Chapter 10
"Bye dad!"
Burt smiled as Blaine of course opened the car door for Kurt. Burt wanted to yell out be back before twelve but, his son was all grown up and he trusted Blaine. They were a good pair.
Today was date night. They made it easy and just decided to go to the Lima bowling ally. It was always full of people on a Saturday night and it was fun.
Kurt didn't know if he liked bowling. He opened the door and smelt the smell of greasy fried food and stale chewing gum. It appeared to look fun though.
"Are you sure you've never gone bowling?" Blaine asked in disbelief.
"I believe that's what I just said," Kurt replied, insecurely taking his hand as music blared through the place.
Blaine looked at him incredulously. "What was your childhood?"
Kurt raised his eyebrows. "Oh, God, you're gonna tell me you were in a bowling club or something equally as sad, aren't you?"
Blaine forced a cough. "There is nothing wrong with competitive bowling," he insisted with conviction.
Kurt stifled a laugh. "I hate it already."
Blaine shook his head. "Hey now, You clearly haven't experienced the rush of getting a spare or a strike."
Kurt sighed. "I have no idea what those are."
"This should be fun." Blaine laughed as he received shoes from the front desk.
"Um what are those?" Kurt said wrinkling his nose.
"Shoes!" Blaine exclaimed excitedly.
"And why do we have them?" Kurt asked slowly as Blaine unlaced his shoes.
"There bowling shoes. Here put them on."
Kurt stared down at the shoes in disgust. "Must I wear these?"
Blaine laughed. "It's all part of the fun."
Putting the shoes on hesitantly, Kurt wondered how many people before him had worn these ridiculous things.
"You can go first," Blaine offered.
Kurt shook his head. "You go. I wanna see if you're any good," he said with a smirk.
Blaine shrugged. "Prepare to be impressed," he said grinning.
Picking up the nearest bowling ball, Blaine confidently walked forward and released the ball. It glided down the lane and promptly knocked all ten pins over.
Kurt let out a little squeal. He had not expected Blaine to be that good.
Blaine turned around to see Kurt clapping with a big smile on his face. Milking it for all he could, Blaine bowed, mouthing 'thank-you, thank-you' to the imaginary audience. A couple nearby stared at them but Kurt and Blaine just kept laughing. They were used to people staring and had decided to never let it ruin their fun.
"Your turn!"
Kurt walked over, grabbing the smallest bowling ball he could see. It wasn't as heavy as he'd imagined but he still didn't know how he'd manoeuvre it to reach the pins at the other end of the lane.
Kurt walked to the top of the lane doing some granny shot throw making his boyfriend laugh. The ball hit the floor loudly as it rolled in the gutter. Kurt humiliated, ran back sitting down covering his face with his hands.
Blaine smiled bending down in front of him. He removed his hands and giving him a gentle kiss. "Come, I'll help you."
Kurt was hesitant but shyly got back up. He pick up the ball back up and joined Blaine at the top of the lane.
Blaine wrapped one arm around Kurt's waist and placed the other over Kurt's arm. "Ready to give it another go?" he asked.
Kurt nodded cutely as he gave him a quick peck. "This is so cheesy." He giggled.
"Oh hush you." Blaine smirked. "Ready 1...2...3!"
The ball fastly spun down the ally knocking over seven pins.
Kurt excitedly wrapped his arms around Blaine jumping on him. "I got seven Blaine!"
Blaine laughed kissing him. "I'm proud of you."
Kurt blushed when he realized he was acting like he was two. "I think this is growing on me."
"Good." Blaine smiled.
"I may just have to join you on your next bowling meet."
"Your not that good yet, babe." Blaine chuckled.
Kurt looked playfully hurt as he crossed his arms.
"Um...but your so good at so many other things?"
"Nice try." Kurt chuckled. "I'm getting better though."
"You are." He said genuinely proud of his boyfriend's progress.
"How about we make this into a real competition?"
Blaine considered this. "Do you want me to go easy on you?" he teased.
Kurt snorted. "I don't want your charity. I'm gonna win this on skill!"
Blaine choked back a laugh. "If you say so."

At the end of the game the score was closer than Blaine had predicted. Kurt had almost caught up, but not quite. After Kurt's last bowl the screen flashed the final scores, showing Blaine as the winner.
"I win! I win! I win!" Blaine immaturely called to Kurt, beginning a celebratory dance. Kurt covered his eyes, pretending he did not know this crazy guy jumping and twirling in the middle of the bowling alley.
Once Blaine had calmed down he flopped onto the seat next to Kurt. You couldn't wipe the grin off his face."You're such a ass," Kurt teased, shaking his head. "But well done. So, what do you win?"
Blaine considered this. "A kiss?" he suggested playfully, pouting his lips at Kurt in a childish manner. Giggling, Kurt placed a kiss to Blaine's cheek before skipping off, leaving the smaller boy with a frown that threatened to morph into a laugh.
It had indeed been a fun date night and he didn't think about cutting once. Maybe he could do this?
Comments
It is nice to see them doing something fun like bowling after what Kurt has been going through. I can totally see Kurt refusing to bowl before and this being his first time at it.
Haha. :)
Very cute. In the series Kurt knew how to bowl. There was a scene where he had to skip a bowling night with Mercedes to go out with Blaine. =P
Oh. My bad HAHA
That's was really sweet n cute date
