Author's Notes: Oh dear, my first review on S&C xD Thanks dearest, and here's more because it's already written anyway (at least up to part 10 which I'm currently working on)<3

After that awkward moment in the hallway where they'd just stared at each other for a while, Kurt had mumbled some excuse under his breath and practically run out and across the parking lot to his car. He was way too confused by all these new emotions to have an actual conversation with Blaine right now.

The memory of Blaine's touch wouldn't leave Kurt alone all throughout his dinner preparations and he was unusually quiet during dinner itself, lost in thought. If Burt noticed anything off he didn't mention it. When your child was a medium you stopped questioning things after a while. He knew that if there was a real problem, Kurt would come to him.

The moment the last dish was put back into its place, Kurt was headed into his room, hoping to just shut out the world for a few hours and clear his head. After all, he'd probably have to face Blaine again the next morning and he wanted to be sure of what to say by then.

His plans were ruined when he closed the door behind himself only to find that his room was already occupied. The ghost of a petite brunette sat on his bed as if it belonged to her, happily swinging her legs back and forth, looking at him expectantly. Though what she expected from him, Kurt wasn't too sure of.

"Can I help you somehow?" he asked, voice two octaves higher than normal due to the shock.

"Oh, I bet you can," she smirked, hopping off of the bed and approaching him. He'd thought she was petite when she'd been sitting but now that she was standing right in front of him, Kurt realized that she merely reached up to his shoulder. "I'm Rachel, by the way, one of McKinley's resident ghosts. I've heard we had a new medium and of course I couldn't let that go uninvestigated."

"Of course," Kurt breathed, still unsure what to think of her close proximity - or her presence in his bedroom, actually.

"So, I guess it would be appropriate for you to tell me your name and probably list a few of your references. I mean, we can't have just anyone be our medium. I'll only accept the most competent of your kind as interlocutors," Rachel went on, completely oblivious to Kurt's discomfort.

"Well, I don't really have references and I don't think you have much of a choice in respect of your medium. I'm the only one you'll probably get for a while. Blaine said there were only three of us in the last ten years and personally, I'm convinced that the most competent ones won't necessarily end up in a place like McKinley. My name is Kurt, by the way. That is, if you still want to know since I have no references for you," he shot back, trying to get past her without having to walk through her.

"God, no need to be this bitchy, Kurt. I guess you're right and I'll just have to deal with what little I've got," she sighed, finally making room for him so he could get to his desk.

"Well, isn't that gracious of you. Now, if you'd excuse me, I have homework to do," Kurt snarked back, already fed up with the overbearing girl.

"Maybe I could help you! I've been top of my class back in my days!" Rachel chirped happily, obviously not getting his point.

"And when exactly were your days?" Kurt asked back, already starting on his Math homework and trying his best to just ignore her.

"The 1950s." That got Kurt to turn around and forget about Math.

"You've been stuck in this hellhole of a school for more than sixty years?" he asked incredulously, not sure he wanted to know the truth.

"Yes," Rachel murmured, barely audible. Maybe she wasn't as unbearable as she seemed at first.

"Do you know what you need to do to move on?" Rachel whimpered a bit at the question.

"Not really. I think I'm still here to help someone to fulfill their dreams since I died before I could live mine. But I'm not sure. Nothing I've done these past sixty years was enough," she said in a monotone. Kurt could tell she was trying to suppress the tears but he could hear them in her voice. He'd probably hate himself for this later but looking at her curled in on herself like that he couldn't stop himself.

"What if I promised you to find out what you need to do and help you move on?"

She stared at him disbelievingly. "You would do that for me? None of the other mediums have even offered... I think they were all fed up with me after the first five minutes."

"Well, I can't promise I won't be fed up with you in the future. But I can promise to look past that and help you. Isn't that what mediums are for?" Kurt asked cautiously, not sure how Rachel would react.

Before he knew it she had thrown herself at him, almost sitting on his lap with her arms around his neck. It wasn't exactly pleasant - her touch sent cold shivers up and down his spine. That made him think of Blaine's strangely warm touch again and Kurt was beginning to ask himself where his life at McKinley would lead him exactly. For now, all he seemed to be doing was collecting even more problems instead of solving the ones already there.
