"Hi, Id like to book a room with two beds for the night." Kurt said to the receptionist of the very run down motel. He felt dirty just standing in the lobby but both he and Blaine agreed that Gabe would look for them at an expensive hotel.
"Im sorry sir but all of our doubles are booked tonight. I have a single with a king bed." the receptionist replied.
Kurt glanced at Blaine to see if he was okay with it. Blaine nodded his head saying that he was so tired he didnt care. Kurt turned back to the desk lady and said theyd take it. The lady took his card and ran it through the system and then gave them two keys. She gave them directions to their room and the boys took off that way.
"This place is a hole," Kurt complained.
"Yeah," Blaine agreed and sat down on the edge of the bed. "What side do you sleep on?"
Kurt glanced at the bed. "The middle usually, so I guess it doesnt matter."
Blaine chuckled and stood up walking over to the bathroom. "Im going to take a shower," he said walking to the bathroom.
"In this dump?"
"No, outside in the snow. Yeah in this dump."
"Okay. Ill just watch whatevers on tv."
"Its 2:30 Kurt. I dont think there is anything on except for infomercials."
"Ugg, tonight so didnt go how I planned."
"Yeah, same here."
"Im sorry Blaine. I shouldnt be complaining. My night looks like a vacation compared to yours."
"Yeah well Im sure being cheated on felt like a slap in the face so Im not so sure our nights were all that different."
Kurts eyes welled up with tears and Blaine immediately felt bad for upsetting Kurt again. Kurt got off the bed and walked over to Blaine. He threw his arms around the smaller boy and cried into his shoulder. "Im so sorry Blaine. Its all my fault I shouldnt have kissed you at midnight. Then Gabe wouldnt have hurt you."
"No Kurt dont say that. Im the one who suggested you kiss me at midnight so its my own fault,"Blaine explained. Then Blaine cupped Kurts cheek and pulled him to where he could look into his eyes. "Besides, I dont regret kissing you."
Kurt stared into Blaines eyes trying to figure if Blaine was really saying what he thought he was saying. Kurt decided that Blaine was in fact telling him that he shared Kurts feelings and he leaned into kiss him when something black and hairy caught the corner of his eye.
He jumped back and ran behind Blaine screaming "KILL IT" over and over again.
Blaine looked up to where Kurt had been staring with wide eyes and saw a huge black spider. He quickly pulled off a shoe and hit the spider. At least he tried to hit the spider. He actually missed it completely and the spider started to scurry quickly along the wall.
"OH MY GOD BLAINE KILL IT!!!!!"
"Im trying Kurt," Blaine yelled back again as took his other shoe off and moved towards the spider. The spider however jumped on the floor and started to crawl right towards Kurt.
"AHHHHH!!!!"
Kurt screamed and ran to hide behind Blaine again but he tripped halfway there and smacked right into Blaine sending the two boys tumbling on top of the bed. Kurt temporarily forgot about the spider when he realized he had Blaine pinned underneath him. He looked down at Blaine who was looking back at him intently. Kurt leaned down but when he was just a centimeter from Blaines lips Blaine whispered to him. "Dont move Kurt."
Kurt froze. Blaine slowly rolled Kurt to the side and then looked at him apologetically before hitting his arm hard. "OW! What was that for?" Kurt demanded.
Blaine just flicked his eyes to the floor beside the bed and Kurt followed his gaze to find that the spider was dead. "That thing was on my arm!?"
"Uh-huh" Blaine answered but he was distracted because they were still tangled together and Kurt was still clinging to him. The moment was short lived however because Kurt jumped up and declared that he was not going to spend another second in that shitty hotel and that he would just sleep in the car.
Blaine followed him out of the hotel and climbed in the passenger seat beside Kurt. Kurt started driving on a road that Blaine didnt recognize, though that was not surprising as he spent pretty much all his spare time studying and Kurt, having graduated, was already familiar with the city. The road took the boys along the outskirts of the city and Kurt pulled into a small stores parking lot. "Ill be right back. Do you have to use the bathroom?"
"Yeah."
"Okay. Im just going to buy some things while youre in the restroom."
"Alright. Ill meet you back out at the car then."
The boys went separate ways. Kurt bought a couple pairs of sweat pants, some blankets, two pillows, and a few other things he thought they may need. Blaine came out of the bathroom and saw Kurt checking out so he went back to the car. Once back in and buckled Kurt drove them out a little ways until they came to an open field.
"Here we are," Kurt said and got out of the front seat. He opened the back door and flipped the seats forward so that the back row of seats disappeared leaving flat space. Then he grabbed a box out of the trunk and blew up the air mattress inside that he kept for nights when he had nowhere to go. He set it on the now gone back seats. "You coming?" Kurt asked looking up at Blaine who had just been watching.
"Yeah sorry," he answered quickly and climbed out of the front seat. Kurt came around to his side and handed him a pair of sweat pants.
"Theres a bathroom over there you can change in. Its not the cleanest but after that hotel I think it will look pristine."
Blaine said thanks and headed over to the bathroom. He changed out of his clothes and folded them neatly knowing that Kurt wouldnt approve of them being any other way. He walked back out the car finding Kurt had already changed and Blaines breath hitched when he saw Kurts pale chest and back. Kurt was opening the sun roof. Blaine had thought it odd that it was over the backseat but given the situation they were in it made sense. He climbed onto the air mattress and slid under the covers. Kurt climbed into the bed next to him a few minutes later and shut the back door. He locked the doors and made sure the alarm was armed before he snuggled down under the blankets.
Both of the boys were lying on their backs looking at the stars. Their shoulders were touching but Blaine told himself it was only because they wouldnt fit otherwise. Though Kurt did bring me to an awfully romantic spot....no Blaine, dont go there.
After a few more minutes of gazing at the stars Blaine heard Kurt start to sniffle. "Kurt, are you okay? What did I do wrong?"
"Nothing. You didnt do anything wrong Blaine. Its just this place. My mom had to fly to New York for work sometimes and she would bring me here."
Blaine didnt quite know what to say. He knew Kurts mom had died when he was eight. Instead of saying anything Blaine just pulled Kurt into his embrace and kissed the top of his head. Kurt cried quietly into his shoulder and soon fell asleep.
