lucky gooses, you get two chapters...
Kurt rested his head on his cool desk; it felt good, especially with his massive hangover. He knew he should have stayed home to nurse it, Rebecca would have covered for him and he was sure the studio would survive without him for one day. But he didn’t want to be home alone in his massive apartment.
He noticed since living in a crowded Parisian apartment with two female roommates, he had trouble living and sleeping by himself in his 3 bedroom apartment. So had rather be at work with his friends and employees, than be by himself in an empty and silent apartment...with his thoughts.
He decided that he was not going to drink anymore again for the millionth time. He just remembered calling the guy from the restaurant, meeting up at a bar to have drinks with him then not remembering the night before. When he woke up he was naked in the guy’s bed with his stomach covered in cum.
After cleaning himself up and putting on his clothes. He bolted out of the apartment before the guy woke up. Making sure he lost the man’s number.
So now he was in his office feeling like he was about to die.
There was a loud beep and Kurt groaned, Abby’s voice shrieked in his intercom.
“Mr. Hummel there’s someone here to see you?”
“Who is it?”
“His name is James”
Kurt rolled his eyes, wincing when his head throbbed again “James who, Abby”
“Oh, uhm let me see…”
Kurt rolled his eyes again at his oblivious assistant.
“It’s Mr. James Calvin-Anderson”
Kurt groaned again, he has expected him ever since that picture in the newspaper. He just wished it was any other day when he didn’t feel like utter shit.
“Give me a few minutes; I’ll be right with him.”
Kurt stood up and walked over to the mirror in his office. He fixed his hair and made sure he looked better than he felt. The last time he had a conversation with James he had felt weak and pathetic. He hadn’t fought and let him walk all over him.
This time Kurt wasn’t going to let him do that, he was a different person and he was going to stand his ground.
He took a deep breath to calm himself before he told Abby to bring him in. he stood behind his desk while he waited. Ready for whatever this meeting would bring.
James walked into his office, and he immediately felt dislike for each other as he walked into the room. He still radiated an air of cockiness and self-importance.
“James” Kurt said coldly.
“Kurt you look well,” James said just as icily.
Kurt rolled his eyes at him, he didn’t want to be speaking to him “let us skip the pleasantries; you and I both know we rather not be in the same room”
James laughed “no worries, I’ll keep this short; god knows I don’t want to be here anymore than I have to be.”
“What do you want James?” Kurt said with as much venom as he could.
James frowned at Kurt “what I want is for you to stay away from my husband”
Kurt raised a perfectly shaped eyebrow at him “I know you like to think you can walk around and manipulate everyone around you, but you don’t get to tell me who I can see”
he crossed his arms, standing his ground, Kurt could feel his blood pressure rising as he stood in front of the man that took away his best friend from him.
“What do you think you’re going to accomplish, did you think you can come back and Blaine would leave me, so you can sweep him up with your claws” James growled out.
Kurt laughed “really James? Is your need to control Blaine so strong that you feel that you go around and tell off every man he hangs out with?”
“He’s my husband he does what I tell him.” James retorted at him.
“Blaine’s his person, I think he can decide for himself who he sees,” Kurt knew James was controlling, but the way he talked about Blaine like he was his possession made his blood boil.
“He’s mine, I’ve given him everything and you don’t get to come back and take him away from me,” Kurt noticed his face getting red and his fist clenching in anger. He smirked at James.
“Why, Trouble in paradise?” he asked in a mock tone, the only reason James would say that is because he and Blaine were having troubles.
“You wish Hummel, Blaine’s perfectly happy with me; like I said I give him everything, things you could have never given him.”
Kurt glared at him. He wanted James to leave. He wanted to punch him in the face.
“I don’t see what possessed Blaine to marry someone like you; you’re something that someone would meet in a nightmare.”
“You think you're funny, I don’t care what you think, I telling you to stay away from him” James took a step forward, trying to seem menacing.
Kurt was having a good time winding him up, he wasn’t afraid of him; he didn’t care if he went to Blaine and told him how awful he was being to him. He didn’t give a fuck.
“I don’t care what problems you have in your marriage or what insecurities you’re dealing with, I left to let have Blaine his happy ending with you, which by the looks of it you already fucking it up.”
“Fuck you, Kurt! You don’t know anything, just back off and go back to whoring yourself around New York and leave him alone!”
Kurt was sure he was going to snap and attack him, but it took every fiber of his being not to jump over the desk and maul him.
“Like I said James you don’t tell me what to do,” Kurt said calmly.
“I told you once and I’ll tell you again, you will never be good enough for Blaine. He doesn’t deserve to be with a haughty little twink like you, he needs a real man, that’s why he never saw you as anything more”
Those words hurt Kurt, more than he wished they would. His whole life he thought those same things about himself. And James saying them was bringing him a lot of old heartaches, reasons why Blaine never loved him.
“Like I said James I don’t give a flying fuck about what you think, so I greatly appreciated it if you left my studio so I can get rid of the stench of whatever you doused yourself in out of my office” Kurt just wanted him out, dealing with him felt like his head was about to explode.
He glared at him before he turned around to walk out of his office, but stopped and turned to look at him before he left.
“You think I don’t hear everything they say about you, I know a lot of people in this town. and what they say is that you’re a whore who spreads your legs for anyone who asks for it, so stay away from him, he doesn’t need to be associated with someone like you” he gave Kurt one more glance before he walked out of the room.
Kurt was fuming. He hated that man more than he possibly could. He sat down on his chair and rested his head in his hands.
The last time he spoke to him was the night before his and Blaine’s wedding. He remembered being at the bar in the hotel having a drink waiting for Blaine to meet him.
He was going to talk to Blaine about his offer to go to Paris and what Blaine thought of it, but while he waited James came down and sat next to Kurt, much to his surprise
“How can I help you, James?” Kurt said as he took a sip of his wine
“I just wanted to have a little chat with you,” he said as he called over the bartender to get a drink.
“What about?” Kurt was curious; he and James barely spoke to each other unless they were both with Blaine.
“I just wanted to tell you that you can stop your hopeless fawning over my husband”
Kurt was not expecting that, he choked on his drink before he responded.
“What the hell are you talking about?”
The bartender brought his drink before he took a sip and looked at Kurt. “Don’t be coy with me Kurt, I see the way you look at him, you follow him like a lovesick puppy dog, it’s pathetic really”
Kurt was feeling sick, he tried to hide his feeling toward his best friend, but he guessed he wasn’t doing a really good job.
“What’s your point?”
“My point is that you can stop now, Blaine is marrying me not you. He’s mine, not yours, so you can stop imagining your little fantasies that he will ever be yours. You can start getting out of our lives.” James' tone was threatening, he could hear it, and Kurt was feeling more foolish by the second. Of course, Blaine was never going to be his, which he had come to terms with over the last few months.
“He’s my best friend; you don’t get to tell me what to do.”
“But I do, just give up Kurt and get out of his life and move on, he’s going to be my husband so it’s only a matter of time before he forgets about you, he doesn’t need you anymore.”
Kurt wanted to run as James' words settled in, he was right; he and Blaine had been drifting away ever since the engagement, and it was only a matter of time before Blaine would forget about him. Kurt could feel the tears trying to push themselves out at the thought of losing his best friend.
“Just do yourself a favor and forget about him, he was better off without you anyways” with that James took his last drink and walked out of the bar.
Kurt was utterly crushed, James was right, Blaine was happy without him there was no reason to be there anymore. He had spent ten years in love with Blaine and he never showed the slightest interest in him. He just had to accept that he would be better without him.
“Hey you”
Kurt was brought out of his thoughts as Blaine sat on the stool James was just at moments before.
He looked up to meet Blaine’s warm hazel eyes a smile plastered on his face.
“Hey,” Kurt said trying not to sound like his heart was ripped out of his chest.
Blaine’s smile faltered “is something wrong Kurt? You said you wanted to talk to me”
Kurt decided not to tell him any more, he had made his decision about Paris, so it didn’t matter what Blaine thought.
“No nothing like that, it’s not important….”
Kurt was brought out of his thoughts as his phone was ringing. His eyes shot up in surprise as he saw that was calling, but then answered.
“Hello, Wesley.”
Kurt heard Wes groan before he said anything “I swear to god you and Blaine are trying to kill me, I hate when you call me that, my mother used to call me that when I was in trouble.”
Kurt laughed at his friend “well Wesley, to what do I owe your call”
“What? I can’t just call up my old buddy and talk without wanting something?” Kurt could hear the sarcasm in his voice and just laughed again.
“Yes you can, but I’m guessing you need something or am I wrong and you just wanted to hear my wonderful voice again”
Wes chuckled “well you do have a lovely voice, you weren’t our fabulous countertenor for no reason Kurtsie”
Kurt groaned in return at the nickname “Wes…”
He just laughed again “Kurtsie, I just need a favor to ask you, I was wondering if you did editorial work?”
Kurt was intrigued; he did some for French vogue and some American editorials but nothing too recent, he was hoping to do some after he showed up at fashion week.
“I do actually, why do you ask?”
“well I was wondering if you could dress Blaine for a shoot he has in a few weeks with GQ, I know you specialize In men’s clothing, so I thought it was a great opportunity for you, your clothes were amazing, and I think Blaine would look awesome in them”
Kurt was surprised, to say the least, he wasn’t sure if it was a good idea, but the opportunity to be in GQ was an offer he could not pass off, even if it was going to be with Blaine wearing his clothes.
Then he thought about his conversation with James and he felt the anger boiling inside of him again. He thought he could go to his office and tell him what to do. Tell him he wasn’t allowed to see Blaine, Blaine who had been his best friend for ten years. He was going to do it for him and to spite James.
“Of course Wes, I would love to, it’s an amazing opportunity”
“Awesome, I’ll email you the information about the shoot; you’ll probably meet with the photographer next week and probably shoot the following week. It’s a six-page spread so bring your best designs, Blaine’s got to look amazing”
Kurt smiled “of course Wes, only the best, got it”
Wes sounded excited “I can’t wait, I’ll let you go, I’ll talk to you later, bye Kurtsie!”
Kurt rolled his eyes at his friend “bye Wesley!”
He hung up and leaned back in his chair closing his eyes. His head still hurt and he suddenly felt hungry, he realized he hadn’t eaten all day.
Kurt opened his eyes looking around franticly, he had a week to put together his best designs, so he got up and went to find Rebecca they needed to get ready because he was going to make Blaine look amazing.
He smiled at himself that he was going to see Blaine again and was going to have the opportunity to piss James off.
Suddenly his day didn’t seem so awful.
