“But they are going to accept you.”

Kurt sighed and looked away.

“Waiting sucks.”

Blaine wrapped his arm around Kurt once again.

“Yeah, it does.”

End Notes: I SO do not miss the days of waiting for college letters. Yes, I'm going with the bandwagon on this one and saying that Kurt wants to go to NYU.
