1 month later

The first test of a couple didnt go so well.

Kurt and Blaine studied so much to meet their parents expectations that one day Kurt made a rule that they had at least one whole day for each other to enjoy one another's company, since they barely had time to do anything, even going for a walk is limited.

Usually Blaine would walk with him hand in hand around Dalton at lunchtimes but now Blaine was taking extra tutoring during his lunch breaks, and Blaine began to worry when Kurt wasn't eating, and he asked the other guys to watch him who said he still didnt eat much but a salad. Kurt was starting to lose interest in the Warbler's meetings as well which was the only rare time they got to spend together. He only saw Kurt during the morning or night, and sometimes Kurt kept himself busy in the library after his last class because Blaine again had another tutoring class after all his other classes which helped him get all As like his father wanted. He explained to Kurt why he studied so much when one day Kurt snapped at him for giving him little attention, which is when Blaine had to tell him about his father's threat which only Burt knew about.

Blaine had been so worried when he got his first results back and it was an A- for a subject that he had a gut feeling about all week. His father had been unhappy although he hadn't shouted at him or said he couldn't talk to Kurt –Yet, and that ‘yet' was what scared Blaine.

So he studied harder and harder for his other subject to the point of no sleep, and failed to be an attentive boyfriend. One that week's Sunday Kurt came back from his work out in the gym and shut the door.

“Hey,” Kurt greeted and gained a grunt from  Blaine to show he heard.

He heard Kurt drop his gym bag heavily and his head snapped around at the sound, looking at the fury in Kurt's eyes.

“How long is this going to go on for Blaine? We barely even say high anymore. You're my boyfriend and yet you act like a stranger,”

“Kurt…I got a lot to do, please not now,” Blaine argued and his head returned to his essay on accounting (why he chose to do maths, he will never know)

“When Blaine? I've given you a week to get your crap together and you can't even look at me when I'm talking to you!”

His pencil was yanked from his hand and thrown across the room, causing a smudge on his paper due tomorrow “KURT What is wrong with you!” Blaine finally looked at his boyfriend who yelled “What is wrong with me?! ME?” Blaine finally saw the dark circles under his boyfriends eyes and the tears that was falling down his beautiful face.

Kurt closed his eyes as though trying not to get angry. He watched as he took a breath and opened crystal blue eyes back at him, holding back his tears.

He felt awful that he was the one putting the tears there.

Kurt had been amazing and he had been patient, making Blaine coffee to keep him awake, and making him toasty cheese and tomato sandwiches for when he didn't find the time to cook as he scanned his books and he left him in quiet to go study his own stuff in the library and this is how he treated his boyfriend? Guilt was what he felt when he heard what came out of Kurt's shaky sentence “Maybe we should break up,”

“Kurt no…” His voice broke at the thought and he stood up to comfort Kurt but Kurt shook his head keeping him back with his hand.

“This isn't working. It's too much Blaine, obviously were both too stressed out, and that's okay. I just can't keep pretending like I'm happy,”

Kurt's hand reached out to stroke Blaine's cheek who stared back at him trying to register what was happening “I will always be thankful to you, for you gave me my first kiss, you bought me flowers when I never thought that much of myself in the attractive sense and you're still my best friend Blaine, maybe were just not ready for this yet,” and then Kurt left to go to the library since it closed late while exams were on.

The silence was what snapped Blaine back into reality as he realised what just happened. The feeling of Kurt's hand still tingling on his skin.

He had to do something, fast. He thought of a plan, and went to Wes's dorm room. Kurt came back to a empty room and went straight to bed turning off Blaine's light from his desk  table “I'm sorry Blaine,” Kurt whispered to himself as he pulled his covers over him.

“I think you should probably raise this idea for the Warbler council, I see no problem with having a duet partner, particularly if you can have a partner who matches your voice, maybe it's good to try something new,” Wes said as Blaine paced his room.

“Blaine I can see the little elves working in your brain, what's up man? You look like you're going to be sick,” Thad asked who was sitting on David's bed opposite Wes. David was visiting his girlfriend for the night. Wes explained when he asked where he was and that only made the guilt in his stomach worsen. He had called an emergency meeting. Wes, Thad, and Trent had thankfully already been studying together.

Blaine sighed heavily and put his hands over his face “I think I ruined my relationship with Kurt. Guys I know we … I know it might not be appropriate, and I know this is asking a lot but I really want to sing a duet with Kurt. I think he feels unappreciated…”

Wes nodded, and Thad watched him sceptically as Trent frowned.

“I noticed he hasn't really been singing in Warblers practice too, he lips syncs. He's losing his ambition and energy, and when that happens with one of us, we know it's always up to the group to help them rise to their feet,” Wes added who always sat next to Kurt, when Blaine was standing so he would really know. Blaine was astonished that he had missed that out. He knew Kurt was quieter than usual in meetings by not voicing his opinions as much, whereas before he used to look to Kurt for a raised eyebrow in question of the song choice or a smirk to say that was a crazy suggestion, or a nod when he liked the idea, and now he just stared blankly at the floor, his hand supporting his head up as though he wanted to be somewhere else.

“Did you know the New Directions were planning to have Quinn and Sam sing as duet partners at Regionals? I saw one of their members mention it on Instagram. I see no problem why we can't have our opening act with Kurt and Blaine,” Thad added

“And Kurt is an countertenor I can't see why we shouldn't allow him some opportunity to shine, he's a great addition to the Warblers, I think it's okay if you raise your suggestion in the next meeting and we'll make a final decision with the others,” Blaine nodded thankfully.

“Thank you,”

Hopefully it wasn't too late by then.

In the meantime Blaine bought chocolates for Kurt, and apologised for his behaviour.

Kurt still thought they shouldn't get together so soon after their fall out, but they began talking again. It was hard not being able to kiss Kurt when he didn't have the right to do so anymore Blaine realised and wish he had given Kurt as many kisses as he had gotten the opportunity to do so before.

He hadn't given Kurt enough attention. His grades were creeping up to all As so he allowed himself the night off with Kurt. That was his time with his best friend, and he hadn't realised how much he missed spending time with the other boy, even just watching a movie together was enough to make his heart skip a beat, particularly when it was a romance and he caught Kurt staring at him.

It felt like they were starting over again, but he was doing it right this time.

“I missed this,” Kurt whispered as they lay on the floor listening to music like they had done when first Kurt arrived and Blaine wanted to know more about him.

Blaine rolled on his shoulder and looked at Kurt “I missed you. I'm sorry” He said simply. Kurt nodded in understanding. His hand reached over Blaine's and squeezed. “You apologised over and over again, I told you. It's okay, I still think it's too soon, and it's healthy to start of as friends but I missed you too, I'm glad I have my best friend back at least,”

It would have been a perfect time to kiss Kurt. To make up for the past, to move on, to promise him things but instead he smiled sadly and let Kurt's hand go closing his eyes as their music playlist took him to another world. He had to respect Kurt's wishes.

By the next Warblers meeting he was certain it was time.

Kurt almost looked like he didn't belong there, and Blaine knew the other boy  longed to be with his friends at McKinley but there was no way he was letting Kurt get back into danger now that Karofsky was back since they had no physical evidence to show the board what had happened except for Kurt's hospital photos which they claimed could have been self-harm.

So to brighten Kurt up he raised his suggestion of having a duet partner.

Finally Blaine found Kurt's eyes meeting his in surprise

“All right, a vote. Who's in favour of Warbler Blaine's duo lead proposal at Regionals? Wes asked as most of the Warblers raise their hands including Blaine. Blaine watches as Kurt raises his hand and smiles to himself.

He hears Kurt's voice interrupt the council “Can I get my name on that audition list?”

And immediately he knows its time. “No. No auditions. I want to sing the duet…with…with Kurt,”

Kurt's eyes meets Blaine and it's a look of ‘youcan'tbeforreal' .

“Th…that's riduclous. I know we dated Blaine, but that shouldn't give me the privilege alone just to sing with you, there's so many great voices, everyone deserves a shot at that honor,”

Blaine smiles at him as he listens then states “This isn't just about us as a couple Kurt. It's also about you losing your voice. Everyone deserves a chance to feel like they belong. All in favour of Kurt being my duet partner at Regionals?”

Blaine raises his hand, as do Wes, David, Thad, Trent and then most of the others follow suite. Kurt gapes at Blaine from where he sits as Wes's gavel hits the table “Decided,”  Thad nods at Kurt “Congratulations Kurt,”

Blaine found Kurt in the study room after school hours creating some sort of casket singing Blackbird. He stopped to listen to the other boy, his voice sounding so beautiful he hated to interrupt, but eventually he couldn't stand being in the shadows either so Blaine joined in.

Blaine started humming in the background as he sat down and Kurt looked up at him with a small smile as he watched the Warbler settle on the chair next to his. Blaine's eyes looked to the casket he was decorating and then remained on his face as he looked back up. He choked up as he sang with Blaine there smiling at him and looking at him with those gorgeous hazel orbs.

When he finished Blaine shuffled closer as he examined the casket.

“What's that?” Blaine asked surprising Kurt who looked as beautiful as ever, he thought Kurt looked dashing in the Dalton uniform.

“It's a casket I'm decorating for the Warbler's bird. Nobody realised it died, I used to listen to it chirping in the Warblers meeting and last meeting I noticed it collapsed, so after the meeting I decided I'd take care of it,”

Blaine looked at Kurt in astonishment.

“Finish up, I have a song number that I think we should practice. I'm sorry to hear about that bird though. I had no idea there was a bird in that room,” he admitted and Kurt nodded mainly to himself he said “As most of the other Warblers didn't,”

His emotions were getting the better of him lately, he even wondered why he even broke up with Blaine anymore.

“Why did you pick me to sing that song with?” Kurt blurted out. Blaine shuffled closer and put his hand on his

“Kurt, you move me, even just now listening to you sing that song, and I know I've was a lousy boyfriend, but can we please give it another try? Singing this duet with you is an excuse to spend more time with you, and I promise, I won't take advantage of that,”

Blaine watched Kurt's eyes well up and his mouth open in slight shock, and his cheek pinked up a little which meant Blaine had said the right thing.

When Kurt laced their fingers together, he leaned in and watched to make sure Kurt wasn't shying away before pressing their lips together in a long passionate kiss.

“So can we be boyfriends again?” Blaine asked hesitantly as Kurt parted letting his hand go of Blaine's cheek. He laughed and nodded “Of course silly, I never said goodbye to you,”

3rd Month Anniversary

“I still can't believe your father let us still room together, even after he saw us kissing on Instagram,”

“Can we not talk about my father when we are making out?”  Kurt groaned as Blaine grinded against him while he had been kissing causing both boys to moan. Kurt had really nice lips.

Blaine did as he wished and instead found his lips sucking Kurt's neck. He also had a really nice neck.

“Shit Blaine…”

Blaine kissed his cheek then, then his eyebrows and then every part of his face he could reach which made Kurt laugh.

He had a nice everything.

 “Stop it,” Kurt said with an amused tone.

“Make me,” Blaine growled, his eyes dark with lust, pinning Kurt down on the bed with both his arms which made Kurt do the only thing he could think of.

He started to attack Blaine's clothes, undoing his buttons while kissing his mouth urgently.

He had thought Kurt would just kiss him.

“Kurt…we should study, our final exams” Blaine said amongst a groan. “Oh no, not that again,”

Actually the exams wasn't what was on his mind. They hadn't gone to the point of even a blow job and he was worried Kurt wasn't ready but as Kurt finally undid the last button and threw his shirt away, he lost all his senses.

Well if that wasn't hot…

Blaine reached for Kurt's lips again, his arms roaming over Kurt's shoulders down to his bicep, over his back and down to his buttocks squeezing, as he began sucking on Kurt's bottom lip. When he squeezed his ass Kurt moaned and Blaine had to remind him to be quiet… “We really have to study Kurt,”

“It can wait, you worked hard. You got all As last semester, except for that one A- your father even said he was proud of you, remember?”

Blaine pouted “Fine, but let me take you out to dinner tonight,”

“Is that your way of asking me on a date? Blackmail?”

“Kurt…”

Kurt laughed “Okay,”

Blaine and Kurt got dressed up for the first time. Kurt had never been on a date and took 2 hours to get ready with Blaine teasing him behind the bathroom door “Come on Kurt, I booked reservations, I honestly don't care if you're wearing just shorts and a singlet,”

“Actually that'd look hot,” Blaine commented mainly to himself as Kurt wasn't answering and finally after another 10 minutes Kurt opened the door and took Blaine's breath away.

“Wow,”

“Are you seriously wearing that?”

“What's wrong with this?”

“Blaine…it's our first date, you're not wearing the blazer on our first date,”

“I can't believe I really haven't taken you out when we've been dating for 3 months, what's wrong with me?”

“You're a slow learner honey,” Kurt laughed and kissed Blaine's cheek.

“Well there was that picnic….” But then Blaine stopped “Actually no, that doesn't count,”

“You can't not count that Blaine,”

“Yes I can,”

“Oh come on,  because you fell off the boat and it was raining and you were miserable because you tried to recreate The Notebook, and we had to call for help? Other than that it was perfect,”

“Still doesn't count,”

Kurt crossed his arms unhappily “Yeah well your still not wearing that blazer, nice try in trying to change the topic,”

“Baby…you love the blazer”

“Don't baby me…if I'm going to be taken out, I want it done properly, it's supposed to be special…isn't it?” His face fell and Blaine regretted teasing Kurt when seeing uncertain features wash over Kurt's pretty face. Blaine reached out for Kurt's hands and held them up to his lips.

Kurt really did look gorgeous.

 “Of course I know this is our first date, it's pretty hard for me to change when you take over the  bathroom for over 2 hours, I had my clothes ready in there, I just need to gel my hair. I'm surprised you didn't notice, and try to rearrange my outfits,”

“Now you have me worried,”

“Don't be,”

“Fine, but leave your hair, I like it like that,” Kurt said reaching out to twirl a curl as Blaine smiled.

“Okay… may I use the bathroom now? Is it vacant?”

Kurt laughed and a small smile appeared on Kurt's handsome face. He leaned over and kissed Blaine's cheek and said he'd wait for him outside.

Minutes later Kurt laughed as he heard Blaine shout “KUUUUURT WHY DID YOU INSTAGRAM ME IN MY BLAZER THAT'S NOT WHAT I'M WEARING FOR DINNER!”

“But you said you love your Blazer” Kurt shouted back.

“Maybe I should stay in it then!”

Half an hour later Blaine emerged and thankfully not in his robe

“You look amazing,” Kurt said in awe as he fixed Blaine's bowtie.

“Not as amazing as you beautiful,”

“Corny,”

“You started it,”

Blaine looked over at Kurt's phone and noticed him fiddling with the buttons, he rolled his eyes as Kurt “I still can't believe you took that photo,”

Kurt laughed and then his eyebrow rose up in pleasant surprise as a Limo arrived outside the front gates of Dalton

 “Blaine…oh honey,” Kurt looked overwhelmed and couldn't help the giggle as Blaine took his hand and led him over to the car as Wes got out of the driver's seat, tipped his hat to them and stood in a chauffers uniform while greeting them “Good evening gentlemen, I am at your service for the night, where would you like to go first?”

Blaine's smirk was hidden behind his calm and cool nature as he opened a door for Kurt and showed his hand the way, bowing gently “After you good sir,”

“Blaine shouldn't we tell Wes…”

“It's a surprise, he already knows where were going,” He lowered his voice as he opened the passenger seat door for Kurt and ushered  him in the limo “He's just dramatizing the scene,”

“I heard that, you owe me big time Blaine,”

“Thank you Wes,”

Blaine got in after Kurt and was pleasantly surprised by how clean and spacious the seating was. He definitely owed Wes a big one.

He looked to Kurt who was looking around him with wide eyes and a beaming smile.

“Oh shit!” He called

Wes froze in the front who had just started the car and Blaine looked stunned as Kurt looked at him with horror “Kurt …you swore,”

“I forgot to take a photo for Instagram!” Wes groaned in the front and Blaine laughed.

“Kurt sweety, you took one back in the room remember?” and on thought “Of my uniform…” Blaine added.

“No Blaine, I mean of the limo! I've never been in a limo before, and I want my dad to –

 “We have plenty of times to do that at the restaurant, your reservation is at 8,” Wes said still in his chauffeur tone starting the car despite Kurt's whining. Blaine laughed as Kurt pouted at him.

“It's not funny,” Kurt continued to look disappointed. Blaine shook his head.

“No it's adorable,” He agreed as he leaned in and kissed Kurt who responded after a seconds protest.

A device started to roll up making sounds which made their heads snap to the front as the board rose in between Kurt and Blaine's seating area and the view of the driver.

“If you don't mind just keep the noise level down a bit!” Wes called out in the front.

Kurt giggled at Blaine's embarrassed face and kissed him again despite his boyfriend expression.

After they arrived at a beautiful restaurant that Kurt found out that Blaine had done some work at Burt's garage when they had broken up for the short period so he could treat Kurt

Blaine handed Kurt a box after their first pleasant meal. Kurt's eyes widened and looked at Blaine “If that's an engagement ring I say yes,”

“Kurt, just open it,” Blaine smiled fondly at him as he handed it over.

Kurt opened it. It wasn't exactly an engagement ring but it was a handmade one of bubblewrap.”Is that a bowtie?” Blaine nodded as Kurt choked and looked up at Blaine with a warm smile “Blaine it's beautiful, but what is it for?”

“I want to be thankful this year for the things that I have. I have you in my life Kurt, and I never imagine how much of a difference a person can make. It's a promise ring,”

“But what are you promising?” Kurt asked his cheeks wide in his smile still as Blaine watched the emotions behind his eyes…

“Kurt….I love you,”

Kurt gaped for a minute before responding “I love you too Blaine,”

“And this promise ring is a reminder. To always love you, to defend you, to surprise you, always pick up your phone call no matter what Im doing and to kiss you whenever and wherever I want...” Kurt looked around the restaurant blushing as Blaine continued he turned back

“And mostly to remember how imperfectly perfect you are,”
