Blaine woke up and took in his surroundings. For once, he was the first person awake. The sun was just beginning to peek through the tree tops of the jungle, indicating that it was around 6am. Blaine got up and starting cooking breakfast, knowing that the others would be up soon. Last night had been difficult, and he had no doubts that it would get worse soon. The sound of Kurt's voice had been floating around in his dreams, whispering random things to make Blaine smile.
"Look who's the first up for once!"
Blaine turned away from the fire to look at Russell, who had just gotten up.
"I didn't sleep too well last night" Blaine explained.
Russell sat beside him, and they made breakfast together in a comfortable silence. Soon enough, everyone joined them and they ate their rice and beans, discussing who they thought would be up for the trial that day.
"The public are voting, right?" Blaine asked, still slightly confused as to how the show worked.
"Yeh, that's right. Then, after some more days, they start getting the public to vote people out" Matt explained. Blaine nodded in understanding.
They packed up their camp, and headed off to Croc Creek. It took them a while to find their way through the jungle, but they got there eventually.
"Oh, I think they're here! Hi, Blaine!" Jo walked up to him, giving him a quick hug and a peck on the cheek.
"Hey Jo" Blaine smiled. "This is Russell Howard, Matt Smith, Lacey Turner and Fearne Cotten" Blaine introduced them, pointing to each celeb as he said their names.
Jo gave them all the same greeting as she did for Blaine, and introduced everyone at Croc Creek.
"You already know Kelly, this is Joe Gilgun, Dynamo, and Matthew Horne"
Everyone hugged and exchanged stories from their own camps. Everything was going so smoothly, that they'd forgotten about the Bushtucker Trial that would be going ahead later that day.
Ant and Dec came into Croc Creek, holding the card that told them who would be facing the trial. They wasted no time and started right away.
"Over the last couple of days, the public have been voting for who they want to face today's Bushtucker Trial. Fearne. It's not you. Jo. It's not you. Matt. It might be you. Russell. It's not you. Kelly. It's not you. Lacey. It's not you. Blaine. It's not you. Joe. It's not you. Matthew. It's not you. Which means, Dynamo, it might be you. The public have decided that the person that they want to face today's Bushtucker Trial is. Matt"
Blaine patted Matt on the back.
"Good luck man. You're going to need it"
"Matt, if you could make your way to the Bushtucker Trial area as soon as you're ready. We'll see you soon" With that, they left, leaving everyone to help Matt get ready.
Soon enough, he was off to the trial area, and everyone was mingling again. Dynamo came up to Blaine, and looked at him oddly.
"So, you're Blaine Anderson?" he asked, eyeing him slightly.
"Yes..." Blaine trailed off, the way this guy was looking at him scaring him a little.
"You strong Blaine?" he asked.
"I'M ENGAGED TO ANOTHER MAN WHO I LOVE VERY MUCH!" Blaine yelled as Dynamo moved closer to him. Everyone stopped what they were doing and stared at him.
"Blaine, what are you on about? It's a magic trick...I'm a magician" Dynamo said, taking a step back.
"Oh..oh. I'm so sorry! Carry on, sorry" Blaine rushed.
"It's okay man" Dynamo laughed. "So, are you strong?"
"I guess I'm sort of strong. I do boxing, so yeh, probably"
"Okay, pick me up"
Blaine rested his hands on Dynamo's hips and lifted him up with ease. Woah this guy was light! He placed him back on his feet, and waited for the next instruction.
"Now, put your hands on me like you're going to pick me up, but don't actually pick me up, and look me in the eyes"
Blaine put his hands on Dynamo's hips and looked into his eyes. He didn't know what he was expecting to happen, but nothing was.
"Now, pick me up again"
Blaine tried to pick Dynamo up, but couldn't. He tried again, but he physically couldn't.
"What the fuck?!" Blaine yelled, his hands flying off Dynamo. "Dude, how did you do that?!"
"Magic, man" Dynamo laughed, before wandering off, leaving Blaine bewildered.
Matt came back from the trial, and explained the horrors he had to face. They all laughed and teased Matt about how scared he sounded, and cheered when he told them that he came back with all 10 stars, which 11111111meant 10 meals for camp.
A letter came down, and Joe grabbed it.
"Blaine, it's for you" he passed the letter to Blaine, who took it, his hands shaking.
Is it from Kurt? That's not his handwriting on the envelope....but he may have written the letter and not the envelope...
Blaine decided to open the letter in private, so he ran off to the den and ripped it open. His heart dropped. Not from Kurt. It was from the makers of the show.
"Blaine. You have been chosen to become camp meddler. Please follow the directions to where you shall recieve further directions" below it, were directions to a place called "Meddling Pitstop".
He waited until everyone was asleep, after a rather disgusting dinner of the hind legs of a hare, to find Meddling Pitstop. It took him a long time, and he got lost a fair bit, but eventually he got there. As soon as he arrived, a phone rang. Blaine fumbled around in the dark, but found the phone.
"Hello?"
"Hello, Blaine?" an Australian voice came back.
"Yeh"
"You've been chosen to become camp meddler. Over the next few days, you will perform various meddling challenges. If you complete all of these tasks, you will bring to camp care packages for everyone. These care packages include letters from home and other various things, all from your loved ones. Do you think you can do it Blaine?"
Blaine's eyes filled with tears. Letters from home. Loved ones. Kurt.
"Yeh, yeh, I can do it"
"Great. Your first meddling challenge is to wake everyone up by singing Not Alone from your recent album "Teenage Dream", and get them all to sing along as well. Good luck Blaine"
The phone hung up, and Blaine stood there, confused.
What?! That's not much of a meddling challenge....it should be easy as well...
He walked back to camp, and sat in front of the fire. Here goes nothing...
"I've been alone, surrounded by darkness, and I've seen how heartless, the world, can be" Blaine sang loudly.
"Blaine! Shut up dude, we're trying to sleep!" Russell yelled.
"Come on, join in guys! I've seen you crying, you felt like it's hopeless, I'll always do my best, to make, you see"
Everyone looked at each other and sighed. The whole world knew this song, it was impossible not to know the lyrics to it. They all got up and joined in.
"Baby you're not alone, cause you're here with me, and nothing's ever gonna bring us down, cause nothing can keep me from loving you, and you know it's true, it don't matter what'll come to be, our love is all we need to make it through!"
By the end of the song, they were all laughing and joking together, and Blaine sang a few more songs from his album.
"You know, I wrote Not Alone back in High School for Kurt, to show him that even though people would try and get us down, we're never alone because we've always got each other"
"That is just too sweet!" Lacey cooed.
They all went to bed, and Blaine hummed Teenage Dream quietly to himself. These people were nice, and didn't mind him going on about Kurt. Kurt. God, he wished he was there in his hammock with him, sleeping in his arms.
"Goodnight baby" Blaine whispered, closing his eyes and falling asleep.
~
Kurt switched off the TV and sat back. Not Alone. That was just perfect. He hoped that Blaine would complete the meddling challenges, the care package he sent, he knew Blaine would love it.
"Goodnight to you too, honey" Kurt said into the empty apartment, before wandering off to bed and sliding into the covers, shuffling slightly into Blaine's side, like he usually did, only this time there were no strong arms to wrap around him and lull him to sleep, no soft singing in his ear. Kurt sighed. He'd just have to get used to this over the next few weeks. He missed Blaine more than anything.
