“See,” Blaine said as his lips curled into his usual grin, his eyes locked with Kurt’s, “I told you I’d catch you if you fell.”
Kurt just stood there, unable to move. If he brought himself forward by just an inch, he could kiss Blaine. Unfortunately, Blaine pulled away before he could even think straight again.
“Come on,” Blaine said, turning around to grab his backpack. Once Kurt’s brain finally kicked back into gear, he followed Blaine and sat beside him in the middle of the roof.
“So,” Blaine began, “technically we’re still at Breadstix; I just think this part has a better view.”
“Yeah,” Kurt muttered, mesmerized at the view. It was definitely nice; you could see many buildings since the restaurant was situated in a busier part of town. The city was beautifully lit, although the sun was only mostly set and there was still a bit of sunlight out. He was put back into the moment when Blaine handed him a fork along with his food, and when Blaine had his food out too, they continued eating. They sat in comfortable silence for a moment, enjoying their food and the peacefulness of the night. Once Blaine finished eating and Kurt was almost done, he pulled another container out of his backpack, opening it to reveal a piece of chocolate cake.
“There is no way I’m eating that,” Kurt spoke, placing his empty container behind him.
“It’s chocolate,” Blaine scoffed jokingly. “Who doesn’t like chocolate?”
“I do, it’s just bad for my figure.”
“Figure shmigure,” Blaine teased. “Eat it.”
“No.”
“Eat it now.”
“No.”
“Just a piece.”
“I say no!” Kurt said with a fake pout on his face.
Blaine returned the pout, holding a piece of cake on his fork in front of Kurt’s face, Kurt’s mouth clamped shut. “Please,” Blaine gave Kurt puppy dog eyes, “I swear you’ll love it!”
“Okay fine,” Kurt gave in, letting Blaine feed him the piece of cake. “Mmm.”
“See,” Blaine huffed, hating how amazing the sounds Kurt makes are, “I knew you’d like it.”
“I’m not eating any more though,” Kurt turned his nose up as Blaine laughed and shoved a huge forkful of cake into his own mouth.
“That’s perfectly fine with me,” Blaine answered, his cheeks full. Once Blaine was done eating, he threw all of the containers off of the roof, much to Kurt’s protest, and lay back, Kurt doing the same.
“It’s really nice out here at night,” Kurt spoke quietly, staring up at the stars.
“Yeah,” Blaine agreed, “especially with you, rather than a few of my friends and a bottle of Jack Daniels.”
Kurt laughed. “Seriously?”
“Oh, definitely,” Blaine grinned. “You’ve drank before, haven’t you?”
“Well, yes. But it wasn’t exactly the best experience.”
“What happened?”
Kurt told Blaine about the incident with April Rhodes, and after Blaine talked about his previous experiences on this roof, like when Mark almost rolled off, or when they threw water balloons at people passing by during a lunch rush one day earlier in the summer. After Blaine told those stories, Kurt continued on about Rachel’s party. Blaine listened and laughed along as Kurt told him about his friends. Kurt was staring up at the stars, so he didn’t realize that Blaine was gazing at his face for the most part.
“You’re beautiful,” Blaine said an hour later before he could even think about it. Kurt stopped in the middle of telling Blaine about Tina and Mike, and sat up, looking down at Blaine, who was still staring back at him with a dazed smile on his face.
“So I’m guessing you weren’t listening to my story,” Kurt wondered.
“Well, yes,” Blaine started, “of course I was. I just felt like I needed to say that, although I apologize for interrupting. Please continue.” Blaine sat up, and once again his face was only inches apart from Kurt’s.
“I would if I could concentrate,” Kurt whispered, looking straight into Blaine’s hazel eyes
Blaine just chuckled lightly, and Kurt could feel his breath on his lips. It's now or never, Kurt thought, but just as Kurt was going to lean forward, Blaine’s lips were on his.
They both inhaled lightly at the same time, feeling a rush of excitement between them. Blaine lifted a hand to cup Kurt’s cheek, and Kurt tilted his head a little to the side, leaning in to the kiss. When Kurt kissed Brittany a while back, it didn’t seem at all like this. It didn’t express as much emotion, at least not compared to the vast amount he was feeling in this kiss. It was a mixture of happiness, excitement, and giddiness, and he wanted to scream and shout ‘hallelujah’, but never stop kissing. When they broke apart, a little out of breath, they couldn’t take their eyes off of each other, and Blaine brought his hand down on the roof to steady himself.
“You’re pretty amazing too,” Kurt spoke, his eyes boring into Blaine’s. Blaine had kissed many guys before, but none of those kisses ever compared to this one. Kurt’s lips were soft and warm, and he tasted of diet Coke. When Blaine’s lips met his, it was one of the best kisses in his life; comfortable, content, light… the list could go on and on. Before, as soon as the other boys would get too into the relationship, or said they loved him, he would always back off and end it. At this moment, he didn’t care what Kurt did or wanted, as long as he could keep being with him and kissing him.
Think about that later, Blaine said to himself. He couldn’t stop staring at Kurt’s lips; slightly parted, and like his cheeks, redder than usual from the previous kiss. Of course, they were also curved upwards in a light smile. Looking back into Kurt’s eyes, they seemed to have some unspoken agreement, for their lips met each other’s again, while both of their hearts raced, beating hard against their chests. Kurt, like Blaine, liked the way he felt when they kissed, and never wanted to stop feeling it. Blaine pulled back, smiled, and brushed his lips on Kurt, their eyes locked. Kurt, wanting more, leaned over, their bodies touching lightly, and pushed his lips against Blaine’s. Blaine’s hand went up to Kurt’s cheek again, and Kurt wrapped his arms around Blaine’s neck. After kissing once more for a long time, Blaine decided he didn’t want to push Kurt too far, and broke it, resting his forehead against Kurt’s.
“Thank you,” Blaine said, answering Kurt’s previous statement, a little out of breath. He stood up with a huge grin on his face, and held out his hand for Kurt to take. “We’d better get you home, it’s getting late.”
“But I like staring at the stars,” Kurt spoke lightly, looking up before looking back down at his watch reading 12:15. “Oh, never mind then!” His face twisted before gazing back into Blaine’s eyes, smiling and taking his hand.
Once they reached their cars, Kurt was about to say goodbye, before realizing something; “I don’t have your number.” He took his phone out of his back pocket and held it out for Blaine to take.
“What?” Blaine said, turning around. Shortly after, what Kurt said clicked in. “Oh,” Blaine continued, “I already added my number on your phone.”
“But… did you pick pocket my phone?!”
“Yeah. Don’t worry, I put it back.”
Kurt stuttered his words, his brain not processing what he didn’t even realize occurred. “What, you… okay then.” He put his phone back in his pocket. “You better not have taken my Gucci discount card!”
Blaine laughed. Kurt found he liked when Blaine laughed; it made the whole ‘bad boy’ in Blaine fade slightly. “I don’t want you to get in trouble for being too late, I’ll talk to you later,” Blaine gave Kurt a peck on the lips, before pulling back, saying, “Goodnight, Kurt,” and hopping on his motorcycle, flashing Kurt a grin.
Even as Blaine drove away, Kurt was beaming, the events of tonight replaying in his mind. After he got in his car, he still couldn’t wipe the smile off of his face all the way home, and checked his phone to see Blaine’s name in his contacts before turning out his light and settling into a peaceful sleep.
