“It’s my turn!” Maddie shouted as she looked to her Papa for confirmation. Kurt nodded and she whispered something in the ear of the boy next to her. Blaine had suggested that Maddie host an end of the school year party, and she immediately fell in love with the idea. Maddie was becoming quite the social butterfly, and Kurt had to help her narrow her guest list down to only ten friends so that their house was not overrun with children. Seven-year olds really don’t need more stimulation than that, Kurt thought.

After the piata Kurt had brought the group back into the living room and taught them how to play operator. It was quickly becoming their favorite game as each child tried to come up with the most outrageous statement to pass around the circle. Some of Kurt’s favorite endings included “It’s hard to soup and run,” “I lie to meet mugs,” and “Joey’s ship took a turn into the sun,” close but not quite the originals of “This party is super super fun,” “I like to eat bugs,” and “Joey’s shirt looks like a sun.” Savannah, Maddie’s best friend, was listening to the last person with much confusion on her face.

“Something something ring a long?” she laughed.

Maddie sighed dramatically, a trait she seemed to have picked up from Kurt. “No! I said ‘My Papa should sing us a song!’” She turned to Kurt with her best puppy-dog eyes. “Pleeease, Papa?”

Kurt smiled. “Daddy!” he called to Blaine, who was currently cleaning up in the kitchen. “Do you want to come help me?”

Blaine appeared a minute later, lightly strumming his guitar. He sat down next to Kurt on the couch and asked, “Any requests?”

Every child seemed to have an opinion, so the pair decided to give each child a shortened version of whatever they wanted with a few mash-ups thrown in. The impromptu concert took up the rest of the party, so Blaine was still playing as the last child was picked up. While Kurt waved goodbye, Maddie asked, “Can I have one more song, Daddy?”

“Sure, pumpkin. What do you want?”

“The one from the story of how you and Papa met.”

I should have known; she always asks for this one, Blaine thought, but he couldn’t complain because he truly did love it. As Kurt returned to scoop Maddie onto his lap, Blaine began strumming the familiar chords.

“You think I’m pretty without any makeup on…”

End Notes: I had planned on using another idea, but that quickly turned into ‘Overworked,' a 1200 word fic on its own (yes this is a shameless plug for another one of my fics). I like this one as well, even though the song choice is completely cliché and overused (so sue me). My Mom used to have me and my sister host this kind of party, and the kids at the summer camp I worked at love to play this game.
