Finn slowed to a stop on a narrow Westerville street. The town was picturesque, store-fronts were painted to perfection and flower beds of every colour under the sun graced both sides of the pavement.
I spotted an indistinct figure some distance ahead of us. Was he a Warbler? I couldn't see him clearly enough to make out a blazer, or anything else for that matter.
Finn and Sam had obviously seen him too.
"Ooh, yay, Sam, look what we have here..." he started. "We might be lucky and catch the Queen Bee."
Blaine Anderson. I had been studying "The Queen Bee's" ways from the sidelines for months. And now we were about to meet for the first time. In the most dreadful way possible.
Sam chuckled deviously beside me, his upper body shaking slightly. The grin that had spread across both boys' faces confirmed my worst fear.
As Finn had so nicely put it on countless occassions, shit was about to go down.
**
Finn was standing triumphantly, arms folded, a smug smile plastered across his face. Sam was on the ground, clenching his stomache and moaning in pain. And Blaine, well, he might aswell have been dead. He lay on the grey concrete, motionless, the only indication that he was in fact alive was the irregular rise and fall of his ribcage. Finn rolled Sam over onto his back with his toe.
"Get up you idiot. We have to get out of here. You know, before we end up at the station? "
What, so they were going to leave him there to bleed to death? Because that was most certainly what would happen without attendance to a nasty looking cut on his left temple. A velvet red pool of blood was collecting on the path around him. My stomache lurched at the sight of it. I was not cut out for this.
"You too Kurt. We have to leave. NOW! " Finn had made the transfer from a snake-like villain to a booming giant in a split second. I jumped a little, btu didn't move from my spot.
"Really? Do you want to stay? You'll get the blame you know? You'll be arrested. Imprisoned. "
I was conflicted. They were always making me choose between my heart and my head. That day,my head won the battle. I shot one last glance at the gruesome scene, before returning to Finn's truck in four gargantuan strides.
I was leaving that guy to die. After all, he was the competition. The enemy.
