“Hello?” a tired Kurt answered his phone, gently poking his husband. Blaine sat on the bed, a quizzical look on his face.
“Kurt? Hey, it’s Liv, sorry to wake you up” the familiar voice said
“No problem. I-is there something wrong with the baby?”
“No” Olivia quickly answered, not wanting to worry her child’s dads “It’s just that he, I mean she, I mean he-“ she sighed “The baby just kicked, and I thought it would be nice letting you guys know ”
Kurt was now smiling, so Blaine couldn’t help but do the same. Even though it was dark and it was impossible to see anything, somehow their hands found each other, and now were held as they have been so many times in all these 8 years of nothing but love.
“It was, Liv, thank you”
There was a small – but not awkward – pause.
“Hey, I have an, hm, appointment tomorrow.” she said “The doctor said we’ll finally get to know the baby’s sex. I was wondering if you and Blaine would like to come with me. I mean, if you don’t, that’s totally fine, I can just tell you lat-“
“We’d love to.” Kurt interrupted her
They talked about everything and nothing at the same time for about an hour, until he realized it was almost 3 a.m.
“It’s late, sweetheart, you should probably get some sleep”
She agreed and they said their goodbyes.
Blaine put the book he was reading back in the drawer and turned to Kurt with his “what was that about?” look.
“The baby kicked!” Kurt yelled, looking like a 5 year old child on a candy store “And the appointment is tomorrow. The appointment.”
“What? That’s- that’s incredible, Kurt” Blaine was now as excited as his husband. He leaned forward him and they kissed, smiling against one another’s lips. The kiss itself lasted about 15 seconds, but they stayed there, just looking in each other’s eyes, hazel and blue, for what seemed to be an eternity.
“It’s happening, you know” Kurt broke the silence “Our dreams are finally coming true”
“I thought your dreams came true 3 years ago on that aisle.” Blaine tried to look hurt, but a little smile dancing on the sides of his lips didn’t let him.
“I’ve got many dreams, Mr. Hummel-Anderson. The first one came true when I was 16 and came out of the closet to my dad, who, to my surprise, wasn’t… well, surprised.” he laughed at the memory “The second one came true when I met a certain dapper teenager at a staircase. The third one came true on 2011; March 15, to be exact. The fourth one came true one year later, when the two of us and the New Directions won Nationals for the first – and last - time. The fifth one came 3 years ago, as you said, on that goddamned aisle. Finally, the sixth one will come true in 8 months.”
“7, actually” Blaine corrected
Kurt didn’t answer. Instead, he pulled the other man for one more kiss, this one even more [passionate] that the first one.
“I love you” he said
“I love you too”
