Kurt took a breath before opening the door to his home. His home. He really should not have to be afraid go inside.
Kurt pushed away the nerve's and opened the door. He looked around thanking whoever that his father was not there. Kurt took of his coat and shoes then mad his way down stairs to his room. He knew what he had to do today. It was now or never. Tell his father now to let someone else tell him. Since apparently the whole schools knows. Kurt was just down right nervous.
But this was it. He was going to tell his dad he was in fact gay. People might say he was overreacting about the whole thing.
"Oh your father will still love you"
"Just calm down Kurt, nothing's going to happen."
Those where some of the things Kurt heard when he tried to talk to someone about coming out. They where wrong. He had the right to be scared. His father got so mad when Kurt would just listen to Broadway or watching America's Next Top Model when some dub sports game was on T.V also.
Kurt sometimes wondered what it would be like if his mother was still alive. Sure she did not do that much to help Kurt when he was younger. But when Kurt was crying his little eyes out after his father yelled at him, Alice Hummel would always come to rub soothing circles on his back, and watch Disney movies with her little boy.
His mother died when Kurt was 8. Car accident. His father was then his only parent. There was certainly no comfort or late night Disney movies.
That was then. This was now.
Kurt took a deep breath. Breathing in all the fear, hurt, loneness he has felt in his life. He stood up from his bed and walked over to his bedroom door. He grasped on the door handle and turned it. He excited the room with a sigh.
When Kurt got upstairs he saw his father hunched over the table doing paper work. When Kurt started to walk towards his father he looked up from the papers and saw his son.
"Kurt. Why are you home so late" His father asked with one eyebrow raised.
"I, um...I joined a club at school" Kurt stuttered a bit.
"Oh? What club?"
"Erm, Glee Club...dad"
"Glee Club? Like show choir. Kurt that’s for gay boys" His father said with a disguised of his face.
Kurt's heart started beating his chest. This was the time. The time that he was going to relive everything that his father probably already knew but was just denying it.
"Well dad...maybe, maybe I am...."
"Maybe you are a what?"
"Dad please stop. You know just as well as I do what im trying to say" Kurt said with his voice cracking a bit.
"Yes. But I want to here you say it"
Kurt did not respond. Why could he just not get out the words of "Dad, im gay" After hiding it for so long from his father he wanted to scream it from the rooftops.
"Kurt....SAY IT" His father shouted, now getting angry.
"I'm....I'm.....gay" Kurt whispered .
His father did not respond. Kurt looked up from the ground to his father. His father was just staring at him. With the dark eyes of disappointment that Kurt has gotten used to. Kurt began to feel more fear coil up in his stomach.
"Dad...please just say something" Kurt got out.
"Kurt you know that I do not support homo's. I do not agree with people choosing to live like this. So my words to you are....get out." His father said coldly.
Kurt heart stop at those lasts words. Was this it. Was Kurt defeated in his battle, just like that? He did not know what to say, so he just looked up at his father with tears starting to pool in his eyes. But his father knew just what to say.
"Go downstairs to your room and pack your things you will need and leave. Now"
Kurt looked at his dad for a little bit then some how began to move his feet towards his room. He went down the steps with a blurry vision.
When he reached he room his went into his closet and pulled out his suitcase and set it down on his bed. He was not packing for a nice trip or a fun overnighter at a friends house. No he got kicked out of his own house. Everything he knew was going to be cut in half. Kurt started pulling clothes from his dresser and his closet out, stuffing them into his suit case not caring about folding. He was just angry now. How could his own father do this to him. Kurt was still only in high school! So what now?
Kurt finished packing with hot tears trailing down his face. He wheeled the suit case up the stairs and saw that his father was still in the same spot when he left.
"Okay, you done. You may get your coat and shoes and leave. I have out your saving onto you bank card so you don’t have to come back." His father stood up and went to go walk back upstairs his room. Right before he turned around and said "Goodbye Kurt" and went back up.
Goodbye...
