Kurt had slipped out of the living room. No one had noticed. He just wanted to be alone a while. Kurt didn't want to go into his room in case Blaine came back. Air, that was what he needed. Kurt walked outside the dorm place to the small garden arena. He found a bench a little hidden behind some trees and looked to the ground. He took out his phone and decided to send his dad a text as promised. He just let him know he was ok and he would text tomorrow. He got a short ok kiddo back. Lost in thoughts he looked around the little garden. It was a nice place and exactly what he needed sometimes. A place to clear his head and get the memories out of it. He hated to be in large crowds. It made him feel like he couldn't breathe. It was a consequence he had to live with after years of bullying. He remembered the large bruises, the glances and the pain. He would never hear them come though. How could he. It was impossible to be safe. They would just sneak out and stand behind him. Life was unfair and Kurt had learned to live with it. But now he just wanted it all to end. A new chapter, a new beginning. Like opening a book that's still unwritten. Kurt lent back against the bench and closed his eyes a little. Just breathing in and enjoying the fresh air.
Blaine stretched his hand out to hold Kurt's but he couldn't find it. He looked next to him and saw that Kurt was gone. He started to panic immediately and looked around to see him. “Anyone seen Kurt or where he went?” Everyone just looked up and shook his head. Blaine ran out of the door and to their dorm but Kurt wasn't there. He felt bad. He had completely ignored Kurt while he was still fitting in. David, Wesley, Jeff and Nick entered the room and looked at him with questioning eyes. “He isn't here.” Blaine sank down on his bed with his hands in his hair. “I totally messed up didn't I? I'm a bad roomie. He's just fitting in and I completely ignored him while it must be difficult to just fit in the conversations.” He felt a hand on his shoulder and looked up at Wes. “Let's look around the school and maybe we'll find him?” They split up. Nick and Jeff would look around the school building and David and Wes would look around the dorms upstairs. Blaine stayed downstairs and looked around. He ran around the corner to see the door to the garden open. He decided to take a long even though it must be cold outside. He saw a figure sitting on the bench between the trees. He went back inside and upstairs. He saw David and Wes looking and screamed to them. “Guys, you can stop looking. I found him. Just tell Nick and Jeff ok?” Before they had time to answer, Blaine ran into his dorm room and took a blanket. He ran down the stairs to the garden with the blanket. Kurt was still sitting there looking at his feet. Blaine knew something must have happened to him. There was no way someone would changes schools in November without a good reason. He sighed and walked to Kurt.
Kurt jumped a little. He felt a hand on his shoulder and went in defensive mode. He tried to make himself little ready for the slap that would come. When no one came he saw Blaine standing there with a confused look. Kurt just smiled at him and looked down again. Blaine sat down next to him and showed him the blanket. He placed it around their shoulders and sat a little closer to Kurt so their shoulders were bumping. Blaine took the little notebook Kurt was holding and started to write a message. You were gone. We were looking for you. It's freezing out here. Kurt read it and looked up with a strange look. No one ever cared enough to come after him beside the New Directions and these kids just knew him. Blaine saw the look and started writing again. Told you they would be your friends and brothers. We take care of each other. Kurt just smiled a little shy. Thank you. Two simple words with a big meaning. They just sat together in silence. It was nice. Kurt started to shiver though. The blanket was nice but it was cold for November. Blaine wrapped his arm around him and pressed a little closer to Kurt to keep him warm. After a while he took the notebook and wrote a simple message. We should go inside. We don't want you to get ill on the first day. That would be depressing. Kurt chuckled and stood up. Blaine took his hand and they walked back to their dorm.
It was a little early to sleep so Blaine decided to ask if Kurt wanted to watch a movie. He took a piece of paper and wrote on it. He walked to Kurt and placed his hand on his shoulder. Kurt turned around to see the message. You like to watch a movie? Kurt just smiled at him and Blaine took that as an ok. He walked to his laptop and placed it on his bed. He took Kurt's hand towards the little bookcase next to his bureau. Kurt chuckled a little and took his notebook out. Looks like we will watch a lot of Disney movies. I love them. Blaine chuckled. As do I he wrote down. Kurt picked out finding Nemo. Blaine walked towards the bed and laid as much as he could against the wall. Kurt tried to lay next to him even though the bed was rather small. Blaine placed the DVD in his laptop and rested the laptop on his lap. During the movie, Kurt became more relax and rested his head on Blaine's chest. Blaine didn't mind and wrapped his arm around Kurt. They watched the movie and sometimes they just would start laughing at the same moment. Blaine had to admit he was lucky with his roommate. He knew they would be just fine.
The credits came on screen and Kurt took that as sign to sit up. He pointed towards the bathroom and Blaine nodded as he understood. Kurt just smiled and disappeared into it with his pyjamas. Blaine placed his laptop on his bureau and lay a little longer on the bed. He closed his eyes a little. He had to admit that it was a little weird to talk with papers but he also liked it. It was a little their thing. He smiled at the thought. He felt a hand on his shoulder and looked up to look into two blue eyes. Kurt pointed towards the bathroom as a gesture that he would use it now. Blaine smiled and disappeared into it. He looked at the bottles standing at Kurt's side. He was a little curious and looked at them. They all looked very expensive and for his skin. Blaine brushed his teeth and pulled on his pyjama pants and a t-shirt. He walked out of the bathroom with a bottle from Kurt. Kurt was sitting in his bed and looked confused when Blaine came walking out of the bathroom with one of his skin care products. Blaine took the notebook beside Kurt's bed and started to write. What are these? Kurt just smiled and took the book over. These are for my skin. I don't want to get wrinkles ever. Blaine read the note two times before he started to laugh. You have ten different bottles? Kurt just shrugged. Wait, you put all these every night on your face? Blaine was a little surprised. Of course I do. That's how I hold my skin perfect. Blaine chuckled. You should show me sometime. That would be interesting. Kurt just laughed and shook his head. If you insist I'll show you one night. But not today. I'm tired and I need my hours of sleep so I don't like exhausted tomorrow. Blaine just grinned and wrote one last message before bringing the bottle back to the bathroom. Goodnight Kurt. Kurt saw Blaine walk towards the bathroom and just smiled. Maybe this year wouldn't be so bad after all.
