Kurt texted Rachel as he approached his apartment steps.
I’m home safe & sound, goodnight Miss Berry x
Once he was inside - after having to try 3 different keys (because even after 9 months, he still didn't know what key to use), he settled down on the sofa and sighed.
Twenty minutes later he was woken up to his phone buzzing on the side of the sofa.
Good, at least I know that guy didn't jump you once I'd left ;)
Kurt rolled his eyes, and clicked reply
“That guy” is called Blaine, and no he didn't jump me, see you tomorrow Berry.
After no other reply from Rachel, he decided that he really ought to do a few designs for college, since he really didn't’t want to fail this course.
He pulled out everything from his bag and spread it out on the floor before sliding off the sofa to sit in front of the sketchbook.
He thought about it for a few minutes before slowly sketching a figure, after a while he stopped to brush his hair off of his face and realized that the clothing he was designing were items that would suit the curly haired man who was seemingly still on his mind.
He groaned and leant back against the sofa, closing his eyes and tried to clear his head.
~*~*~*~
He woke up the next morning to someone pounding on the front door of his apartment, he only then realized that he was in the same position on the floor as he was last night (and in the same clothes too), he stood up and clicked his neck and wrists before stumbling over to the door and wrenched it open, revealing Rachel in a brightly coloured jumper which was far too bright for that time of the morning.
"What do you want?" Kurt questioned in a grumpy tone as Rachel flounced past him into his living room.
"Kurt did you fall asleep here?" she questioned, as the male closed the door and wiped a hand over his face.
"yes I did, now I'm going to ask again, what do you want?" Kurt asked as he walked past his friend and began to make himself a cup of coffee.
"I'm here to find out the details of what happened after I'd left and also what you've bought Finn for his birthday!" she replied as she sat down on the sofa and began to unbutton her coat.
Kurt sighed and glared at her.
"nothing happened Rachel, I stayed for a while writing things and drawing a bit, I then had coffee and came home." Kurt said as he mixed his coffee, "oh, and I've just got Finn a ticket to a football game that he's wanted to go to for ages."
"where did you buy coffee?" Rachel asked.
"Blaine made me a cup." Kurt said and then winced at the way his friend squealed loudly.
"he made you coffee?! That's so cute!" she rushed out in a highlighted tone of voice, "anyway, I'm here to tell you that I left my notebook at the store so you're coming with me to go get it." she waved her hand towards the door, meaning she wanted Kurt to shower and get ready.
Kurt groaned as he left the room and headed to the bathroom.
Forty five minutes later, Kurt was dressed in a rolled up pair of jeans, shirt and navy blazer, and Rachel handed him his bag before the pair were leaving Kurt small apartment and headed back to the small bookstore.
Kurt was slightly glad that they were going back, it did mean he got to see Blaine again (and totally not stare at his ass for 5 minutes), but also annoyed that he wasn't able to watch TV for a few hours before going out for a jog - it was Saturday morning after all.
They soon reached the store, but only after Rachel complained about Finn at Least 20 times and the fact she apparently wasn't given a lead role - frankly Kurt didn't give a damn because he knew that next week, Rachel would tell him that she managed to get the lead role anyway.
~*~*~*~
They entered the store just as Blaine came down that little flight of stairs, muttering something along "and of course it wasn't you who ripped up my post" in a sarcastic tone as the fluffy dog from the day before followed him.
"you know, they say talking to yourself is the first sign of madness." Kurt commented, scaring Blaine who almost dropped his mug of coffee.
"Kurt, you scared the life out of me!" he yelped as he put his cup on the desk and put a hand over his heart in a dramatic fashion, "Also, I was talking to Leo not myself."
Kurt gave him a quizzical look.
"oh, Leo is my dog." he said as he motioned to the dog who Rachel was now petting and cooing over.
"anyway now your mothers meeting is over, we're here because I left my notebook behind yesterday, do you have it?" Rachel asked, standing up and brushing the dog hairs off her jumper.
"oh yes! Did it have stars on?" Blaine asked as he walked behind the desk and started going through a pile of papers.
"yes, that's the one." Rachel replied, Kurt however was too busy checking Blaine out - the man was wearing a navy jumper over a red and white checkered shirt, a pair of jeans (which yes, did make his ass look absolutely divine) and what looked like only a pair of brightly coloured socks.
"here it is!" Blaine exclaimed and turned around, causing Kurt to quickly look at something else and try to stop blushing.
"thank you so much! I think I would die without this!" Rachel said in reply and clutched it in her hands.
"drama queen." Kurt whispered, causing Rachel to nudge him in the ribs, making him yelp in pain.
"anyway, we ought to be going, things to do, places to be and all that, thanks again!" Rachel said, grabbing Kurt's arm and tugging him towards the doorway.
"oh wait a minute!" Kurt said, pulling his arm out of Rachels grip and shuffling through his bag - why the heck did Rachel put everything that was on the floor into his bag? - and pulled out his sketchpad, flicking through it quickly, making both Blaine and Rachel wonder what he was doing.
He carefully pulled a page out, making sure that he didn't rip it and handed it over to Blaine.
"uh...it Should be for college but you should take it, I think you'd suit something like this." Kurt said, making himself blush.
Blaine took the sheet of paper and smiled, "thanks Kurt, and really?”
Kurt nodded in reply making Blaine smile.
He then found a piece of paper and wrote something down, thrusting it towards Kurt with a grin, "Read it later, you need to get going anyway, I think your friend will kill you otherwise." he said with a wink and Rachel promptly yanked his arm again and took them out of the shop, waving at Blaine.
~*~*~*~
Once they had got to a different block, Rachel stopped them and demanded that Kurt read the note.
He opened it and saw that there was a message in slightly messy handwriting.
“One should either be a work of art, or wear a work of art." - Oscar Wilde.
Text me sometime? 324-555-1297 :-)
Kurt blushed and handed it to Rachel as they began walking again.
"he likes you!" Rachel practically yelled at him.
Kurt shushed her, "eh, I don't know, let's go for coffee." he said before pocketing the note and changing the subject, making Rachel huff.
Two hours later, Kurt finally returned to his apartment and collapsed on the sofa, turning on the television.
"ugh cooper Anderson why won't your adverts just stop showing for once, I'm bored of them now!" Kurt said to himself as he changed the channel, trying to get away from the advert.
~*~*~*~
He pulled his phone out of his pocket and then remembered the note Blaine had given him.
He tapped the number into his phone and sent a simple text.
hi, it's Kurt, thanks for the quote! :)
And then proceeded to curl up on the sofa and watch re-runs of Americas next top model and project runway for the rest of the day.
By 8pm Kurt still hadn't had a reply from Blaine and was beginning to question whether he'd been given a fake number. He made and ate dinner, had a shower, did his moisturizing routine and by the time he was ready to go to bed, there was still no reply from Blaine so he turned his phone onto silent and went to sleep, both wondering (and dreaming) whether the man was actually gay and whether he really was interested in Kurt, After all, he hadn't been in a relationship for over a year so someone being attracted to him was a surprise.
