Thanks for reading! I will update soon! I have every intention of putting a chapter up each day. Please leave a review.
Kurt shoved his carry on in the overhead cabinet of the plane. He sat down in the aisle seat, internally chiding himself for not booking a window seat. He was a nervous flier for sure. Not without reason though, his mother died in plane crash when he was eight. Kurt bounced his foot nervously, willing for a distraction to come his way. Oh, that would do. A short, curly haired boy was walking down the aisle. He was wearing bright yellow pants with no socks and a striped bowtie.
"I think thats my seat." Kurt snapped out of his reverie to realize the curly headed boy was standing directly in front of him.
"Im s-sorry," Kurt said immediately. The boy just gave him a kind smile and Kurt stood up so the stranger hed just been drooling over could get to his seat.
"Never flown before…?"
"Kurt Hummel. And no, Ive always wanted to travel but some fears have kept me back. Not anymore though."
"Well Kurt Hummel, Im Blaine Anderson and I think its very brave of you to no longer let your fear control you."
"Thank you. Where are you headed?"
"I believe were both headed to New York as thats where this plane lands," Blaine answered teasingly.
"I meant after New York, Smart Ass," Kurt sassed back, already feeling his tension ease away.
"Im not making a connecting flight, New York is my destination. My father is sending me there to visit some colleges."
"Wow, thats incredible. I would love to go to school in New York but I dont want to leave my father all alone in Ohio," Kurt answered sullenly.
"Youre from Ohio!?" Blaine asked, excitedly bouncing up and down in his seat.
"Yes. Im from Lima. Though thats hardly exciting," Kurt answered while gesturing at Blaines bouncing confusedly.
"Im from Ohio too, Westerville. My dad runs a law firm there."
"Neat. My dad owns a tire shop. What schools are you touring?"
"Some stupid law schools that my father wants me to attend. Im going to try to set up tours with NYU, NYADA, and Juilliard though."
"Thats amazing. I wish I could visit those schools. I would love to be a performer."
"Why cant you?"
"Oh, my dad would have a hard time with it I think," Kurt answered.
"I understand that! My father wants me to be a lawyer and all I want to do is compose music. He just doesnt understand."
"Oh, Im so sorry. But I meant my dad would have a hard time with the distance. Its just been me and him since my mom died and his health isnt in the best shape."
"Im sorry to hear about your mother, Kurt. I bet she was lovely."
"She was. She died in a plane crash when I was eight." Tears sprung into Kurts eyes when he told Blaine about his mother. Blaine grabbed Kurts hand and ran his thumb over the back of it soothingly. "My father has supported me in everything, I just dont want to leave him."
"Im sure hed understand though. You said he supports you," Blaine tried to calm Kurt.
"He does. Hes amazing. Ever since I came out hes stood up for me and weve become closer."
"You two became closer after you came out?" Blaine asked- eyebrows drawn up in confusion at such an absurd idea.
"Yes. Is that weird?" Kurt asked.
"NO! No, its wonderful. After I came out to my dad he sent me off to a boarding school of all boys, which I never could understand the logic behind, but anyway, he did everything he could to turn me straight."
"Blaine Im so sorry!" Kurt flipped his hand over so that he could hold Blaines. Blaines eyes started to well up with tears.
"Im sorry," Blaine shook his head and opened his eyes, willing the tears to go away. "I dont usually let myself get so emotional like this."
"Its okay to cry Blaine. Youre only human," Kurt offered a small smile, his eyes meeting Blaines. Blaine nodded his head once and let the tears stream down his face. Kurt wrapped his arms around the boy and just held him for a few minutes.
After Blaine calmed down a little bit he sat back up and chuckled to himself. "Here I was trying to comfort you and Im a mess."
Kurt wiped a tear off of Blaines cheek and replied. "Youre not a mess Blaine, you had to endure something rough. I dont know how Id carry on if my father didn't accept me for me."
"How long are you in New York for Kurt?"
Kurt was a little taken aback by the abrupt change in subject but answered anyway. "A week. Why?"
"Lets make a deal. Ill give you my phone number and when were in New York, we have to text each other everyday and tell each other something we did."
"Okay," Kurt agreed with a smile. Blaine seemed to be a good friend to Kurt so he was glad to be getting to know more about him.
"And, I want you to come with me to visit the performing arts schools."
"Really!?"
"Yes."
"I would love to Blaine thank you!!!" Kurt answered gleefully and flung his arms around Blaine in a tight embrace.
“Attention all passengers, the plane is about to take off.”
Kurt tensed around Blaine and pulled back slowly. “Here Kurt,” Blaine said offering his hand up. “Take my hand. Take off can be kind of scary.”
Kurt clutched at Blaine's hand until his fingers were white. “Easy there now, I need these babies if I want to be able to continue to play the piano.”
Kurt's grip loosened immediately. “Sorry!”
“No problem, here take these.” Blaine pulled out a couple of pills and a bottle of water. “Don't worry, they'll help you sleep.”
“Thanks.” Kurt took the two pills and swallowed them. A few minutes later he was sound asleep and leaning on Blaine's shoulder. Blaine just rubbed his finger across the back of Kurt's hand and watched him sleep.
