Author's Notes: Enjoy! (again I own nothing)

Their eyes met and Kurt felt his heart drop into his stomach.  ‘Oh my God.’  He thought to himself.  ‘I made it all up in my head.  He wasn’t flirting with me. Shit.’

“Hey Kurt, fancy meeting you here.”  He said nervously.  This was not how he wanted to let Kurt know about Bernadette.  His heart started racing and his palms started sweating.

“Yea, small world huh.”

“Too small.”  Blaine said walking over to get Bernadette from Kurt.

“Excuse me.” Kurt muttered as he quickly got to his feet and walked to his room.  He shut the door and threw himself on his bed.  Of course it wasn’t a coincidence that it would be the same Blaine and Rachel.  How many Blaine and Rachel combinations could there possibly in New York?  Especially ones in Brooklyn who can both sing.  He became so frustrated with himself.  Blaine was just a nice guy who just wanted to make friends in a new city.  He was more aggravated that he started crushing on a straight guy again.  ‘You seriously need to break that bad habit of falling in love with straight men Kurt Hummel.’  He thought to himself as he buried his head in his pillow.  “Fucking idiot.” He said, pillow muffling his words.

His phone vibrated in his pocket.  He groaned as he pulled it out.

From Blaine (5:23 PM): Well I see you met who I wanted to introduce to you tonight.  Please come out. I want to talk to you.

Kurt got out of bed and attempted to quickly fix his hair in the mirror.  He sighed deeply, put a smile on, and opened the door.

“Yea Blaine let’s go.”  Kurt said behind a forced smile.  He had to act like nothing was bothering him.  He didn’t want to freak Blaine out by him finding out that he had a crush on him.  He went down that route before, twice, and he was not going to make that mistake again.

Blaine picked up Bernadette and said goodbye to Marley before leaving the apartment with Kurt.  They walked back to Blaine and Rachel’s apartment with Kurt making small talk; making meaningless comments about the weather and traffic.  All in an attempt to avoid the awkward silence.

‘Kurt stop being ridiculous.  He is going to think you’re weird, just talk to him. Twenty seconds of courage.’ He thought to himself before starting actual conversation.  “So, Marley has told me a lot about you guys.”

Blaine laughed.  “All good I hope.”

“Of course.”

“Marley is awesome.  We are also really grateful for her help here.”  Kurt flinched slightly when Blaine said ‘we’.  We as him in and his girlfriend, oh and his daughter too.  “Besides Rachel, she is the closest friend I have.  I’m really glad her mom found the job at McKinley.”

“Yea.”  Kurt said through a forced smile.

Soon they arrived at Blaine’s building.  “Hey Kurt, can you hold her for a second so I can unlock the door?”

“Yea sure.”  He replied as the sleeping girl was transferred between their arms.  As uncomfortable in the situation as Kurt felt, for some odd reason he relaxed when holding Bernadette.  She was like a little mini peace keeper.

“I can take her now.”  Blaine said when they walked into the building.

“No it’s okay, you will still need to unlock your door too.”

Blaine just smiled and said, “Okay.” Kurt would have sworn he saw a sparkle in his eye.  Those perfect eyes.  ‘Damnit Kurt, you can’t think about him like that.’  Kurt lost himself in his thoughts as he unconsciously followed Blaine up the stairs and to the apartment.  Blaine opened the door and put the bags down on the floor by the room.

“Come with me, let’s put her in the crib.  I bet she’s worn out from her busy day.”  Kurt followed Blaine silently, his head still in a whirlwind.  When Blaine opened the door to what he thought to be the nursery he nearly choked on air.

“Holy shit.”  Kurt said looking around the room.  He was disgustingly pink and frilly.  There were Beanie Babies everywhere.  Sadly most of the overwhelming pink didn’t come from the crib, but rather the queen sized bed pushed into the corner of the room.

“What?”

“This room.  Good God, I mean, it looks like somewhere Strawberry Shortcake and Holly Hobbie come to hook up.”  Blaine started laughing, throwing his hand over his mouth to muffle the sound so he didn’t wake the baby up.  Kurt walked over to the crib and laid the baby down.

“It is horrible isn’t it?  I swear it’s so sickly sweet that it would make a unicorn throw up.”  Blaine took a look at the sleeping baby before they snuck out of the room, Kurt giving it a disgusted look as he walked out.

“How can you sleep in there?  No offense.”

“None taken.” Blaine became a little more serious. “Besides, that’s Rachel’s room not mine.”

Wait, what?

“You and Rachel don’t share a room?”

“Nope.” Blaine put his hands in his pockets and looked towards the floor.  “Come here, I’ll show you my room.”  Kurt followed Blaine into a small smaller, but yet much nicer bedroom.

“Oh my God, this is so much better.” Kurt said with a chuckle.

“Yea, I forbid Rachel from decorating anything but her own room. I have for years.”

“So, what did you want to talk about?”  Kurt asked completely confused about the whole situation right now.  Blaine and Rachel were boyfriend and girlfriend, but yet they didn’t sleep in the same room in the apartment they shared.

Blaine sat crisscross on his bed and twiddled his thumbs.  Kurt sat down next to him, just close enough to be reassuring, but far enough away to respect his personal space.  Blaine looked down into his lap and took a deep breath.

“Um, I don’t know why, I mean I’ve only know you for a few days, but I – I feel like I can talk to you.”  Kurt looked at him quizzically, but remained silent allowing Blaine to talk.  “Rachel and I aren’t together.”

“You broke up?”

“No.” Blaine sighed.  “We were never really together.”

“I don’t understand.”

“Rachel is the only one who knows.”  Blaine said in almost a whisper and remained silent for a minute.

Breaking the silence Kurt asked: “Knows what Blaine?  You can tell me.”

“I – I’m gay Kurt.”  Whoa.  Those three words hit Kurt like a ton of bricks. After what happened just barely an hour ago, he was not expecting that.  Reflection finally made sense.

“That’s okay Blaine, I mean so am I.” Wait, that didn’t come out right.  “I – I mean you didn’t have to be nervous tell me Blaine.”

“I know, it’s just no one knows.  Not Marley, not anybody.  I’m not really ready to face everything back home.”

“Don’t worry, I won’t tell Marley.  I’m all for being whoever you want to be at your own speed.”

“But wait, you know what that makes Rachel right?”

“What?”

“She’s totally your beard.”  They both started laughing, finally breaking the tension.  “But there is still one thing I am confused about.”

“Bernadette.”

“Yea.”

“She’s slightly easier to explain.  Rachel and I got really drunk one night, and well the rest is history.”

“Ah, I see.  But why the relationship?”

“Because appearances mean a lot to Rachel and I wanted to make sure that I did right by her.  She wouldn’t have been in the situation she was in if it weren’t for me.”

“You know Blaine, the same goes for you.  You wouldn’t be in the situation you are in without her.”

“I know.  You know, she purposely told you about where I work.”

“I figured.”

“She said you were perfect.”

Kurt smiled. “I can assure you, I am far from perfect, but that’s sweet of her.”

“Thank you Kurt.”

“For what?”

“For listening.”

“Anytime.  But can I suggest something?  Maybe you should consider talking to Marley about everything, well maybe some things.  It’s just us out here, out of people you know I mean, and you might as well be able to be yourself right?  Rachel too.”

“Yea, you’re right.”

“You know I knew there was something about you when you sang Reflection.”

“Really?”

“Yea, you were so intense, so sincere with the song.  I thought I was going to cry with their sheer amount of emotion you put into that song.”  Blaine looked and Kurt and smiled.  “Now. You promised me coffee.”

End Notes: Next update hopefully by the end of the week. Lots of work - Time to watch Partners :)
