"Mommy!" Kurt yelled, hugging her leg. She smiled at the two boys.
"Hi boys! How was your day?" She asked the two of them as they walked towards her car.
"Good, Mrs. Hummel." Blaine replied, Liz smiled, buckling the boys into their seats. Blaine was always very kind. Lucinda had taught him well. She drove over to the restaurant, the two boys talking animatedly in the backseat. She took the two boys into the back of the restaurant dropping Kurt's overnight bag in the break room by Lucinda's things.
"Have fun, boys, okay?" They nodded. Liz hugged her son, kissing his forehead. "Have a great time at Blaine's, okay honey? Remember your manners when you're there. I love you." Kurt smiled widely at his mom.
"I will, I love you too, mommy." He hugged the woman again. Blaine giving her a hug as well before she left. A hostess walked into the break room and saw the two boys with a smile, she stuck her head into the kitchen for a moment.
"Hey Lucy, Blaine and Kurt are here." As soon as those words were out of her mouth, Lucinda dropped the oven mits she was putting on, instead deciding to go to the break room and see the boys.
"Hey you two, how was preschool?" She asked them, helping them take off their jackets and mittens.
"It is was much fun, mama!" Blaine exclaimed happily, "Mrs. Trudell let us play in the snow for an extra 30 minutes today!" Kurt nodded, he was way too sigh to speak around Blaine's parents, even now being 3-years-old, he just couldn't do it.
"That's awesome, you boys wanna come help me in the kitchen today? I was thinking maybe some lasagna for dinner." Kurt and Blaine eyed each other with huge grins before nodding. They loved Lucinda's lasagna.
After they returned toe the kitchen, Lucinda brought the boys to a large butchers table with high stools for them to sit on. On the table were all the ingredients needed to make the lasagna. Lucinda showed them how to layer the pasta, the sauce, the meat and the cheese properly and then let them each give it a try. That try ended with a lot of giggles from the toddlers and flour in the boy's hair. Lucinda sighed, rolling her eyes, boys will be boys -whether they were 3-year-old, 15-years-old or 90-years-old. She took over from that point and soon the lasagna was in the oven.
"What would you boys like with the lasagna?" Lucinda asked them as she washed their hands and scrubbed their faces. "French fries?" When she didn't get an answer, she looked more closely at the boys, they were talking to each other. She smiled, fries would have to do.
"I really like your mom," Kurt said later that evening when they were back at Blaine's house and watching a movie in Blaine's room. "She's cool."
"I know," was all that Blaine said. Kurt looked over at him with his brow furrowed, but when he saw his best friend he saw the most smug look on his face. Kurt rolled his blue eyes, leaning back on the large fluffy pillows Blaine had on his bed. They focused on the movie now. They were watching Cinderella. When the prince found out it was Cinderella who had been at the ball, Kurt sighed happily.
"I want a prince like that one day." He said aloud to no one in particular. Blaine looked at him.
"Like what?" He asked curiously. Kurt shrugged.
"He did everything to find Cinderella." Blaine nodded.
"Yeah, that's totally awesome." Blaine agreed, a little while later, Lucinda came to tuck the boys in. She silently opened the door to not disturb the movie that was just about to end. But when she opened the door. The two toddlers were laying down on the bed, completely knocked out. Blaine was curled up into a ball on his side, Kurt beside him on his back. As to not wake up the peaceful looking boys, Lucinda quietly walked over to the TV, turning it off before grabbing a quilt from Blaine's closet and draping it over them. She gave them each a kiss to their forehead before walking out, turning off the light. She walked back downstairs, it was far too early to go to sleep. She joined her husband on the couch in the living room.
"Are they in bed?" He asked her, placing a hand on her shoulder. She nodded, dropping her head to his chest.
"Yeah, they're sleeping." She responded.
Nothing much changed through that entire year, every weekday after preschool, the boys would go back to the Hummel residence because Blaine's parents were still working and Liz still babysat him, except for Fridays. They would get dropped off at whichever La Croix restaurant Lucinda was working at that day and eat dinner before going home with her and having a sleepover at the Anderson home. Sometimes the boys would go play in the stables that were in the backyard. Cecelia, who was now seven had gotten a horse for her birthday, she would let them pet her before and after she rode him. She promised to teach them how to ride when they were old enough to learn.
It was the last day of preschool, and they were back at the Anderson house for another sleepover. Their housekeeper, Maria was playing with them, Cecilia and Lucas in the basement while Mrs. Anderson had a business meeting upstairs in the dining room.
"Are you kids excited for summer?" The woman asked them as they raced toy cars across the floor.
"Yes," Cecilia said, dramatically, "I can't wait for the third grade to start." She smiled brightly, "And Blaine and Kurt are gonna be at my school next year! You guys are gonna be in Junior Kindergarten!" She exclaimed happily.
"What's Junior Kindergarten?" Blaine asked. Maria gave the boy a smile.
"It's a place where you go to learn things." She informed him.
"But we learn at preschool." Kurt said, confusedly. Maria chuckled.
"You will learn more." She told them, "But you don't need to worry about that now." She stood up, walking towards the basement kitchen. "How about we make some snacks until your mother's meeting is finished?" All four kids nodded enthusiastically and ran after her.
