Before long life in New York was getting back to normal. Two weeks after the storm Kurt was back at work and Blaine's job finally reopened.  It was nice to have an impromptu vacation -paid vacation in Kurt's case- but the circumstances around it wasn't the best.

None of them had power for five days.  Their water was cold, so they went to a local gym to shower.  Trying to take a shower with a squirming toddler in a stall the size of a matchbox without touching anything was a ton of fun.  It was quite a sight to be seen.  Blaine broke down and asked Kurt for help.  Blaine stood in the stall with his boxers and flip flops on while Kurt stood just outside making quick work of washing the little girl’s hair.  He held out his arms to hold the little girl while Blaine quickly washed her up.  By the end of the ordeal both men were wetter than the baby was.

In addition to not having power, the cell tower was down so they had six days with no cell service.  Kurt ended up going and buying Hot Spot for a week so they could remain in contact with his job and their families.

However, something amazing came out of those five days with no power; it gave Blaine and Kurt the chance to get to know each other.  Like really get to know each other.  Kurt learned that Blaine sleeps half on his side and half on his belly with his right leg bent hugging his pillow.  He discovered that when he gets aggravated (being stuck in the apartment with Rachel for so long will do that to anyone) his right eye gets the most adorable twitch.  Kurt noticed all of the little things that make Blaine, Blaine.  For example, Blaine always puts on his right shoe before his left and that he hates socks.

Blaine took the time to really study Kurt.  He found that while he prefers to sleep on his stomach, he really loves to cuddle.  He thought it was adorable that Kurt's voice would raise when excited or upset.  He, like his boyfriend, noticed the little things as well.  Kurt had a rigorous skin care routine, which he followed like clockwork.  His hair always had to be perfect, unless Blaine or Bernadette wanted to touch it.  Anyone else would risk losing a finger.  He saw that when Kurt was nervous his eyes shifted to the floor and his shoulders unconsciously fell forward.

In that time the boys also discovered things about themselves. Neither man was particularly experienced.  Rachel was the limit of Blaine's and Kurt had kissed a few people here and there, but never progressed further than that.  Both men were instantly comfortable around each other.  In that week they let their fingers roam and learn the contours of each other's body's.

Kurt found that Blaine was extremely physically fit.  He enjoyed running his fingers over the definition in his boyfriend's abs and down to his V.  He also learned that Blaine loves it when he kisses the in the indentation where his neck and collar bone meet.  Blaine loves it even more when Kurt places gentle kisses down the upper part of that beautiful V.  That little tidbit of information was discovered by accident.  That accident left Blaine a little embarrassed.

"Blaine don't be embarrassed, it happens to everybody."

"But everybody doesn't end up poking their un-expecting boyfriend in the chin with their dick."

"Oh Blaine stop, if anything I- I liked it.  One day, when we are both ready of course, we will explore there too.  And at least now I know what turns you on." Blaine groaned and covered his face with his pillow.  He was not helping the situation.

Kurt really loved knowing that last tidit of information.

In that week Kurt wasn’t the only one to learn something.  Blaine learned that Kurt was, most definitely, the most attractive man he had ever seen in his life.  Kurt had the body of a dancer.  He had amazingly defined arms and his abs - oh, his abs- drove him crazy.  The defined contours of his six pack that were still just soft enough.  He never wanted to remove his hands from his body.

It was a mutual decision made that week not to grant hands visas south of the equator.  They knew that neither of them were ready for that quite yet; especially not with everyone on the other side of a paper thin wall.  One day, but not today.

xx

At work that Thursday Kurt was completely buried.  There was two weeks of work to be made up two weeks ago and frantic editors and supervisors running around screaming about their deadlines.  His entire day consisted of people throwing files on his desk and running from office to office like a maniac.  He only saw Isabelle once that day when he bought her coffee.  She looked like she was ready to have an emotional breakdown.  He knew how she felt.

The one thing Kurt was looking forward to was Blaine's show that night. He really missed watching his boyfriend perform these past few weeks. Yea, he got impromptu songs randomly at home, but he misses the passion Blaine has when he performs.  Tonight is also going to be a special night. The restaurant is holding a fundraiser for the recovery effort so all of their performers will be having sets tonight.  He has to be out of his office by five.  Sorry Isabelle, you’re on your own tonight.

Xx

Blaine had spent the better part of this past week preparing for this performance.  It meant a lot to him, for the sole reason that it is a benefit.  Well that’s not quite true, that and he was going to tell Kurt that he was in love with him and he was going to do it in song.  He spent every available moment locked in his room with his guitar and his notebook. Everything had to be perfect.

By the time he got to the restaurant that night Blaine’s nerves were out of control.  He honestly felt like he was going to throw up.  Maybe this wasn’t such a good idea.  No, no – he shouldn’t do this publically.  What if he scares him off?  What if he just runs away? What if he doesn’t love me back?

Blaine quickly shook that last thought out of his head and walked through the front door, guitar in hand, and headed backstage to prepare with the other performers.  The owner of the club explained talked to them about their sets and reviewed their song choices.  This was a normal occurrence, this place was his baby and he wanted to make sure that all choices were appropriate.  The appropriateness of songs, especially on a night like tonight, is vital.

He read over Blaine’s song for Kurt and he smiled.  “This is amazing son.  Knock ‘em dead.”  Blaine smiled and sat back sipping on his coffee waiting his set to start.

Kurt got to the restaurant at 5:50 exactly.  He turned his phone off and quickly snuck to his normal table.  He was pleasantly surprised to see the place was packed as it was.  However, he wasn’t quite sure how in the world his table happened to be the only one open though; must have been fate.

The lights dimmed and Olivia, the manager, stepped center stage.  “Hi everyone, I hope everyone is back at home and safe tonight.  It has been quite a few weeks for our communities and there is a reason why we have such a special night tonight.  Normally we have our live entertainment until 7:30; however, tonight our amazing talent will sing their hearts out until ten pm.  Tonight is our chance to give to our community.  All profits from tonight will be donated to the recovery effort.  There is also a locked box at the hostess stand for additional donations.  This is our community, our homes, our family, our friends, and our neighbors; let’s show them our support tonight.  Now without further ado: our entertainment begins.  Let’s hear it for Blaine Anderson.”

Kurt probably clapped louder than anyone else in the room as he watched his beautiful boyfriend replace Olivia’s place on stage.  He sat at the piano bench and began to speak.  “Thank you Olivia.  Hello everyone, my name is Blaine Anderson and I hope you all have an amazing time tonight.  We are all so happy to see you here with us tonight.”

The spot light shone lightly on Blaine as his fingers began to stroke the keys.  Kurt recognized the familiar tune and smiled as soon as Blaine began singing the lyrics.

“Now that she's back in the atmosphere

With drops of Jupiter in her hair, hey, hey

She acts like summer and walks like rain

Reminds me that there's time to change, hey, hey

Since the return from her stay on the moon

She listens like spring and she talks like June, hey, hey

Tell me did you sail across the sun

Did you make it to the Milky Way to see the lights all faded

And that heaven is overrated

Tell me, did you fall for a shooting star

One without a permanent scar

And did you miss me while you were looking for yourself out there –“

As the song continued Blaine found Kurt’s face in the crowd and looked him straight in the eye.   Even though the room was full of people it was like no one existed except for the two of them.  The expression of pure adoration Kurt wore gave Blaine instantly the confidence to continue on and sing the song that he worked so hard on for Kurt.  Yes, tonight was definitely the night.

Blaine continued through the other five songs in his set before he stood and walked to the stool which sat center stage with the double microphone placed in front.  “As you know, normally we sing covers of amazing songs, but tonight I wanted to shake things up a little bit.  Music is my passion and if there is nothing else in this world I enjoy doing is making it.  So tonight I am going to perform a song which I wrote for someone who means everything to me.  I hope you’re listening.”  Blaine spoke that last sentence directly to Kurt.

Kurt was internally flailing.  He couldn’t smile harder if he tried and he legitimately thought he was going to fall off of the chair.  He clutched his latte tight and allowed himself to get lost in the original strums of the acoustic guitar.

“Da da da da da dum dum da
Da da da da da dum dum da

If there's anything that you want
If there's anything I can do
Just call on me and I'll send it along
With love from me to you

I've got everything that you want
Like a heart that's oh so true
Just call on me and I'll send it along
With love from me to you

I got arms that long to hold you
And keep you by my side
I got lips that long to kiss you
And keep you satisfied, oooh

If there's anything that you want
If there's anything I can do
Just call on me and I'll send it along
With love from me to you

From me, to you
Just call on me and I'll send it along
With love from me to you

I got arms that long to hold you
And keep you by my side
I got lips that long to kiss you
And keep you satisfied, oooh

If there's anything that you want
If there's anything I can do
Just call on me and I'll send it along
With love from me to you
To you, to you, to you

Baby because I love you,

I love you-“

Kurt was shell shocked.  Blaine had just told him that he loved him; by song, at that, a song that he wrote.  No, he composed.  Blaine just told him that he loved him by composing a song for him.  This is never something that, even in his wildest dreams, he would have ever envisioned happening.  He felt the warm tingle of the single tear dripping down his cheek as he leapt out of his seat and rushed through the cheers of the audience to the stage door.

Blaine tried to read Kurt’s face during the song.  He put everything he had into his performance and he hoped that Kurt liked it.  He lost Kurt into the crowd when they began to give him a standing ovation.  Adrenaline began coursing through his veins and he felt his confidence rise.  God, he wished that this would be his future.  This is what he always wanted.  Well this and now that gorgeous man that he needed to find quickly.

He took a final bow and introduced the next singer before walking off the stage.  As soon as he opened the door off stage he was hug tackled by a very emotional Kurt.

“Hey baby, did- did you like it?”  He asked as he cradled his head into the crook of Kurt’s neck.

“Oh Blaine, so, so much.”  He replied breathlessly.  “I love you too.”  All of the tension was immediately lifted and Blaine let out a breath he didn’t even realize he was holding.  Both men were so lost within each other that they didn’t even notice the beautiful Latina and the dapper Asian watching them from a booth in the side of the room.  The Latina looked at them, smiled before nodding at the man.

End Notes: The songs used we Jupiter by Train (I'm pretty sure there is more to the name), I love all things train. And obviously Blaine, nor I, wrote that song. His 'original' song is From Me to You by the Beatles. The last two lines of the song I added in.See you all soon! PS I have NO idea why the font came out like this lol
