Kurt sighed as he reclined back in the couch, flipping through the boring programs on the television. It was a Friday evening, and here Kurt was, sitting on his couch, preparing to watch Doctor Who. Though Kurt would rather die than admit out-loud to watching the science/action BBC show, he was content right now. On the other hand, it hand been 3 days since he'd even spoken to Blaine, and he was going slightly insane. His whole life had become centered around his boyfriend, and suddenly when he was out of the picture, Kurt felt confused and lost. He was on a 2 week break from College for some summer holiday thing, so he couldn't even work on an assigment. In short, Kurt Hummel was bored.
Extremely bored. He scrolled through his contact list, looking for someone who would be interesting to text. Blaine was out for the day with Cooper, shopping apparently, and Kurt had no desire to bother him, he knew that Cooper was extremely important in his life, and to be honest, Kurt actually really liked Cooper. Kurt was sure that everyone liked Cooper, I mean.. who couldn't love a McDreamy look-alike?
When he reached the "S" tab in the list, he noticed there were only about4.names there. Santana, Sebastian, a girl from his script writing class, Sarah, and a Glee- high school show choir club, friend, Sugar. He was sure that Sugar was off in some European country, prancing around with her father, selling their new candyline. And even her husband, other former Glee club member Artie Abrams. With a name like Sugar, candy is the easiest thing to sell. Their business was booming, and Kurt would admit that the candy was actually fairly good. "Taste of Sugar" was sparking all around the World, and knowing a famous candy distributor might come in handy while looking for a place in stardom. Maybe.
He hadn't spoken to Santana for quite a long time, so he tapped the Sebastian contact gently and sent a quick Hello.
Kurt was gazing with tear-filled eyes as the ninth Doctor and Rose shared a goodbye right before he shipped her off in the TARDIS when Sebastian texted back. Kurt was about to freak out at the thought of social communication, he'd been staring at Doctor Who for a good thirty minutes, rarely even blinking. After all, who blinks when they watch such a great show?
"Hey Kurt, what's up? :)" -Sebastian Smythe 7:21PM
Kurt smiled as he texted back, "Nothing, just sitting around. How about you?" -Kurt Hummel 7:21PM
He snuggled up tighter in his fleece blanket on the couch, anxiously awaiting another text. Even though Kurt had Blaine, he felt like a teenager again, waiting for texts from his friends.
"Pretty much the same.. are you back in the city?" -Sebastian Smythe 7:23PM
Kurt replied quickly, tapping the pads of his fingers against his touch screen. "I am, just got in last night." -Kurt Hummel 7:24PM
Sebastian texted back almost instantly. "How about that night out? Are you free?" -Sebastian Smythe 7:24PM
Kurt hesitated on his answer. He was fairly bored, even though Doctor Who was one of his favorite shows. But Kurt rarely passed on the offer to make a new friend, he learned that throughout high school. People only come around once in a while, and it's important to latch onto them while you can. On the other hand, he knew that Sebastian was gay and had a..thing for flirting. He wasn't sure if he should ask Blaine if it was okay or not. If Blaine said no, though..he might suspect that Kurt would go behind his back. Kurt decided against it, and shot back a quick, "Yes, I'm free, what time and where?" hoping that he didn't sound to anxious. Kurt also silently prayed, which he never does, that Sebastian understood it was a strict "friend" rated activity. But hey, Kurt Hummel could have a fun-filled night for once.
I suggest listening to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uqLGuRX_nLM as you read the club scene. It really enhances the experience. Makes you feel like you're there c:
Sebastian came rather close to Kurt's soft, pale ear, whispering, "Would you like me to get you a drink?" while still dancing to the loud, upbeat music.
"Yeah." Kurt breathed back, slowly easing into the feel of Sebastian rubbing his shoulder before he departed. The night had been lovely so far, they were currently crowded on a heated dancefloor, packed with a large group of people, laser lights and dubstep.
Sliding into the bright red booth they snagged earlier, Kurt glanced at his cell phone. Blaine hadn't texted him all night. He sighed, trying to ignore Blaine just for now. So instead, he analyzed the exciting club itself. "Snix's" was bursting with energy, people young and slightly older were flooding the dancefloor, the bar, and simply just having a great time. The laser lights flashed around on the dark painted walls to create a new generation of scenery, a colorful, painted glow. That was one thing Kurt soon found that he adored, the lights. They radiated throughout the entire upper level, bright yet not too overwhelming. Snix's, the name of the club, was apparently a huge hotspot in night-clubbing near Times Square. It was clearly packed, and this was just the first floor. The two haven't yet felt the need to go downstairs, apparently there were 3 other floors similar to this. The surroundings actually seemed fairly classy though, one of Kurt's simple requirements. Even the bathrooms were exquisite, which is a hard piece of design to find in public these days. The decor was certainly beautiful for a nightclub, it was elegant yet very party-animal like. Luckily, the price wasn't too heavy, a $40 dollar entry fee wasn't too bad. Kurt didn't want to feel too guilty about making Sebastian pay, though he offered. He also offered to take the tab for dinner earlier.. and for the drinks now, and Kurt knew that club drinks were expensive. It kind of felt like luxury, clearly Sebastian was loaded. But that didn't matter. Kurt huffed in his head at his airheaded-ness. So Kurt instead chose to relax, to drown in the atmosphere and enjoy his night out. It was a break from the hasty and chaotic "vacation" back home, and to enjoy his college break. Soon enough he'd be back in class, listening to his boring-ass teacher drone on about the importance of detail and apostrophes, two completely different things. The pounding music was slightly irritating, though. A different sweep from broadway and Katy Perry, for sure.
The music wasn't exactly Kurt's taste, but it was great to dance to. The DJ seemed to be the life of the party, entertaining the large crowd that was bustling with erotic and exciting dance moves. Kurt eyed the lean man, headbanging to the loud, energized bassdrops. You could barely see his eyes, though you could tell he had fake contacts placed in his eyeballs, his irises were an almost grayish blue color. It was actually really cool though, his entire outfit was completely hipster and less fashion-style. Kurt even dressed down a bit sometimes, sporting skinny jeans and converse. But rarely in public, of course. Deisgner was the goal. Anyway, back to the DJ who was controlling the airwaves in the club. The large headphones were placed over his ears, probably drowning out the entire hoots and whistles from the crowd while mixing up new tunes at the same time. Kurt figured it must be a fun job, for someone who had a passion for music, and probably would pay well. That just wasn't Kurt's scene, though he did have to start thinking about jobs pretty soon.
Thankfully, this club looked like they had a complete tolerance for homosexuality. Thank God. Kurt had been desiring an escape from homophobes his entire life, and he is extremely glad that New York City is that refuge. In fact, there were same-sex couples placed throughout the dancefloor, the bar, and even in some of the booths. Kurt imagined that there were even more in the lower levels of the club.
But this wasn't a date. So, Kurt didn't even have to worry about people hating on him for being gay.
This was just a casual night out with a friend, right?
Of course it was. Kurt Hummel was more than honest, true and absolutely in love with Blaine Anderson. And if Kurt was one thing, he was faithful. Always.
Soon enough, Sebastian was back from the bar, sporting a beer clutched in his right hand, a pink drink resting in his other.
"Mm, what's this?" Kurt hummed appreciatively, immediately tasting the enhanced fruity taste with a slight burn of alcohol drowning in the back of his throat.
"Some new strawberry thing!" Sebastian shouted happily as a he took a swig of his Budlight, smiling at Kurt as he talked.
"It's delicious!" Kurt almost moaned over his straw that bounced contently between his lips as he drank up the wonderful liquid.
"I'd certainly hope so." Sebastian smiled as he placed his beer bottle on the table, and rested his head in his hand while staring affectionately at Kurt Hummel. "Are you waiting for a call or something? You keep glancing at your phone..and as far as I know, that's a bad sign in dating 101."
"Oh, no. It's just that I've been waiting for Blaine to text me back, he hasn't all day.." Kurt's face fell as he made eye contact with Sebastian.
Sebastian nodded in understanding, then smiled at Kurt once more. "I'm going to get some more drinks, is that alright?" He asked.
"Of course!" Kurt shouted over the loud hum of the bass in the background, a new song must've started.
Sebastian didn't give a flying fuck about Blake, or Blaine or whatever the Hell that guy's name was. Tonight, Kurt was his. After weeks of busting that beautiful ass he finally got a date. Even if it wasn't a date for Kurt. Which meant that Mission Not-So-Impossible began. Sebastian smiled to himself as he waited for the bartender to finish everyone else's drink as he marveled his absolute cleverness over his plan. Step 1. Get Kurt Hummel out of the house, alone. Complete. Step 2. Get him drunk off of his ass, maybe slip a little something in his drink to get him all fired up. In progress. Step 3? Seduce Kurt as best as he could, and have extremely rough sex in Kurt's apartment. Going to happen soon enough. Final Step, wait for the boyfriend to return. Because if there was anything Sebastian could do, it was break-up a happy couple. And Sebastian Smythe always got what he wanted, and right now he wanted to pound Porcelain's ass. He didn't give a flying fuck about a relationship, he just wanted sex. And after Kurt would be devestated by the break-up, he would come flying back to Seb for comfort. And that comfort, would not be G rated. Oh, yes. This was going to be a great evening for one Sebastian Smythe.
Blaine smiled happily as he walked through the streets of town with his older brother. The relaxing Summer air swept through the small town of Westerville. Tomorrow he'd be flying home to be with his love. But Blaine had one final task here before he could even depart. And that one special thing to purchase was lying behind a glass counter, on display for the whole town to see. And it was Blaine Anderson's.
"Blaine, exactly where are we going?" Cooper questioned, breathing heavily as Blaine sped up. "And why are we rushing? There's no need to rush!"
"I'm excited, sorry. And I can't tell you, you'll freak out." Blaine smiled, and his smile grew to unthinkable levels when he glanced up at the large sign planted on the store roof. "Diamond Jewelers: For your loved ones." was encased in large font and sparkly design.
"You've got to be kidding me." Cooper sighed, before quickly following Blaine on his tail. "You're like a 5 year old kid going to the carnival for the first time. You're a grown man now, Blaine. Calm yourself."
"Yeah, yeah. I know. It's just..I'm." Blaine inhaled sharply, looking up at his older brother who was also slightly taller. He made eye contact and Cooper noticed his eyes were almost filled with tears. "I want to propose to Kurt."
"WHAT!?" Cooper shouted, confused but so excited at the same time.
Blaine put his hands on Cooper's shoulders, relaxing him. "I know. I've put a lot of thought into it. And tomorrow night is our 6 month anniversary, and I really want to do this. I've never been so sure of anything in my entire life, Coop. We love each other so much, Coop.. He means the world to me. And if you want to think I'm being completely irrational, then go ahead. But it would mean even more to me if you could help me double check this gorgeous ring I've wanted to place on his perfect hand since our first date. And on top of that, if you could help me rehearse the proposal song, I'd love you forever. So, please just be on my side and maybe even..be my best man?" Blaine pleaded, almost in complete tears at this point.
Cooper glanced down at his brother, a smile stretching across his face. He'd never been so happy and proud for him at the same time. "I'd love too, squirt. It'd be an honor. We have to make Kurt stumble on his feet, after all."
"Thank you so much." Blaine smiled so wide, Cooper thought his face was going to crack. They hugged tightly real quickly, then he let Blaine show him over to the ring.
Blaine talked to the shopkeeper and asked to glance at the band that rested quietly and so beautifully in it's case. He eyed it carefully, and finally decided that it was the one. "I've been staring at this ever since I came here with you to get Lilly's ring."
"You must have good tastes then, because she loved the one we both picked out." Cooper smiled, and gave Blaine a pat on his back. "It's perfect. Kurt will love it, I know he will. I'm so proud of you Blaine, I really am. Hell, I'm so happy for you!"
"Thanks.. This one please?" Blaine asked the seller, then when he asked about engravings, Blaine told him exactly what he wanted.
When the price was finally determined, it fell around $1200. Blaine nodded, then handed over his credit card. He knew what he wanted. This is what he's desired in his life for an eternity, and it would be worth any price.
After signing a few papers, he and Cooper headed out of the store. It was around 9:30 now, but Blaine was starving. He reached into his pocket and set a quick "I love you" to Kurt, feeling the love already flood through his veins. Holding the plastic jewelers bag in hand, he suddenly felt a flush of warmth spreading over his heart. He was going to be engaged. To Kurt. To the most beautiful, caring, perfect person in the entire Universe. If Kurt said yes.
IF he said yes.
"Oh my god, Coop, what if he says no?!" Blaine paused in the middle of the street, immediately panicking. He felt his knees about to wobble at the thought, almost ready to faint. The thought of being rejected by the love of his life was more pain than Blaine could handle.
"Oh, stop you idiot. He's going to say yes, and positively freak out and call all of his friends and do that fancy fiance stuff. Now move out of the road before you get run over!" Cooper shouted, pushing Blaine by the shoulders out onto the sidewalk.
"He's going to say no, and then..Then I'm going to be alone forever and I'll probably go insane and end up like one of those crazy cat ladies with no friends and no lover and nothing, Coop I'm going to be a lunatic, just because my boyfriend said no to marrying m-" Blaine was interupted by the tight hands on his shoulder shaking him incredibly hard.
"Stop! He's going to say yes, don't act like you don't know that! But one thing you really need to do is talk to Burt. You can't just propose to his kid without getting permission. That's like, treason." Cooper pointed out as he opened the door to the small cafe they used to go to when they were in Dalton, immediately taking a seat in the corner.
Blaine flushed a bright red color. "Well, I already kind of did. I'm a gentleman, Cooper, gosh. He..surprisingly, he said yes. He was really..happy at the thought. Like, ridiculously excited. Kind of like you." Blaine smiled, rattling his order off to the waitress who stopped by.
"What about mom and dad?" Cooper questioned, gazing out the window at the night sky, glaring at the beautiful stars streaming in space.
Blaine swallowed heavily, aiming his head down in shame. "I talked about it with them, yes. Mom was...okay with it actually. I think she really likes Kurt. And dad, he well. He didn't really reject the idea. He just shook my hand and told me he was happy for me. So to be honest, I can't really be sure he's going to even show up at the wedding." Blaine sighed, crossing his legs under the table as he raised his head back up.
"So you already started planning, huh?" Cooper asked, laughing a little as a smirk was etched into his face.
"Yeah. I know what Kurt likes, and this is really..all about him. I don't have a preference on everything, but he does. It's going to be his- our, dream wedding. It all kind of randomly popped up during a conversation once." Blaine smiled, taking the cup of coffee in hand as the waitress placed it onto the table.
"I can't wait to see it, but you better let me help with the invitations. You know I love a good greeting." Cooper took a long sip of his coffee, smiling across the tiny table at his brother. Cooper decided right then, that he wasn't "Squirt" anymore. He officially earned the title of Blaine. Blaine Anderson was a man now.
"What is your last name going to be?" Cooper asked, suddenly intrigued by the thought.
"Now that.. is a good question." Blaine sighed, leaning back against the warm, wooden chair underneath him.
