Blaine sighed as he looked up at the sky. He immediately decided that this was a horrible idea, considering that it was raining down buckets. He dropped his head once more, blinking out the raindrops that had invaded his eyes.
It was becoming increasingly colder, and the rain didn’t look like it was going to let up any time soon. But at least they were at Kurt’s house now, which is most likely the reason that Kurt had decided to stray from the group. Blaine glanced down the road, and back over to Rachel, Finn, Quinn, Santana, and Puck. But Blaine did a double take, thinking that he had seen a blinding light coming near them. Blaine shielded his eyes, blinking furiously from being temporarily blinded by the bright illumination.
“KURT!” He herd Rachel scream. Blaine looked back over to Kurt, hopelessly confused.
“GET OUT OF THE WAY.” Finn hollered.
“Kurt get back! Go!” Was that Santana yelling?
“KURT NO!” Brittany?
What was going on?
“KURT! THE CAR!” That time, Puck was the one who was screaming. And what car? The light that Blaine had seen earlier was rounding rapidly around the corner. Blaine let out a small gasp as he realized what everyone was so worked up over.
“NO! NO KURT! KURT!” Blaine screeched. Kurt whipped his head around, wondering why he and everyone else was yelling at him. But it was too late.
Brittany and Rachel screamed as the car that had came around the corner, hit Kurt with a force so hard, they could hear the sickening ‘CRACK’ of his bones. Brittany gave a small whimper as she hid her face in Santana’s chest. Rachel moved her hand to her mouth, not believing what she had just witnessed.
Silence filled the night’s air, making an eerie atmosphere in the already creepy night. No one moved. No one spoke. They just stood there, unable to function properly.
After about four minutes, Blaine let out a chocked sob. Rachel, Finn, and Puck all looked over at him. He swallowed hard, trying to get up enough courage to move, or speak. Finn looked deeply concerned as he watched as Blaine’s finger started to twitch at his side. The cold, hard rain poured down on all of them, making chills run up their spines.
Finn looked back over at the car that had hit Kurt. The person was leaning his head against the steering wheel, his back moving rather quickly. Finn figured that he was either crying, or hyperventilating. Finn’s eyes wandered over to Kurt’s body as it lay motionless on the ground, 10 feet away from where the car was sitting. Finn sighed as he looked down at Rachel, who was by his side now, and he instinctively moved his hand to skim over her head.
Blaine took a slight step forward, slowly regaining his motor skills back. Rachel starred after Blaine as he took another step. Then another. And another. Finn turned his head slightly to find that Blaine was a good 12 feet away.
“Blaine…” He called. Blaine ignored Finn as he stepped closer to his boyfriend’s unmoving body. His pace grew faster after each step he took. And it wasn’t soon until Blaine was standing over Kurt. He slowly knelt down next to him, taking Kurt’s head in his own hands. He could feel Kurt’s shallow breath, and Blaine sniffed as he starred down at him.
“Call an ambulance.” Finn whispered over to Rachel. She nodded, and took out her sparkled pink phone.
“Can I look San San?” Brittany asked, her head still buried into Santana’s chest. Santana took in a deep breath.
“ Not yet Britt…”
Quinn was crying by Puck’s side, beginning to drop to her knees rather slowly. Puck frowned as Quinn plopped down on the ground, slowly raising her hands to her head.
“Yes? Our friend was hit by a car… uh huh…yeah. He’s lying on the ground… We don’t know… Uh huh… yes… No….” Rachel spoke into her phone.
How could she be so clam? Finn wondered as he looked around at everyone else.
Puck knelt beside Quinn, holding her tight. Santana decided to walk over to Puck and Quinn, Brittany still being held by her, and sat Brittany down on the ground next to Quinn.
“Santana… I’m scarred… What’s wrong with Kurt? Why isn’t he moving?”
Santana sat cross legged on the floor. She took Brittany’s hands in her own, trying to comfort her. “Kurt was hurt really badly, Britt. He… He may not be back for a while…”
Quinn let out a loud cry when she heard Santana explain this. Santana glanced over at Quinn, then back over at Brittany.
“ I don’t understand…” Brittany said, starring over at Kurt and Blaine.
“No… Right… Okay… yes… His boyfriend… yes. Boyfriend… A car… No. He’s still in there…” Rachel paced around in the road.
Santana lowered her voice a tiny bit, trying not to upset Quinn even more.
“Do you remember… When we watched Bambi together?” Santana asked, looking into the other cheerleader’s confused eyes.
Brittany nodded her head. “Bambi was a deer! And he had a friend rabbit!”
“ Well… Do you remember the part where… Bambi went back to his home? And his mother wasn’t coming back?”
Brittany nodded once again.
“What do you mean you can’t get here in time?!?!” Rachel yelled into the phone.
Quinn let out another loud sob. Puck rubbed her back. “Shhh…” He whispered.
“Well… Let’s say that Blaine is like Bambi… And… Kurt is his mother…”
Blaine’s head was leaning on Kurt’s unmoving chest. “Kurt… I’m so sorry…” He mumbled.
Santana shook her head. Brittany looked even more confused.
“You don’t understand! You have to send for help!” Rachel looked at Finn for help. But Finn merely shook his head, for he was on the phone also.
Puck looked at the large dent that was in the front of the car, then at the man who was driving it earlier. He was outside in the rain, holding a phone to his ear, and yelling on the other end of the line.
The man ran over to Finn and Rachel, holding his own phone is his hand. “They should be here soon.” He said in a deep voice.
“Kurt you can’t leave us. Please. Just wake up…” Blaine said through cries.
“Puck…” Quinn said at last. Puck looked down at the Blonde sitting next to him. “Call an ambulance.”
Puck nodded as he pulled out his cell phone, and dialed the three digit number, even though Finn, Rachel, and the man had already did so.
“Kurt isn’t coming back…” Santana said.
“Kurt please. After all we’ve been through. YOU CAN’T DO THIS TO ME.” Blaine hollered as he lifted his head up from Kurt’s chest.
Finn looked up from the ground, and over to Blaine. He sighed as he gave Rachel his phone as he ran over to Blaine. He tried to pry him off of Kurt’s body, but Blaine fought back, yelling and screaming.
“LET GO OF ME FINN.”
Puck saw that Blaine was being difficult, so he ran over to help out also. It took some effort, but both Finn and Puck pulled Blaine away from Kurt, dragging him over to the curb on the side of the road.
“Let me go see him!” He tried to kick Finn, but Finn ignored Blaine’s foot hitting his leg.
“We can’t.”
“NO. LET ME GO SEE HIM. KURT! DON’T LET THEM DO THIS! KURT!.” Blaine tried to wiggle out of their grasps.
“HE’S GONE ALRIGHT.” Puck yelled. “HE’S GONE AND HE’S NEVER COMING BACK.”
Blaine flinched a little “No he’s not! He has to come back. KURT!” Blaine broke loose of Finn and Puck’s grasp, but tripped on his way to running over to Kurt.
Rachel saw Blaine stumbling her way. She ran in front of him, and grabbed his shoulders, holding him down, and turning him around so that he wasn’t facing Kurt anymore.
“Let go of me! Kurt!” He yelled, turning his head around.
“Blaine! Listen to me!” She shook him slightly, trying to get his attention. Blaine looked at her, his face filled with pain.
“The doctors said that they couldn’t do anything by the time that they got here. They said that the impact of the car, and force that it hit Kurt with would be too much for Kurt to handle.”
“No! They have to help Kurt! They have to!” Blaine’s voice was mulled over with panic.
“They can’t… I know it’s hard. You don’t want to believe it. You won’t want to let go of him. But you have to. You have to stay strong for him. He would want that.” Rachel tried to look sympathetic and controlling at the same time.
“But-”
“You have to stay strong… For Kurt… And you need to understand that Kurt may not make it through this one. The doctors will do all that they can… But you just need to listen to us right now.”
Blaine hesitated. But after a few moments, he nodded his head.
“For Kurt.” He said, running his sleeve over his eyes. Rachel loosened his grip on Blaine’s shoulders.
With a sigh, he turned around, and walked toward his lover.
Rachel walked over to Finn and Puck, who were now sitting on the curb.
“Are you going to stay strong?” Finn asked, holding Rachel’s hand.
She waited. “ No…” She said with a smile as a tear fell from her face.
Blaine closed his eyes, and knelt beside Kurt, grabbing his cold, hard hand. Blaine opened his eyes before talking.
“Kurt… I’m so sorry.” Blaine tried to suppress his tears, but to no avail.
In the distance, Blaine could hear the soft moan of the ambulance’s siren. Blaine took a deep breath, rubbing his thumb over his boyfriend’s palm. “You were your own unique person… And I honestly love that about you. You were always strong, and you tried to find the best in people, even if it was difficult at most.”
Blaine gripped Kurt’s hand harder. “But this time… I’m going to have to be strong… Even if it’s hard. We’ve been through… so much together. And I just don’t want to let that go.” Kurt’s finger twitched.
“I just love you so much. So no matter what happens, I’ll always be here for you. Till death do us part…”
Kurt tilted his head a tiny bit. Blaine, who had his head down, didn’t notice this.
“B-Blaine?” Kurt whispered, his voice hoarse.
Blaine looked up, unbelievingly.
“Kurt?” He asked, holding up both of their hands. “Rachel!” Blaine called, turning his head around.
“It’s okay Kurt… You’re going to be fine.” Blaine smiled as tears rolled down his face.
Rachel gasped when she saw Kurt with his eyes open half way. “Finn! Puck! Quinn! Santana, Britt! Kurt’s okay!!” Finn and Santana and Brittany came running over. Quinn looked up, her face still with shock.
The ambulance came rounding around the corner, shutting off it’s siren as two men in white uniforms came out the back, and around the vehicle with a gurney.
“We’re here, Kurt. Everything’s going to be alright…” Blaine said, nodding.
Kurt shut his eyes. “I’m sorry.” He said.
“Sh… It’s ok…” Blaine whispered. “We’re here for you… Everything’s going to be alright.”
