Blaine tiredly stumbled out of his apartment and into...his other one.
"Blainers! Hey, you kept us up with all that Rent and Katy Perry again! Just like high school. But, we're totally okay with it man, I mean, you're letting us have this apartment until we get everything put together for Warblers Inc." Jeff, a chipper blond, greeted as soon as Blaine stepped through the door. Blaine blinked at Jeff, and then shook his head.
"It's seven in the morning, Jeff, what the hell are you doing up so early?" Blaine asked, noting that none of the other Warblers living in the apartment were up. Of course, Jeff had always been like this.
"Please! It's a beautiful day! I'm out to get coffee, and then check up on the construction, peace out!" and with that, Jeff was out the door. Blaine puffed out a mouth-bubble of air, and rubbed his eyes. He blinked them opened again, making them wide as if to help them from drooping.
He continued on his mission, and was met, thankfully, by a box on the counter of the tiny kitchen: coffee mugs. He raided through them, and finally found his personal Warbler one. He thought now that the Warblers lived right next door, he could steal back the honorary mug he'd left behind when he'd transferred to McKinley his senior year.
"Ha." He whispered triumphantly to himself. Then, he skillfully snuck back out, locked the door behind him, and skipped back into his other apartment.
"Daddy!" January Anderson screeched, popping up from the couch and running over to him. He shushed her gently, and then pulled her up into his arms.
"Hey, sweet pea! How'd you sleep, huh? Any nightmares?" he asked her protectively. She smiled; her bright, hazel-green eyes big with excitement.
"Psh, no, Daddy! I slept in your room, and you keep me safe." She reminded. Blaine did and exaggerated 'oh!,' and January giggled.
"Okay, okay. So, Daddy met our neighbors yesterday, and they are so excited to meet you!" Blaine exclaimed, letting her down. She laughed, and jumped excitedly up, and down. She was dawned in an old Jersey of his, and her being her father's daughter, as well as being prematurely born, (aka, she was hilariously tiny), it reached well past her knees.
"Cool!" she grinned, a single front tooth missing from an otherwise perfect smile. Blaine crinkled his nose at her, and let her lead him into the kitchen. "Can I have some cereal?"
"I don't know, can you?" Blaine said back, laughing at the disgruntled face she pulled.
"Of course, excuse me, MAY I have a bowl of cereal?" she said again, messily wiping her currently-ratchet hair out of her face. Blaine blew a raspberry at her, but fished out a bowl, and a spoon from a nearby box. Blaine looked over at the collection all of his friends had made, and turned to January with a raised eyebrow.
"Okay, so here's the choices, sweet cheeks: Uncle Puck and Uncle Sammy's Wheaties, Uncle Finn's Captain Crunch, Aunt Brittany's Lucky Charms, Uncle Artie's Cheerios, or, finally; I'm losing my breath here, Aunt Tina's Raisin Bran?" Blaine asked, taking a large gulp of air when he was done. January tilted her head to the side in contemplation, and then with a smile, answered.
"Wheaties!" she grinned. Sam, who had trudged into the kitchen at that moment, beamed with pride. He rushed over, and slung her up onto his shoulders.
"That's m'girl!" he laughed. January burst into a fit of laughter, and squirmed her way into his arms to hug him.
"I love you so much, Uncle Sammy!" she admitted. It wasn't a new confession, of course; she said it everyday to every single Uncle, multiple times.
"Hey, I don't think so. She's mine!" Puck then pulled the little girl from Sam's grasp, and propped her on his hip. "How's my favorite girl? You didn't have any more nightmares, did yah?" Puck asked, giving her nose a poke. Blaine looked on sadly as he set the bowl down on their temporary box-and-board table. He knew January reminded Puck of Beth, and it broke his heart.
"You're all mistaken; I do believe she's mine." Finn bounded into the mix, and pulled the girl gently from Puck. "C'mon, Jan, touch the ceiling, touch the ceiling!" Finn raised her up, and she was able to touch the ceiling with both hands. The girl was an absolute mess of laughter, and Blaine's heart was in danger of bursting out of his chest.
"Look, ya'll must be trippin' 'cause that girl is this guy's." Artie argued, pulling the seven-year old down by the ankles, so she landed safely on his lap. He kissed her forehead as she wrapped her arms around his neck. Tina and Brittany had appeared, looking tired, but letting the men do their thing, because January was strictly a daddy kind of girl. Tragically due to her mother's, though brief, abuse. She had only been months old, and had already been covered in bruises. Blaine had whisked her away, and had sent that literal mother fucker to prison. Yes, she loved Tina, and Brittany, but didn't hang out with them as much as her many daddies.
"I'm all of yours, silly gooses, and I love you equally! Jee wilikers, can I eat my Wheaties now?" she laughed, wriggling out of Arties grasp, pecking Tina and Brittany on the cheeks, and finally settling down on her box/chair.
"All you need to get dressed, and all that, because next door-guy invited us over." Blaine recommended, pointing at them. The men and two women shared amused looks, but left to do just that. January watched them go as she chewed.
"Wadth th' nexth-door guy liketh?" she said through a mouthful, and Blaine gave her a half-hearted scowl. She giggled, and then swallowed. "Sorry."
"He seemed very nice, and is very handsome. Like, Disney Prince handsome." Blaine told her, grinning. January gasped.
"He's a prince?" she asked incredulously. Blaine laughed.
"Possibly, looks that way. Hey, you ate all that pretty quickly! Are you sure you're not Finn's child?" Blaine teased, kissing her cheek as he took the bowl, and threw in unceremoniously into the sink. January shrugged.
"Hey, pretty lady. Let's go get you all dressed up so your stupid dad can get ready." Puck said, taking January by the hand, and into his room. Sam, Finn, and Artie were all there waiting.
"Okay, 'cause we know you don't care all that much about fashion, us guys narrowed it down to some choices we think'll be nice, 'kay?" Sam explained, gesturing to the four different ensembles laid out on the bed.
"Hm. That one!" January pointed to an outfit that consisted of a Little Mermaid sweatshirt that cautiously looked hipster, paired with a burgundy, pleated skirt, and a pair of bright teal leggings that went with Ariel's background. It was topped off with a fuzzy, white beanie, and tiny, black combat boots that Puck had insisted on buying for her.
"Ha, yes! Sucks for you losers." Puck grinned. Then he turned back to January. "Alright, Jan, go get dressed and then come in her so we can do your hair, and shit-stuff!" Puck winced at his slip, but January laughed.
"Uncle Puck, shame on you!" she playfully scolded. Puck blushed, and ushed her into the bathroom.
"Yeah, Puck." Finn teased, setting up the hair stuff on the girl's Disney Princess vanity mirror.
"Should we go straight with it today, or not bother? I mean, it's gonna be in a beanie, so I think we should keep the curls. Wow, I just sounded super gay." Sam looked at shoes with a confused expression. Puck patted him on the shoulder.
"Dude, that girl is worth it though." Puck reassured. Finn nodded, and then smiled when January strutted into the room with a very Blaine-like expression; modesty...humbleness. She knew she looked good, but she didn't fish for compliments. She was pretty advanced for a seven year old, in those aspects.
"Looking fine, girl! Aright, let's brush out all those tangles, and get you all presentable." Finn grinned, setting her up on her chair, and the men swarmed around her.
Blaine looked at himself in the mirror. Was the bow-tie to much? He'd given up gel long ago, so he wasn't going to use that. He sighed, and just decided to go with it. A burgundy cardigan over a white dress shirt, paired along with dark teal skinnies, and tied up with a matching teal bow-tie was charming; him. It was perfect for the situation, but that didn't mean he wasn't self-conscious.
He stepped out of the room, and grinned modestly at the two girls. Tina was in a pretty, light blue summer dress, her high-lighted hair pulled up in a pony tail. Brittany was wearing a casual, stretchy material, knee-length dress the color of the ocean, along with the lack of sleeves. Her hair hung down in pale blond sheets, and they looked stunning.
"Very pretty, girls, casual, but fierce." Blaine reviewed, and they beamed.
"Thanks, Blainey Days, you look pretty hot, too. If that man doesn't go for you, he's crazy." Tina remarked.
"Yeah, I mean, you may not be the brightest unicorn, but that doesn't mean you aren't one." Brittany added. Blaine smiled, and then sat down on the couch with them to wait for his daughter.
He didn't have to wait long, because she came running into the living room, looking adorkable as always, and obviously being chased by her Uncles.
"Hey, you guys match!" Finn pointed out, and Blaine and January exchanged gasps.
"This is gonna be the best ever!" January squealed, and was off into the hall.
