"Im home", Kurt calls from the corridor while he's untying his shoes.
"We're in the kitchen", Carole answers.
"Phew, finally weekend." Kurt plumps down next to his dad at the kitchen table. "Why are you home dad? Aren't you supposed to be in the shop?" he asks and takes gratefully the plate of soup Carole offers him.
"Well, I got my work done and I wanted to keep my afternoon clear so I closed earlier today."
"I see, so do we have anything planned this weekend? I'd really like to escape schoolwork at least on Saturday."
Carole stifles a laughter and exchanges a strange glance with Burt.
"Not yet, honey but I'm sure we can figure something out."
Kurt wrinkles his brow in wonderment about their weird reaction. He has barely eaten his soup as the doorbell rings.
Carole jumps up and Burt pats nervously sweat from his forehead with his napkin.
"Would you open the door Kurt?" Carole says.
Kurt gets up and bites back the question then why she even stood up, the two seem to be a little bit odd today. He reaches the door and opens it.
"Hello handsome", Blaine greets him, leaning in the doorframe. He makes a bow and reaches out his hand.
"Do you wanna go on a ride with me?" He shakes some care keys in his other hand and steps aside to reveal the view on a beautiful bright red polished convertible that looks like it's arisen from an old movie and parks in front of the house.
"W-what?", Kurt stares back and forth between Blaine, the convertible and Carole who hands him a packed travel back and pushes him outside the door.
"I packed the necessaries", she says and kisses him on the forehead.
Burt gives him a tight hug and slips hundred dollars in his pocket. "Be careful, have fun, call me when you arrive and no drinking!"
Kurt is still speechless and lets Blaine direct him towards the car. After he has stowed Kurt's bag in the backseat he opens the door for him and makes an inviting gesture.
"C'mon babe, hop in."
Kurt blushes hardly at the term of endearment. Weak at the knees he gets into the car and Blaine closes the door behind him. He gets around the convertible and jumps easily over the drivers door. He turns on the engine and drives hooting and waving down the road. Carole and Burt wave back and Burt grumbles to himself: "What have I let my self in for..."
Kurt waves his parents helplessly goodbye, his mind still not processing what has just happened.
Blaine beams at him clearly satisfied that his surprise blew Kurt away.
"What the hell has just happened?!" Kurt gasps and stares at Blaine.
"I told you you would find out soon what I was discussing with your dad at the barbecue. Judging by your reaction my plan worked out and I guess you're surprised."
"I am definitely and absolutely deeply surprised", Kurt laughs. "Oh gosh, Blaine you're crazy! Where are we driving? How did you convince my dad? Are we going to sleep there? Hopefully Carole packed my skin care equipment and enough clothes. And where have you got that car from anyway?", Kurt spouts excitedly.
"Kurt, hold on!", Blaine chuckles. "As regards convincing your dad, you know I am very charming and irresistible."
Kurt snorts with laughter. "Of course."
"Okay I admit, I nearly peed my pants when I asked him. But I was thinking about to take you to that festival that takes place this weekend for a long time and it seemed the perfect opportunity since he met my parents at the barbecue. Wherewith your other question where're heading is also answered."
"A festival? Music and a whole weekend alone with my boyfriend? Sounds too good to be true." He claps excitedly his hands as something else comes to his mind. "But why did your father drop the meat? I remember him looking a little scandalized after my father told you something with a wagging finger."
Blaine's cheeks color red and he stares suddenly very concentrated on the road.
"Um, well lets say your father can be very bluntly when he wants to make sure his son is protected in special conditions of life."
"Oh my god, he didn't - I'm so sorry. That's so embarrassing." Kurt hides his face in his hands and both giggles helplessly.
"And where do you have that car from?" Kurt asks to change the subject.
"It was a spontaneous loan from my brother. After he overheard me talking about the festival with my parents he offered me his car. he said. I don't know where his sudden generosity came from but I think it's a well deserved redemption for all these times he disturbed us or manipulated our dates. Regardless I think highly of him to trust me with his beloved jewel."
"It's truly beautiful." Kurt leans back against the seat and peeks sideways to admire the other beautiful thing besides the car. His devastatingly attractive boyfriend has turned his gaze back on the street so Kurt can take him in unnoticed. He wears a pair of brown oxfords, as usual very figure flattering and this time light colored pants with a simple grey-blue polo, everything topped off with a bow tie as bright read as the car and a pair of rayban sunglasses. Kurt has only seen him once in a bow tie before in combination with his work clothes from the coffee shop but it really suits him even more perfectly with his casual clothes. Also his hair looks stunning and super fluffy today, the perfect mixture of using gel but still showing a bit of his natural curls.
Apparently Kurt has taken a little bit to much time to openly stare at Blaine with a dreamy expression on his face because Blaine catches him starring and stares back with an amused smile playing on his lips.
"If you're drooling on the seat Cooper will kill me."
Kurt's eyes spring back on the road and he chews with flushed cheeks on his bottom lip.
"But if I get such looks from you in return I think it's worth it", Blaine says and stretches out his left hand to feel the airstream rush past.
Kurt turns towards him with an adoring smile and still chewing on his bottom lip.
"Oh god, and please stop nibbling at your bottom lip, if you don't want to have an accident because I really can't stop staring at it. Your very distracting."
Kurt laughs loudly and stretches his arm out of the window, too. "Now are you going to show me what this baby can do, or what?"
Blaine returns his challenging look and floors the gas pedal.
They cannonball along the empty highway and Kurt throws his hands in the air with a whoop of joy.
It seems to get a long drive and they turn on the radio to sing along to the songs. They make a game out of it. Both take turns in setting randomly the radio to a new station and they have to sing along to the song that is currently playing. They sing their way through classic, country, hard rock and soul for nearly an hour. Their voices harmonize perfectly together and Blaine compliments Kurt on his voice what makes him blush and he feels flattered because no one has ever said that before. Kurt already knew that Blaine has a wonderful voice from his secret eaves dropping operation in the glee club but live it was just non-stop goosebumps. But after they sang the whole radio traffic service they decide to stay at one station because they aren't very keen on singing the weather report, too.
"Can I ask you something?", Kurt says and turns down the boring country song that's playing.
"Sure, whatever you want to know", Blaine answers curiously.
"It's just... I wanted to know if...", Kurt hem and haws.
"Just tell me", Blaine reassures him.
"Are you aware that you called me babe earlier when you picked me up?"
Blaine looks at him surprised. "Did I? I'm sorry if you don't like to be called pet names. It really was unconsciously", says sheepishly.
"Some might think it's cheesy but um, actually I really loved it", Kurt blushes and looks towards Blaine bashfully.
"Well, if that's the case then I'm going to keep it in mind", Blaine says and eyes him with a roguish smile before he turns his gaze back to the road and adds: "You're blushing, babe."
Kurt smacks his arm mock offended but laughs.
"Okay, but now I have a question for you, too. And it's one of the greatest import." Kurt awaits Blaine's question all joking aside. "Would you rather live a week in the Disney castle or live a week in the Hogwarts castle?"
"That's the question?", Kurt laughs,"you scared me for a second."
"Choose wisely it may affect if this relationship will work." Blaine is still dead serious.
"Mmh, okay it's a very tough decision."
"I know!", Blaine interrupts him excitedly, "on one hand there's this fantastic magical world of Hogwarts and all the cool people you could meet but on the other hand can it beat the magic of disney music and stories that make you cry every time?!", he rambles enthusiastically.
"Hold on, this seems to be a very passionate topic for you." Kurt giggles and pats Blaine's shoulder. "At the risk of breaking your heart but I have to choose the Disney castle because there may have been a time when I had a serious crush on Prince Charming."
"That's a powerful point, he is very good looking so I'll accept your answer."
"Thank god", Kurt mouthes and fakes to wipe sweat off his forehead.
"Though I would rather choose Hogwarts because I would die to meet the Weasleys. And you've really been in love with a fictional character?", Blaine says with a laugh.
"Don't judge me okay!" Kurt blushes and continues sheepishly, "the love stories were always really romantic okay and like you said the music makes you emotional."
"You're very sweet", Blaine says honestly but still is smiling widely. "I have another question for you. Have you ever slept naked?"
"Okay we're absolutely stopping this game now!", Kurt yells and Blaine nearly causes a pileup because he cracks up so hard.
They are driving for about three hours when they decide to make a break at a rest stop. They quickly use the restroom and grab something to drink and some sweets. Kurt sucks on the blue lollipop he has bought while their walking around the parking lot to stretch their legs.
"Shall I drive now? You surely need a break and I promise I'll drive extra carefully", he offers.
"No, it's okay. I invited you and I'll drive you. Besides then I would need to tell you where exactly we're heading."
"Okay", Kurt says and kisses Blaine's cheek", but tell me when you get too tired."
They get in the car again and drive on. Kurt watches the scenery pass by, chewing on the remain of his lollipop. They hit a traffic jam but luckily only for a few meters, Kurt can already see the exit Blaine wants to turn off. While they slowly make their way towards it the drivers they pass next to Blaine shoot him strange looks, some even laugh openly and one girl whistles at him.
"Are they laughing at me?", Blaine turns confused to Kurt.
Kurt has to snicker too as he sees Blaine's left cheek. "Yes, they are. You have a blue impression of my kissing lips on your cheek."
Blaine watches his cheek in the driving mirror and laughingly tries to wipe off the blue color from Kurt's lollipop-kiss.
"Oops, then I want a lolly too and I'll kiss your whole face later."
Kurt sticks out his blue colored tongue and passes him the bag.
They're driving nearly two hours till they stop at a gas station. Blaine drove for five hours and he looks very tired but still refuses to admit it. Kurt goes to use the restroom and as he comes back he finds Blaine asleep with his head on the steering wheel. He walks around the car to the drivers side and strokes lightly Blaine's back to wake him.
"Blaine, come on I'll drive now. Go over to the passenger side and relax a little bit."
Blaine give up his resistance and walks over to the other side of the car. Kurt stows away m the two coffees and the sandwiches he has just bought and Blaine describes him shortly the way before he passes out immediately.
At 9pm they finally arrive at the festival terrain. They park the car at the excluded parking lot and carry their bags and the tent Blaine brought to the camping area where many other tents were already set up in several rows. They find a free spot and Blaine begins to put up the tent while Kurt helplessly tries to understand the instruction booklet.
"Where did you learn that?" Kurt asks as he admires the bolt upright tent.
"Boy scout remember." Blaine answers and rummages around in the tent to spread out their sleeping bags.
The camping area is located a little distance outside the concert area. Kurt can see the big stage and a band was already playing. Many people dance in front of the stage, next to little booths with food or trinkets. Blaine crawls out of tent and takes excitedly Kurt's hand to tug him towards the bustle.
"Wait I sadly have to call my dad first, then we can kick off. He impressed me on calling him when we arrive."
Blaine pouts, looks longingly towards the stage and bounces restlessly around Kurt while he dials his dads number.
"Hi dad, it's me."
While Kurt is talking with his dad, Blaine plays with the fingers of the hand he isn't holding the phone with. Impatiently he rubs his nose against Kurt's shoulder like a cat. Kurt tries to concentrate on the conversation with Burt and wiggles him off laughingly. But Blaine kisses his neck at the side with loud smacking noises to make him hang up faster. Kurt takes a deep shaky breath and tries frantically to answer properly to his dads questions.
"Stop it", Kurt whispers and squirms away from him. "No, n-nothing dad, everything is fine. Yes, we'll see us on Sunday, uh-huh, okay, bye."
Kurt has barely ended the call as Blaine jumps excitedly and drags him towards the booths. They inspect every corner of the terrain. There is an enormous variety of food from every country you can imagine, one even has german schnitzel and beer. They try silly hats and glasses, buy lottery tickets and take funny pictures. Kurt queues up to buy them something to drink and as he returns with two cokes in his hand he finds Blaine standing in front of a candy store. With huge eyes Blaine looks at the sweets and the man sells him a giant colorful lollipop. Blaine returns to Kurt grinning from ear to ear and licking at his lolly that's nearly as big as his head.
"You did not just bought that", Kurt says and breaks out in laughter.
"Yes I have and I know you're bursting with envy."
Kurt hands him his coke and they walk on towards the stage.
"Please young man!" A women in a strange purple robe with star pattern and a turban on her head addresses Kurt. "I need to talk to you immediately!" She runs towards them, grabs Kurt's hand and turns it around so that she can see his palm. "Oh, yes that's what I have already assumed."
Kurt raises irritated an eyebrow and pulls his hand back. "Um, I'm sorry, do we know each other?"
The middle aged women tumbles and Blaine rushes to steady her.
"Know each other? No, no..." She scratches her head thoughtfully. "Please follow me to my booth over there and I'll explain."
Kurt looks at Blaine in confusion and they follow the women. She stops at a booth and Kurt reads the sign above it. .
"She's a fortune-teller", he whispers to Blaine.
"Do you believe in such nonsense?", Blaine whispers back.
"Actually I am a little bit superstitious", Kurt says.
The women most likely Fantine sits down on one of the two chairs in front of her booth and points Kurt to sit across from her. She takes his palm and strokes along the lines of his skin.
"I see... Oh, you're a very lucky boy!"
"What do you see?", Kurt asks eagerly.
"I knew it from the moment I saw you two walking by, keep you're eyes open because as fate has ordained you're going to meet the women you'll marry some day at this festival!"
Blaine snorts and the coke he has nipped on spurts from his nose. Kurt dies of laughter himself and claps Blaine on the back because he nearly chokes on the soft drink. The women looks irritated at them.
"My lovely women, I think you really need to practice on your prophecies, because this one is definitely never gonna happen." Kurt says, stands up, fists Blaine's shirt and plants a shameless and extensive kiss on his mouth. And as Blaine slips his hands in Kurt's back pocket and deepens the kiss the fortune teller looks like she would faint and fall off her chair.
They laugh the whole way to the stage till tears run down their cheeks.
"Oh my god, did you see her face!", Kurt holds his stomach and catches his breath.
"I know! I hope she hasn't gotten a heart attack! God, it was so hot of you to kiss me like that in front of her." Blaine says and steals another kiss from Kurt who giggles happily. "Now, do you still believe in fate?"
"Well, I do I just think that she can't read my palm in the right way, because what else can it be than fate that brought us together."
Blaine stares lovingly at him and Kurt kisses him chastely one last time before he tugs him towards the stage.
