In the morning the bed was cold and lonely. Blaine clutched at the wrinkled sheets and felt the iron vice around
his heart as he looked at the divot in the pillow where the man he loved had rested his head in the night, but he
was no longer there. Kurt had left him again. Blaine felt a nagging thought clawing at the inside of his head. He
loved Kurt, he really, really did... but... Kurt was a- a prostitute, he didn't love him back and maybe he never
would. He could pay him for all the sex he could afford but nothing would ever change and Kurt still wouldn't be
lying next to him when morning came.
He burried his face in the pillow and let his sobs rip from his chest. He smelt bacon cooking on the air, his
stomach growled at him and he growled back at it, how dare it remind him of something so trivial when he had a
broken heart. He ignored his belly and ignored Cooper's call of "Breakfast, little bro! Get it before it's gone!" and
tried to burrow deeper into the mattress.
"Rise and shine, sleepyhead." The voice came from the doorway and for a split second Blaine thought it was
Cooper, bugging him again, he prepared to yell at him and throw pillows until he kindly removed himself from
Blaine's room, but then the distinct pitch and the gorgeous lilt registered in Blaine's mind. He lifted his head and
looked up at the doorway in disbelief.
"Kurt?"
"The one and only." He smiled, god he was gorgeous when he smiled. "Good morning starshine, the earth says
'hello!', c'mon, we've got to snag a few bits of toast before your brother eats everything."
"Kurt?" Blaine asked again, incredulous.
"Yes, Blaine, we've established this."
"But... it's morning and you're still here. You didn't leave."
Kurt sighed and looked down at his feet, "Well... you paid me through this aftern-Oh!" Blaine had sprung off the
bed and thrown himself at Kurt, wrapping him into a tight, grateful hug.
"Kurt, you stayed! I love you! You stayed!" He went in for a kiss, Kurt turned his head away, denying Blaine's
eager lips.
"No kissing." He said, somberly, as if it killed him to.
Blaine pulled away from Kurt like he'd been burnt, "And never fall in love." He said mournfully.
They stared at eachother but never meeting the other's eye, looking like someone had died, not saying a word,
until cooper called again, "COME GET YOUR BACON NOW, OR YOU WON'T GET ANY!"
Blaine caught Kurt's eye then, "We'd better...." he murmured.
"Yeah... let's...." Kurt said, in little more than a whisper.
They filed into the apartment's small kitchen, Cooper was sitting at the small, round table, halfway through a
brobdingnagian scrambled egg and bacon sandwich. He reminded Kurt of his step-brother, whom he hadn't
seen in years. His profession made it hard for him to look his family in the eye, and they thought he was in
fashion. Everytime he called, his dad would laugh and say things like "How's my son, are you the editor in chief
of vogue yet?" and it killed Kurt. He loved his family more than anything, and yet he avoided them like the
plague. He winced of the memory of Finn and turned his head away to avoid Cooper.
Cooper had been mad at first, when he'd learned Blaine had brought a prostitute to the apartment, but his baby
brother had pleaded with him, and he'd bared his soul and confessed his love for Kurt and insisted that Kurt
was completely trustworthy, and Cooper had accepted and been perfectly friendly when Kurt had wandered out
of Blaine's room and into the Kitchen where Cooper was preparing his morning meal of a blueberry pop-tart and
some red bull, and Kurt had insisted on fixing a real breakfast for the three of them.
Kurt and Blaine took their seats at the little table, and piled food on to their plates in silence. After Blaine's
confession the night prior, and the almost kiss that morning, things were weird between them, neither knew
what to say to the other, and they were both afraid of what might stumble out if they opened their mouths to
speak. Cooper eventually gulped down the last few bites of his sandwich, he pushed his plate toward the
middle of the table, propped his elbows up on the flat surface and folded his hands under his chin, he adressed
Blaine, "So, Blainers, I thought today we could go shopping and you can help me pick out the outfit that makes
me look the most like a sexy, leading man, for that audition that's coming up, and then after that you can help
me run lines, and then maybe tonight we can hang out at the bar and you can be my wingman! How 'bout it,
little bro?"
Blaine cleared his throat and his eyes shifted between Cooper and Kurt, his brother's plans were always so
selfish, and Blaine wasn't an eight year old boy anymore, he wasn't content to just follow around in his brother's
shadow. "Actually, Coop, as awesome as that sounds... I was going to ask Kurt if he wanted to do something
fun together today." It wasn't a lie, he'd been planning on finally taking Kurt on a real date, it was just convenient
that it allowed him to turn down his brother's request.
"Oh, well I d-" Kurt began to speak but was interupted by the elder Anderson.
"Hey, come on, squirt! Bros before hos!"
Blaine felt his stomach lurch at Cooper's words, and a sense of panic spread through his body as his head
swiveled to look at Kurt. "Kurt, no, I-"
Suddenly Kurt was standing, his palms braced against the table, it was painted over his face how clearly
offended he was. "You know what. I actually have tons to do today and my roomate is going to be worried if I
don't get back soon." He stomped back into Blaine's bedroom to get his clothes on as quickly as he could and
leave. Blaine followed him after throwing a disgusted look at his brother.
"Kurt, please stay. Coop didn't mean that, he didn't mean to call you a- you're not a-"
Kurt feigned passivity, "No, it's fine, he's your 'bro' and i'm a 'ho' it's fine. I'm fine."
"Kurt, no, please don't go just because of what my idiot brother said. Please?"
"Blaine, stop. What did you think was gonna happen? You were gonna pay me and then we would make love
and fall in love and spend the day together soaking in eachother's love and go off to get married and have two-
point-five kids and a house in the suburbs? I don't know if anyone ever told you, Blaine, but that's not how
prostitution works." He pulled his shirt over his head and stormed out the door.
"You said you loved me too." Blaine called after him. Kurt stopped and turned slowly to look at Blaine.
"What?"
"You thought i was asleep but I wasn't, and I heard you. You said you loved me too."
"No I didn't."
"Yes you did. You kissed me right here-" he poked himself in the chest, "-and you whispered but I heard it. you
said 'I love you too'"
"Blaine, I- I can't."
"Why the hell not?"
"You know why."
"No I do not. I love you and you said you love me too, why can't we be together? Hmm? Because you're a
prostitute? Well why do you need to be a prostitute? You hate it, I can tell. Why not just quit, Kurt."
"I-I can't."
"Why not? Is it the money? Because, Kurt, I have money, we're rolling in it. I can take care of you! You don't
need this, and then you can go to school and- and you told me you wanted to design clothes when you were
younger, Kurt, that first night remember? There's no reason you can't, Kurt. Please. I love you.. just.. please."
"Why?"
"Why what?"
"Why do you love me?"
"Kurt, that's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard."
"No, Why though? I'm disgusting and-"
"Stop that. You are the furthest thing from disgustng. You're beautiful and kind and smart and thoughtful and
talented and funny and caring and I'm in love with you." He stepped forward and closed the gap between them,
pulling Kurt into his arms.
"Blaine, even if I-" he shook his head, "-I have a lot of problems, Blaine, you don't deserve to be with someone
as fucked up as I am."
"I want your baggage. I've got baggage, everybody has baggage, and when you love someone, you help them
carry their baggage, and then it's not as heavy."
"Blaine, I don't-" Blaine loosened his arms around Kurt's waist, so that Kurt could walk away if he wanted to. He
didn't.
"I won't make you stay if you really don't want to. Just know that I will show up on that corner every night, with a
pocket full of cash, so that I can take you home and make you feel good. Every night until I have made myself
destitute and spent every penny to the name Anderson."
"Blaine-" He had tears running down his cheeks.
"Because I love you, Kurt."
Kurt backed out of Blaine's embrace and ran for the door. He ran down the stairs because the elevator was
taking too fucking long and he needed to get out. He hailed a cab and shouted his adress at the driver, telling
him to hurry.
He stormed up the stairs of his own apartment building and shoved the heavy door to his apartment open. He
found Rachel sitting on their couch, watching cartoons, her pink bong sitting on the coffee table.
"Heyyy look, it's Kuuurrrt. Hi Kurrrt." she drawled out, then giggled.
"Rachel. Goddammit, Rach, I'm in love."
"Noooo. Kurt, you didn't."
"Yeah, I saw him again, and he's so perfect and, just, fuck it, I'm in love with him."
"But the rules.... Kurt?"
"Fuck the rules, Rachel." He paced behind the couch, hands tugging at his hair. "I'm quitting."
"Quitting what?"
"I'm not turning tricks anymore. I love him. I can't-"
"You can't quit...the money's so good."
"BUT I HATE MYSELF FOR IT! Guys have tied me up, cut me, pissed on me, put out their cigarettes on me-
and for fucking what? So I can pay for our rent and so you can pay for your booze and your weed and your
cocaine and whatever else it is that you do, and then I find a guy and he's so wonderful and I love him and you
tell me I can't!?! You know what, Rach, fuck this... fuck you.. I'm quitting, and I'm moving out, and I'm gonna let
myself fall in love and I'm gonna let someone treat me the way I deserve to be treated and I'm going to make
something great of myself like I always said I would. And I really, sincerely hope that you get clean and get out of
this yourself but it's not my problem anymore. I'm gonna pack my things and then I'll leave tomorrow night.
Good Luck."
He stomped off into his own room and began to throw his things together, on the couch, Rachel looked liked
she'd been slapped, "WELL FUCK YOU TOO, BITCH!" She yelled into the other room, but any anger she was
feeling was soon lost in the haze. She resumed watching pinky and the brain and giggling.

Kurt didn't return to Blaine's that night. He stayed at the place that was no longer 'his and Rachel's' but was now
just 'Rachel's', packing up every last thing. He went out to the fire escape in the middle of the night with all of
his sluttiest clothes in a metal trash can, and he set fire to them and watched them burn.
He went to bed late and slept late, and when he woke, Rachel had already left to tend to whatever errands. Kurt
used the few hours he had to wait to take the train to Blaine's neighborhood and walk around, familiarizing
himself with it, he was careful to make sure he didn't run into Blaine on the street, it would ruin his little plan.
Soon enough, it was time, Kurt had waited and it was twenty minutes after he usually joined the other boys on
the street. He walked up to them and they greeted him, as they did every other night, they didn't comment that
he was wearing a rather bulky sweater in lieu of his normal, painted on clothing. He waited and they chatted
until, just as he had promised, Blaine approached. The boys catcalled behind Kurt. Blaine extended his hand,
showing Kurt the wad of large bills in his hand.
"No." he shook his head and Blaine's face shifted into a heart-breaking pout.
"Kurt-"
"No, you won't be paying me, because I'm not a prostitute anymore. I'm quitting."
Blaine's face lit up and he just stared at Kurt, his mouth agape, for a few shocked seconds as the group
surrounding Kurt, twittered with the gossip. "Kurt! You're- are you- what?"
"I love you, Blaine, I love you and I'm not doing this whole thing anymore, so, if your offer still stands from last
night-"
"YES! Kurt, yes, baby, yes! I love you so much!"
Kurt smiled, "I love you too!" and pulled Blaine into a tight embrace, he Kissed him square on the lips. Kurt had
never done anything that felt so right as kissing Blaine.
When the kiss eventually broke, Blaine pulled back just minutely, "No more rules!" he exclaimed.
Kurt tugged him closer, chuckling in amusement. "I love you."
