Author's Notes: There's abuse in here, just a warning

Kurt and Blaine were having their tenth birthday. No matter what Mr. Anderson said, Mrs. Anderson said that she believed the relationship between Blaine and Kurt was important. They would have a party together.

"Hi, Blaine!" Kurt ushered him in and gave him a hug. "You could've came through the door, especially with your mom and... woah!"

Blaine giggled as Kurt's blue-gray eyes widened at the large present.

"Sorry, Kurt. We had to wrap it in Christmas paper! It was too big!" Mrs. Anderson chuckled as she climbed through the bedroom window.

"It's okay! Thank you, thank you!" Kurt flung his arms around Mrs. Anderson and Blaine's necks.

"Woah there cowboy, you haven't even opened it yet!" She laughed and walked through the bedroom door.

"You could've come through the door," Burt took the gift and laughed.

"Please," Mrs. Anderson took her son's hand, "We like to make grand entrances."

There was a knock at the door. "That must be Coop, he refused to climb in through the window," Mrs. Anderson rolled her eyes. She opened the door for her son, who was carrying a small package in purple paper.

"Okay, who wants cake?"

The boys rushed through their cake and ice cream. All they wanted was to open their packages.

"Gift time, please!" Blaine begged. "I want Kurt to open mine!"

"The big one should be last, Blaine."

"No, Kurt," Blaine smiled and pulled something out of his pocket, whispering, "I got something special for you."

It was a small envelope. Kurt took it and opened it. Blaine whispered something into his ear and Kurt just nodded and placed the small package in his own pocket.

"Alright, Blaine. You can open one of ours first!" Kurt laughed and tossed Blaine a gift. Inside was a set of eight clip on, neon bow ties.

"Wow, Kurt! Thank you!"

Cooper Anderson handed Kurt a small gift. Inside was a gift card for twenty dollars for Breadstix. "Use it as you will," Cooper nodded. He had one the gift card in a Chinese Auction, but he wouldn't tell Kurt that Kurt thanked him.

"Blaine, here's your last one!" Kurt handed one more gift to him. There was a black suit inside. "You look really awesome in black," Kurt added as Blaine gasped.

"Kurt, I-"

"Don't say anything."

"Thank you," Blaine abandoned the gift for Kurt's neck and a tear rolled down his cheek. "Open ours!"

"Okay." Kurt tore the snowman paper off of the package and found a desktop computer box. ‘With Webcam and Microphone Attachment,' it read. He began to open the box, expecting something else inside.

"No, Kurt," Mrs. Anderson stopped him. "That's what's inside."

Kurt gaped at the box and hugged them. Burt shook his head. "You didn't have to do that."

"I know," Mrs. Anderson mouthed through Kurt's hugs.

"What's a webcam?"

"It's so that you can talk to someone who's far away. We figured you might want it just in case something ever happens."

"Okay, but I don't ever want Blaine to move away!"

"We don't want to move away either," Blaine laughed and threw his arm around Kurt. "Can Kurt stay over at our house tonight?"

Mrs. Anderson paused, the smile fading off of her face. Her husband wasn't due home until late the next afternoon, but he could arrive early. She didn't want to ruin his son's double digits, however, so she nodded.

"Yay!" Blaine and Kurt jumped up and down. They tore off upstairs and Burt began setting up Kurt's desktop.

The boys were cuddled into bed when the door to the house shut. They were sound asleep and Mr. Anderson knew that, but he insisted on going and brushing his fingers through his son's hair. It was the closest to affection that Mr. Anderson had ever been to. When he opened the door, his face became red with rage. He slammed it shut, causing both boys to shoot up.

"Oh no!" Blaine whispered "That's my dad!"

"I can go home, Blaine."

"No, Kurt," Blaine wrapped his arms around his best friend's waist. "You can't leave. He'll... never mind."

"Blaine? What's going on?"

"Nothing. It's nothing." Blaine shook his head and leaned on Kurt's shoulder.

"Tell me, it's not nothing."

Before Blaine could come up with anything to say, there was yelling in the kitchen.

"I told him that he cannot be around that... that... fag!"

"Don't use that language!"

"I'm not religious!"

"I don't care, that's still rude! That's your son's best friend!"

"Kurt is sleeping in bed with OUR son!"

"So? He's never given us a reason to call him gay and remember that I told Blaine that he isn't gay? We don't have anything to worry about."

"I never liked that Burt."

"Don't start."

"Why not?"

"Waste of precious oxygen."

"Kevin!"

"I'm sorry, but it's true. Now, I'm going to go take care of that fag!"

"Kevin!"

"Leave me alone, Emily!" Kevin Anderson blast into his son's room. "Go home, now. Blaine, get your arms off of him!"

"Dad-" Blaine began to protest with tears in his eyes.

"Now!"

Kurt patted Blaine on the shoulder and crawled through the window. He made the metal stairs clank, as to make it appear that he had gone downstairs, but watched through the slots in the closed window shades.

"Blaine Anderson, what did I tell you about him?"

"Dad, he's my best friend!"

"Best friends don't cuddle!"

"Why not?"

"Because two boys can't be together!" Kevin pushed his son off of the bed and unbuckled his belt. "Take your clothes off, now!" He growled.

"Kevin!" Emily shouted from the other room. "Don't."

"Emily, get out of here, now." He slammed the door in her face. Kurt watched in horror as Blaine removed his pajama pants, underwear, and tee shirt. He tried not to wince as Mr. Anderson smacked the leather across his son's back. He shouted "Good for nothing," and other insults as he destroyed his son's back. It was raw and red by the time he was done.

"Go to bed, now," he threw Blaine onto the bed and slammed the door shut. Blaine winced as he reached over and turned the lights off. Kurt heard Mr. Anderson's car door slam shut. Headlights turned on and exposed Kurt on his perch. The door of the car opened and Mr. Anderson climbed the metal steps.

"What the hell do you think you're doing?"

"Why did you do that to Blaine?" Kurt tried to keep his courage.

"Your dad should try it on you sometime, fag." Kevin pushed Kurt into the back of the stairs. Kurt could feel the railing giving way.

"Please, you can hurt me, just leave Blaine alone."

"Oh?" Mr. Anderson chuckled and picked Kurt up by the collar. "Stay away from my son," he growled and threw Kurt into the railing.

It gave way and Kurt fell down. His scream was silenced when he hit the ground.

Kevin Anderson ran to his car and drove away.

When Blaine opened the window, he saw Kurt fall. He saw his dad drive away. He called 911 without even consulting his mother.

When the ambulance arrived, Emily had to hold Blaine back.

"We'll see him tomorrow, love," she  kissed his cheek.
