After the piata Kurt had brought the group back into the living room and taught them how to play operator. It was quickly becoming their favorite game as each child tried to come up with the most outrageous statement to pass around the circle. Some of Kurt’s favorite endings included “It’s hard to soup and run,” “I lie to meet mugs,” and “Joey’s ship took a turn into the sun,” close but not quite the originals of “This party is super super fun,” “I like to eat bugs,” and “Joey’s shirt looks like a sun.” Savannah, Maddie’s best friend, was listening to the last person with much confusion on her face.

The impromptu concert took up the rest of the party, so Blaine was still playing as the last child was picked up. While Kurt waved goodbye, Maddie asked, “Can I have one more song, Daddy?”
“Sure, pumpkin. What do you want?”
“The one from the story of how you and Papa met.”
I should have known; she always asks for this one, Blaine thought, but he couldn’t complain because he truly did love it. As Kurt returned to scoop Maddie onto his lap, Blaine began strumming the familiar chords.
“You think I’m pretty without any makeup on…”
