"So, a little bird told me you promised Rachel to get her out of here."
Kurt turned around with a sigh. He should have seen this coming, after all there were only three of them stuck here and Rachel seemed to be very communicative.
"So what if I did, Sebastian?" He had to speak through clenched teeth to avoid anyone noticing his conversation. When else would Sebastian of all people approach him if not when he was standing in the middle of a hallway full of high school students?
"Well, not that I'm setting any kind of hope on you either way, but I don't think you should get hers up. Helping Rachel to move on is sort of impossible, even for someone who actually knows what they're doing."
"Thank you so much for sharing your flattering opinion of me but I think that's no one's business but mine and Rachel's. I never promised her that we'd succeed, I merely said that I would do everything I could to help her. And I'm going to stick to that."
Before Sebastian could articulate a snarky reply their conversation was interrupted by another slushy to Kurt's face.
"Hey homo, talking to yourself now? Guess you have to ‘cause you don't have friends to do that with!" By the time Kurt had wiped most of the slushy out of his face the jocks' laughter had finally stopped echoing in his ears. At least Sebastian seemed to have deemed the incident humiliating enough for today and had left him alone for now.
Since he was - once again - late, Kurt decided that it would be safe to use the girls' bathroom to clean up. The time he'd been forced to spend in the boys' bathroom the day before had been emotionally scarring. How anyone could survive in there for more than two seconds with all those bacteria around would forever stay an unsolved mystery.
He'd just finished washing off the worst from his face when there was a loud shriek behind him.
"Kurt! What are you doing here? This is the girls' bathroom!" Rachel screamed at him as if he hadn't noticed that himself.
"I am aware. But, apart from you, there's no one in here. I would rather offer my McQueen jacket to one of the jocks before I enter the boys' bathroom again," Kurt huffed at her, focusing on trying to safe said jacket from a horrifying death by blue stains.
Rachel's gaze followed his movements and it finally seemed to click for her. "Oh. I see."
"Yes, oh. Now, if you would excuse me, could you just leave and let me get this stain out of my jacket in peace?" For a moment, Rachel looked like she wanted to reply something but in the end she just took a shaky breath and nodded weakly before walking through the door.
Kurt felt bad for sending her away like that but he was just not in the mood to deal with a 1950s ghost's opinion of his sexuality. Even if she'd have taken it well she'd still have pitied him for the slushy-thing and that was something he didn't want, either.
It wasn't too long before his senses alerted him to the presence of another ghost in the bathroom. Thinking Rachel had decided to come back and try to talk for him for some reason, Kurt spun around to give her a piece of his mind so she'd finally leave him alone for good. However, the words died on his lips when he found himself face-to-face with Blaine.
"Hi," Blaine whispered, fidgeting nervously. He obviously didn't know what to say any more than Kurt did.
"Hi," Kurt replied cautiously. "Did Rachel send you?"
Blaine looked up, an adorable caught look on his beautiful face. "Yes," he sighed. "She did. But she didn't have to tell me to come here. The moment she mentioned the slushy I wanted to make sure you're okay."
Kurt smiled, touched by the gesture. "That's nice of you. You don't have to worry, though. I'll survive. I'm not sure I can say the same for my jacket, but..." He waved his hand in the general direction of the sink were he had spread it out to dry. Well, hope dies last.
Blaine's eyes followed the gesture, lighting up as he caught sight of the piece of clothing. "A McQueen! I can't believe you'd wear that to school. To McKinley of all places. Not that a McQueen isn't always a fantastic choice, but it seems a bit of a waste."
Kurt just stared at him, mouth agape, for a good two minutes. "You recognize a McQueen jacket," he finally choked out somehow. Blaine just looked at him as if he'd just deeply insulted him.
"Of course I recognize a McQueen jacket when I see one. I could hardly call myself a fashionable gay man if I didn't," he replied indignantly. He continued talking for a good while, obviously on a rant, but to be honest Kurt didn't really hear the rest of it. His brain sort of provided nothing but white noise after Blaine had casually thrown in his sexuality.
This could be interesting four years, indeed.

Oh wow this is great! Sitting here freaking out though because I always used to get freaked out by the concept of ghosts and my door opened by itself when I was reading this and it's really dark and I don't know why I'm saying this I'm not normally this weird but it was a great chapter! :D
