“So why did you want to come to New York after high school?” Blaine asked. He and Kurt were in the back of a cab and on their way to his small apartment. He decided it would be best to keep conversation light until they were back home, not to mention he was exhausted from the emotional roller coaster ride he just got off.

“I had big plans to go to NYADA and become a performer,” Kurt answered.

“Oh Wow! I went to NYADA.”

“Really!? Cooper never told me. Though I guess he never knew I wanted to go. No one ever talked about what they were going to do in case they…” Kurt was going to say “didn't make it” but considering the circumstances he thought better of it. “I'm sorry.”

“It's alright. I guess I'll have to get used to it. And Coop didn't know I got into NYADA.”

Kurt nodded his head. No one had time to write letters to family back home. All they did was train, sleep, and fight. After a few more turns around city blocks, Blaine announced that they had arrived. Kurt only had the clothes on his back so there was no need to carry luggage in. Only when Blaine paid the taxi driver did Kurt realize that he had nothing; no money, no clothes, nothing.

“Kurt? You coming?”

“Yeah, yeah,” Kurt answered and followed Blaine up to his studio. Blaine opened the door and stepped aside so Kurt could walk in.

“This is pretty much it,” Blaine announced. Kurt looked around. The door opened into the living room. There was a small couch and television. Beyond the living room were two closed doors. On one of the side walls was a fridge and toaster oven. “I know it is not much but I've always been on my own. One door is to my room and the other is to the bathroom.”

“This place is huge compared to the bunk I've been living on for the last six years,” Kurt replied.

Blaine chuckled. “I don't actually have an oven so I have to get pretty creative when cooking. There is a hot plate in the cupboard above the counter.”

“Well I'm sure anything will taste better than the beans I've been living off of! Do you know how many carbs are in beans?”

“Well you look great so I imagine not that many,” right as that left Blaine's mouth he blushed. “I-I'm so sorry.”

“It's fine Blaine,” Kurt brushed it off. If Kurt was being honest, it was nice to be complemented. He lived with a bunch of homophobic men and after Cooper died, he was told how disgusting he was. “Um, do you think I could shower before we talk?”

“Of course, we don't even have to talk tonight. I'm utterly exhausted.” Blaine got up and grabbed a towel out of some closet, then he pulled out a box and grabbed some pajamas. “These were Cooper's, they look like they may fit you.”

“Thank you,” Kurt took the clothes and towel from Blaine and they shared a soft smile. Kurt went into the bathroom and took a shower. The hot water felt incredible on his skin. He couldn't even remember the last time he was able to shower with warm water. He made it quick though because he didn't Blaine to wait too long. After he got dressed in the pajamas, he exited the bathroom to find Blaine passed out on the couch. The gel in his hair had started to lose its hold and a couple of curls sprung free. The thoughts Kurt had upon seeing them made him feel like a teenager again, but he quickly brushed those aside.

“Blaine,” he whispered.

“Hmmm?” Blaine answered. All of a sudden he shot up. “Oh I'm sorry I fell asleep.”

“No worries,” Kurt answered with a chuckle. Blaine stood up and pulled the cushions off the couch, revealing a pull out. Kurt helped him and soon there was another bed. Kurt went to lay down but Blaine stopped him.

“You get the bed, Kurt,” Blaine told him.

“What? No! Blaine I've already intruded enough,” Kurt tried to argue.

“You're here at my request, and you're my first guest. Go.”

Kurt wanted to argue but he was too tired. He watched Blaine climb under the blankets on the makeshift bed and wrap himself around a pillow. Though he was exhausted, Kurt didn't think he would get much sleep if he had tried, so he sat on the edge of the bed. The boys talked well into the night. They talked a lot about Cooper. Tears were shed but not to the point where either of the boys were sobbing. around two in the morning Kurt announced that he was going to bed. He thank Blaine profusely but Blaine simply responded with That's what Cooper would've wanted. As Kurt walked toward the bedroom he could've swore he heard Blaine add, “I think he sent you to me.”
