Bad romance
Kurt was lounging on his couch, the young man had just finished high school and didn’t really know what to do with his life now… He didn’t get into NYADA and to be honest, he didn’t think any further than that. Kurt was going over every option that was left for him, maybe he should just go to the big apple and wing it. Did he have the courage for that? He didn’t know. The man laid there for hours and hours, just thinking. He didn’t really came up with anything though.
A door opened and Burt came walking in. the man knew his son was facing a difficult decision at this point in his life and the elder man was worried. Kurt’s plan didn’t work out and even Burt didn’t know what his son could do now. Burt himself had joined the army for a few years after graduating and he had to admit it made him a better man. It made him the man he was today. It made him accept his son better, and made him see the good in all people. Burt had never looked back on his experiences there with regret and he never would. The father entered the living room and saw his son or rather a shell of what once was his son. Kurt had deflated after seeing his dream being crushed because of that one letter.
Kurt’s friends all had plans, well the ones that graduated with him. Puck was going to LA just as Mercedes, Santana was going to cheerleading college in Louisville, Rachel did get into NYADA and was already packing to head to NYC, Mike was going to Chicago to some dance school and Finn was following Rachel… they all had it figured out. Kurt sighed and sat up straight when he heard his father’s footsteps on the hardwood floor.
The couch dipped and Kurt looked up at his dad.“Hey.” He said with a small voice.
“Hey there, kiddo.” He answered, a sad smile graced his face when he looked at his son.
“Dad… what am I going to do now? I mean… there isn’t really anything here for me but you ,and I love you, but I want more in life. I want to mean something.” The younger said.
“I know, Kurt. Son, you are incredible and you just have to find a new dream to pursue and you’ll be set for life.” Kurt looked into those clear blue eyes and somehow he knew he was going to be ok, somehow he had to be.
“Thanks dad. What, what did you do after graduating?” Kurt asked.
Burt let out a little laugh and told his son he went into the army to serve his country and indeed mean something. Kurt was listening to his father and the more Burt told him about what he had done in the army the more Kurt’s eyes lit up. Burt knew something was going on in that head of his and he didn’t know whether he should like it or not.
“Dad?”
The man took a deep breath and looked at his son again. “Yes?”
“What would you say if…. If I joined the army?”
(^_^)/
Blaine was a fresh graduate from Dalton Academy in Westerville and all his dreams would come true. The young man was bursting with anticipation to begin his new, adult life. He didn’t sit still for a moment, he was always out running or at boxing practice.
Blaine wasn’t such an abnormal kid, maybe you could say he was a tad goofy or something but nothing weird about one Blaine Anderson. Said man came down the stairs and went into the kitchen to grab some breakfast. His mother was cooking eggs and his father was sitting at the table with a paper in his hands.
The boy had been used to this scene ever since he was little, although some things changed… ever since Blaine came out to his family, his father had become more and more distant. The curly haired boy had taken peace with this fact and was now seated next to his older looking version. The fact that he had grown used to the silence didn’t mean it didn’t hurt, even after all this time.
Blaine’s father was two inches taller than him and had jet black hair and piercing blue eyes, his mother on the other hand was a small woman with auburn curls that reached her waist and forest eyes. Blaine knew he had his mother’s eyes and he loved that he shared something else than a good bound with his mom.
The two had become closer the more Blaine’s father ignored the boy. They had formed a unit, one that worked perfectly. The woman placed the pan on the table and scooped up some eggs for her husband and son. “Here you go, dear, enjoy.” The woman said, smiling at her child.
She sat down as well and grabbed her own portion. The older man at the table slowly put away his paper and began eating, in silence. The room was dead quiet, only the cutlery clanging on the porcelain plates disturbed that perfect silence. Hugh Anderson cleared his throat and spoke up.“So… what are you planning for your further life?” he asked.
Blaine looked at his father with a confused stare… did his dad just ask him something? The younger one couldn’t comprehend why his father had spoken to him in such a … nice manner. Normally Blaine would only hear short answers but never such elaborate sentences… not since he was fourteen. “I’m…” he shook his head and continued, “I’m thinking of joining the army, serving my country.” He answered and ate some more eggs.
Hugh looked surprised at his son’s answer, baffled even. “Aren’t, aren’t you … gay, Blaine?” the man asked, confused.
The youngster swallowed down his food and replied. “I am dad, and I’m not sorry about it. I’m done being sorry for things that I can’t change so yes I am gay and yes I’m thinking about joining the army. I want to do that because I want to mean something, not to prove something.” Blaine said, looking his father in the eye.
Something shifted in the man, he shuffled on his chair and cleared his throat once again. “I… I think it would do you good, son.”
Sandra Anderson sat at that table with tears in her eyes. Her son and husband were finally talking again without anything breaking or real fighting. The woman was happy her husband was finally trying, maybe all her pleading did count for something.
“I’m not gonna come back straight, dad.” Blaine said. The man couldn’t deny that hearing his father call him ‘son’ hadn’t touched something inside of him. Blaine hadn’t heard his father’s voice in so long that he felt like he could break down and sob of happiness right here and now, just because he was trying.
“I… I get that son, I… I just want you to know that I’m… I’m proud of you, Blaine.” A single tear rolled down Blaine’s cheek as his mother burst out in tears, Sandra had waited so long for this that she couldn’t contain her happiness. Hugh knew what this moment meant for his family, and after a very long time the man had finally realized that Blaine wouldn’t change, no matter what he did so he better be proud of the son he actually had than the son he sometimes wished he had. The man knew Blaine was a good kid, he graduated top of his class and him joining the army had made the man happy, very happy.

I am really interested in seeing what will happen next. Looking forward to Blaine and Kurt meeting and seeing how they will help each other with this new path that they have each chosen for themselves.
