The next time Kurt and Blaine met, it was not coincidental. Nor was it forced by the sometimes helpful hands of fate. This time around, Blaine called Kurt out of sheer boredom and curiousity as if he was truly serious about being friends-or whatever they were. Kurt blatantly asked him out to dinner with him on Friday evening. Luckily, both Kurt and Blaine were avaliable, freed from the hectic situations that were their lives. Ultimately, Blaine was shocked at the request, and even more stunned that Kurt truly wanted to talk to him. Like a real person, not some random fan from the streets asking for a few questions, not like an interviewer.
But simply two strangers trying to pursue a friendship, getting to know each other slowly from something that had brought them together in the past. Blaine hadn't experienced that in years: someone trying to navigate their way into his life. It frightened him in the back of his mind, but enthralled him at exactly the same time. Deep down in his winding, labryinth like tunnel of thoughts Blaine knew that Kurt just wanted to discuss his handwritten letter that Blaine had addressed to him on the tour. Basically, to make sure that Blaine still wasn't suicidal, probably just so Kurt wouldn't have that guilty conscious or current reminder of him via the letter. And if Blaine would have commited suicide, he's sure that Kurt would get around knowing. He had around 4k+ followers on tumblr and twitter, all hardcore Hummel fans. He would know. But anyway, Blaine was out of his dark past, venturing onto a new chapter of his life that would surely be more relaxing and enjoyable, or hopefully that way. Blaine had no desire to tiptoe down memory lane so soon, but Kurt deserved to know everything after his heartwrenching letter. So, Blaine decided, that he would tell Kurt the dangerous and agonizing truth of his old life. Maybe Kurt would even mention secrets from his own past, and let him past Kurt's tight memory gate that was locked away from the public. Anyone with an internet connection, or even a newspaper, could dig up information on Kurt's histoy, especially his horrifying high school experience that built him up into the person he was today. However, many tidbits of his life were quiet, virgin facts that were rarely came to light because they were hidden from the outside world.
If and when they made that special connection, realizing just how similar they really were,(Blaine had learned that forever ago,) they would be able to have a bond that Kurt and Blaine would never share with anyone else. They would understand each other in a whole new way of thinking, a new dimension of chemistry and similarities.
Hopefully, the odds of this situation were sitting in his favor.
"Do you want to eat here?" Kurt asked from beneath his sunglasses, though the sun was barely shining at 5PM in a city surrounded by skyscrapers, as they approached a tiny cafe.
"Hmm, here? Sure, I guess." Blaine answered, gazing up at the sign on the cafe's roof that read 'A Little Taste of Heaven.' The name made Blaine smile in appreciation.
"Table for two, please." Kurt told the hostess, who stood smiling happily from behind her podium.
"Sure," She said, picking up two menus. "Follow me, please." She started to walk toward the back of the cafe, which was scattered with groups of various people. "Here you are!" She dropped their two menus in front of them and disappeared back toward her post.
"Sort of fancy for a tiny cafe, isn't it?" Kurt looked around, analyzing the decor and rich atmosphere.
"Well, this is New York." Blaine laughed, resting his chin on his palm.
"True that..." Kurt murmured as he picked up his menu, staring at the options in the tiny print. "I think I may just have a salad, I have to watch my diet." He complained.
"Oh? Why's that?" Blaine questioned, deciding to order a soup instead.
"This new movie I'm supposed to be in. We don't even start filming for another month though." He droned in, waving it away as if it was nothing. Kurt lowered his voice, tilting his head closer to Blaine. "Keep it under wraps until then, eh?"
"Of course." Blaine promised, nudging his foot with Kurt's under the table. He didn't mean to be so flirty with that movie, sort of just a jokingly gesture. However, both boys flashed a bright shade of red. After all, they were both only 19. "So, Kurt. What's the real reason you invited me here?" He asked, biting his lip in worry.
Kurt blinked in surprise, sitting slightly aback at the comment. "What do you mean?" He looked offended.
"I mean, y-you said last time we talked that you would tell me why my um, letter, touched you or something?" He swallowed a sip of his water, nervously refusing to make eyecontact.
"Oh," Kurt breathed out, smiling at the memory. "Blaine, that's not the only reason why I invited you here."
"W-what? Really?" He stared now, shocked at Kurt's declaration.
They were interupted by a waitress, Mary, coming over to take their small order. After they both put in their choices, she gracefully took their menus and walked back towards the kitchen.
Kurt nodded, placing his napkin across his kneecaps underneath the tablecloth. "I like you, Blaine...Something about you makes me want to speak to you." He shaked his head back and forth gently, laughing ruefully.
"I-I, I-How?" He stammered, sweat beading on his upper lip, confused.
"That's a question I'm afraid you'll have to ask to the complex systems of science." Kurt remarked, winking at Blaine in a jokingly manner.
