Burt hangs his jacket on the warderobe. He really needs a shower after the exhausting work in the tire shop toady. He checked all the machines in the tire shop and Carole helped him to hang up some decorations for the grand opening tomorrow. The heat hasn't made it easier but the sky looks like a thunderstorm would approach that would cool the air a little bit. Carole quickly goes upstairs to use the restroom. Finn must hang out with his friends because his car isn't parking in the driveway. But Kurt must be at home. Burt calls for him but gets no answer. He walks upstairs to check his room but it's empty. Maybe he's in the garden so he can't hear him he thinks and walks through the kitchen towards their big glass slide door. And yes, Kurt is in the garden. But he isn't alone. For a moment Burt is glued to the spot and can't believe what is happening in his backyard. He can barely see Kurt's face because another body is covering his son's. And they seem to kiss very passionatly. He fastly hides behind the wall next to the slide door. Oh and Burt knows this boy. He has bothered his head about him and his relation to his son all day since he caught the two kissing on his doorstep yesterday. He noticed how happy Kurt was since he has met him and he seems to make the move for Kurt easier and also he seems like a nice boy. But for Burt's taste things between them move absolutely too fast and this situation confirms him that the time for a serious conversation between father and son about responsibility, trust and protection has come. And he has prepared himself. Before he drove to the tire shop this morning he got several pamphlets and he will talk about them with Kurt today no matter how embarrassing it might be for both of them.
"Oh they make a picnic that's so sweet." Carole has returned from the bathroom and stands directly in front of the glass slide door in perfect sight for Kurt and Blaine. Burt jacknifes and drags Carole behind the wall.
"Psst! They might hear or see us Carole."
Carole raises her eyebrows and shoots him a look like she thinks her husband has gone crazy and walks into the living room. Burt sighs with relief the boys havn't seemed to notice them. But as he leans back against the wall he pushes accidentally the button that activates the shutters of the windows in the living room. With the hell of a row they go down. Burt steals into the kitchen and peeks behind the curtains to look into the garden. Kurt and Blaine have stopped kissing and look startled in the direction where the noise came from. Burt holds his breath. Kurt says something to Blaine and quickly they return to their previously activity. Burt shakes his head in disbelief but is also relieved that they havn't caught him checking on them. He decides to shower first and leave them their alone time for a bit longer.
As he returns shortly afterwards from the bathroom he actually expects Kurt and Blaine inside chatting with Carole in the kitchen or something because it has began to pour with rain. But he finds Carole alone in the living room on the sofa.
"Are they upstairs?", Burt asks his wife.
Carole chuckles," no, they are still outside under the sunshade. And they are very lost in eachother I think they haven't even noticed that it's raining."
Burt looks confused out of the window. And it's true Kurt and Blaine are still akwardly entangled in eachother and Burt isn't even able to make out which hand belongs to whom.
"But I think they're doing a good job to keep eachother warm", Carole adds and laughs.
Burt doesn't find the situation as funny as his wife and attempts to call them to come inside.
"Oh Burt, don't. I'm sure they will recognize it any minute and come inside. But if you go outhere as Kurt's protective father you will emberass your son and scare the poor other boy to death."
Burt hesitates and looks towards them again.
Everything is hot. Blaine's skin is burning and his lips are swollen from their heated kissing. Every spot where Kurt touches him is burning. Blaine kisses Kurt's neck and he turns his head to the side so that Blaine has better access. Blaine trails up a line of open mouthed kisses up Kurt's neck till he reaches his ear and places a kiss directly at the spot behind it. It seems to be a very sensitive spot for Kurt because he takes in a sharp breath and grabs Blaine around his waist to flip them over. Kurt lays now on top of Blaine and suddenly everything is... wet. Wait, wet?!
Blaine opens his eyes in confusion. They rolled from beneath the sunshade onto the sand and now that nothing is covering them anymore the rain is dripping unhindered down on them. Kurt has stopped kissing him and looks up to the sky too.
"It's raining! I can't believe we haven't noticed." Kurt laughs and rolls next to Blaine.
For a moment both are lying in the wet grass side by side letting the rain cool them down and catch their breaths. Blaine searches for Kurt's hand and takes it in his. Kurt turns towards him and smiles affectionately.
"Kurt, that was just amazing, just...wow. I think my heartbeat will never become normal again."
Kurt kisses his knuckles and lays his head on Blaine's chest right over his heart.
"I don't want to cause a heartattack but I hope that I will always make your heart speed up 'cause you make mine, too."
And right in this moment he feels entirely happy and also like his heart would explode any second, gosh it must really have a serious problem.
Kurt shiftes above him and sits up.
"I think we should pack together and go inside I'm soaking wet."
Kurt puts the sunshade and the bucket back into the tool sheed while Blaine is packing the food back into the basket. Each of them takes their pair of shoes and they walk barefoot and hand in hand to the house.
"Damn, I think my parents are already at home, the lights in the living room are on."
Blaine looks nervously towards the glass door and spots Kurt's parents on the sofa.
"Why am I always meeting your parents in akward situations." Blaine sighs resignedly and tries to fix his hair.
"Don't worry and you look fine. I'm sure they'll love you."
They enter the living room and Kurt greets them. "You're already back. Did everything go well at the shop?"
"Yes, honey and we found a nice place for your beautiful banner. I'm sure the customers will storm the shop tomorrow", Carole answers.
Burt stands up from the sofa and walks up to them. He eyes Blaine suspisiously.
"Hello Blaine."
"Good evening Mister Hummel", Blaine answers shyly.
"So did you two have a nice afternoon?"
"Um", Blaine clears his throat ,"yes, thank you."
"Oh dad, please don't scare him with your big daddy looks." Kurt says.
Carole giggles in the background.
Burt grunts and mumbles:" Isn't a father allowed to check his sons guest..."
"Blaine do you maybe want to stay for dinner?", Carole offers nicely.
"I really don't want to be a bother."
"You're not at all, please stay.", she interrupts Blaine and takes the basket he is still holding to put it into the kitchen.
"Then I'd be glad to, thank you", Blaine answers politely.
"But we really should change clothes first those are so wet they feel lika a second skin", Kurt says and pulls Blaine upstairs to his room.
"Blaine can change in Finns room, he's still out", Burt calls after them but Kurt pretends not to hear him and leads Blaine to his room.
"Please don't take him seriously, my dad is a little bit strange when he sees me with boys. He's just very protective but trust me he's one of the good guys." Kurt says as they are walking upstairs to his room. They step inside and Kurt walks towards his huge warderobe and opens it to find some dry clothes. Blaine stands a little bit lost in the middle of the room and looks curiously around. It is very neat and everything in Kurt's room fits perfectly together. All the colours match and it was nicely decorated. Everywhere hang photos or collages but it wasn't overloaded and everything has it's place. And Blaine smils as he spots a cute stuffed puppy that sits between two big pillows on Kurt's bed.
Kurt seems to have found what he was looking for and he turns around to Blaine with two piles of clothes.
"I'm sure you want to change, too." He hands Blaine a pair of plain black pants and a white t-shirt. Blaine takes them and for a moment they look sheepishly at eachother. Kurt blushes and starts:"um, maybe..."
"How about if we both turn around? I promise I won't look." Blaine helps him. "Or I can go into the bathroom of course if you're uncomfortable", he adds quickly.
Kurt blush deepens and he says:" Turning around is fine with me."
They look at eachother for a second and turn then around. The next minutes are an akward silence only interrupted with the rustling of their clothes.
"Okay I'm ready can I turn around?", Blaine asks.
"Just a second, I think I'm wearing more layers than you", Kurt answers.
Blaine eyes himself in the mirror that stands across from him. His hair is still a mess and he runs his fingers through it to fix it. The pants Kurt gave him are slightly too long for him so he reaches down to roll them up to his ankles. As he straightens up his gaze is caught by Kurt's slim waist that is reflected in the mirror. He can't help it and lets his eyes wander further upwards to Kurt's strong shoulders that move slightly as he strips off his undershirt. Blaine gulps noisily at the sight of Kurt's exposed pale skin but he has to fastly tear his gaze away because Kurt has noticed his gulping sound and turned his head. Blaine fastly straightens up and stands stiff as a statue. Kurt puts on his shirt and approaches to Blaine from behind.
"Didn't you promise?", he says in a teasing voice.
"It wasn't on purpose I swear! I was looking in the mirror and then I just couldn't tear my eyes away from your beautiful skin", Blaine defends himself helplessly.
Kurt kisses his neck from behind and places his arms around his waist. "You're lucky that you're looking so hot in my clothes because I really shouldn't forgive you."
Blaine spins around in Kurt's arms and hugs him tightly. "Thank you."
"Boys, the dinner is ready!", Carole calls from the kitchen.
"I have to admit that I'm nervous like crazy", Blaine says as they're walking down the stairs.
"You have nothing to worry about. I only pick a special person to be my boyfriend just be yourself and they'll love you." Kurt strokes reassuringly over Blaine's back. "Or you just give them one of your adorable prince charming smiles and they'll swoon", he whispers jokingly before they enter the kitchen. The dinner smells delicious and Kurt holds out the chair for him to take place. He sits down across from Burt and Kurt sits down next to him. Kurt's stepbrother still isn't at home and so it's just the four of them. Carole serves the meal and they start to eat. They talk about casual things like school and Blaine's family. Blaine compliments Carole about the wonderful dinner and even Burt seems to like him. Blaine feels more and more comfortable and as the topic shifts to football the ice between Burt and him seems definitely broken as they talk enthusiastically talk about the latest game. All the time Kurt's warm hand is resting on Blaine's knee and Blaine slips his hand in Kurt's. Kurt strokes absentmindedly his thumb over Blaine's hand and enjoys that his family and his boyfriend get on well.
Carole attempts to get up to clear the table but Blaine jumps up and insists on taking care of the dishes. Carole appreciates his politeness but follows him anyway into the kitchen to get the dessert. As all of them sit at the table again and enjoy their cupcakes (Kurt made tons of them this morning) the door rings suddenly. Carole gets up to open it.
"Oh, it's another handsome boy from next door", she says and returns with Cooper into the dining room. As Blaine spots him he tenses up in his chair.
"Good evening everybody. I'm sorry to interrupt your dinner but my mom send me to look for my brother and bring him home."
His gaze rests on the cupcakes and he nearly drools on the table cloth at their sight. "But now that I see he hasn't finished dinner yet..."
"Maybe you want to join us for the dessert? I'm sure the one Anderson brother is as a pleasant company as the other ", Carole offers and smiles as she follows Cooper's hungry gaze.
"Really? I'd love to!", and he sits down next to Blaine and takes a cupcake.
Blaine nearly has a nervous breakdown and hurries to eat his dessert. The evening worked out so well and he wouldn't let his brother ruin his good impression with Kurt's parents. So as everybody has finished he prevents his brother from licking the crumbs off his plate and pulls him to the front door.
"Thank you for the dinner it was wonderful", he thanks Kurt's parents.
"Thank you especially for the cupcakes, you won my heart with them", Cooper says and kisses Carole's hand.
"Actually Kurt made them", she says.
And Coopers reaches out to kiss Kurt's hand but Blaine shoves his waving brother annoyed into the front garden and turns back to Kurt. He takes his hands "Thank you for our day on the beach, I really enjoyed it." He glances unsure to Kurt's parents. Carole smiles warmly and goes inside and Burt rolls his eyes but nods reassuringly.
Blaine leans in and closes his eyes to give Kurt a soft goodnight kiss. He lingers for a moment on his lips before he breaks away with a little smack, Cooper rooting for them in the background.
"See you in school tomorrow", Kurt says and gives him loving look. Blaine turns away to go home as Burt lays a hand on his shoulder to stop him.
"Do you mind if I accompany you a short way?"
Kurt looks questioningly at his father but he waves him inside. "I got something to discuss with Blaine alone, Kurt."
Cooper gets the hint too and heads home alone. Burt and a nervous Blaine are left alone in the front garden.
"First of all don't be so nervous all the time", Burt says and claps him on the back," I may sometimes try to scare my sons boyfriends but actually I'm a nice guy." He stops,"Wait you two are boyfriends, right?", he asks confused.
"Yes, Kurt and I are boyfriends, Sir", Blaine answers proudly.
Burt nods. "See that's the problem I can't keep up with my sons pace, it feels like yesterday that I teached him how to ride a bike and now I'm not sure I can teach him all the things he needs to know", Burt sighs. "Listen Blaine, you seem like a nice boy and as long as you treat my son with all the respect he deserves we will get along with each other very well. So please stop calling me Sir, I'm Burt." He gives him a short hug and as he claps him on the back he whispers:" Just keep in mind for next time, make out sessions on the beach are finable in the US let alone some countries in europe where you can even go in prison for that, so don't get caught. Maybe I should establish that rule ,too...", he mumbles to himself and with that he goes back into the house, he needs to seek out some pamphelets and leaves a very red-faced Blaine behind in the front yard.
