Blaine was afraid of searching for information about Kurt, but Kurt wasn’t. After two days of looking for Blaine in their world and trying to deal with feeling guilty an idea popped up in his head during French class.
I can could find him! I mean how many Blaines can go to Dalton? It’s not a common name. It’s even odd. I like it though. Oh just four minutes until the break. Great!
In the minute he heard the bell ringing he was out of the classroom hurrying to the library. Library should be empty during breaks or almost empty, because not much student here cares about learning. They usually just chat or beat each other up.
As he reached the library he said hello to the teacher sitting at the front desk and sat down at a computer in the very back of the room. Meanwhile he hoped for Blaine to be somehow famous at school or infamous enough to be mentioned on the school’s webpage or something. He started with google and typed “Dalton Academy Blaine” obviously for his first try.
For his surprise he found the right Blaine for his first click. A picture of him with other boys wearing uniform and smiling as it was a toothpaste advertisement, with these words under the picture: Dalton Warblers got into show choir sectionals with the leading of Blaine Anderson
“No way!” Kurt said out loud and earned a questioning look from the librarian.
He read the article and a few others about the Warblers. He heard about them before but never met them on competitions before. He learned a few things about them. For example certain Blaine Anderson was their lead soloist, they never used instruments, and they had no teacher leading the choir. Their sectionals was to be held next Monday not far from Westerville. And this is when Kurt got another idea. He shut down the computer and ran out to find Rachel.
The perfect person for this task was Rachel he knew. She was so committed to their show choir the New Directions he just had to drop a few things and he knew Rachel would bite. He found him near her locker.
“Hey Rachel! How are you? Looking forward practice today?” He asked casually.
“Hey Kurt! Yes, but I’m a bit nervous about regionals and noone listens to me.”
“Regionals? You mean sectionals right? That’s in two weeks.” He asked confused.
“No I mean regionals. Sectionals is nothing. Our competitors are gonna be a group of retired and some other noname choirs. But we don’t know anything about the other sectionals winners.” She explained. Is this my birthday or what? Kurt thought, hiding a smile.
“I heard next Monday there’s a sectionals near Westerville that’s not far from here we should go see it.” He offered and from Rachels eyes he could see immediately that he got what he wanted.
“That is really a great idea! I gotta go though. Meet you at practice. Bye!” She waved at him and hurried away. Kurt stood their grinning for a few seconds.
“What are you so happy for Hummel? Found a fag who is willing to touch your baby boobs?” He heard and shook his head. Couldn’t wait until the glee club practice.
After biology he went to the choir room to meet the others. They were arguing about some cartoon character. When Mr. Schue the teacher arrived they settled and Rachel lift her hand.
“Mr. Schue, I have a suggestion.” She said. Everyone made faces as usual except for Kurt this time. “I think we should watch other sectionals, to know who our competitors are going to be at regionals. Next Monday 3pm outskirts of Westerville.” She announced. This time everyone approved which was very rare.
“Great idea Rachel, I’m gonna talk to Mr. Figgins to get a bus. Now sit down I have the perfect song for Sectionals.” He started to hand out papers for them.
The practice went on well, they decided on Santana getting the solo, which made Rachel shout and scream and yell and cry. Kurt was happy and he couldn’t bare himself to care about anything at all.
Blaine was confused about his feelings. He was mad at Kurt but on the other hand he could understand his point. He showed perfection for everyone, and never complained about his life to anyone. And Kurt couldn’t even be real! He wasn’t sure if there was a McKinley High School even existing. After all it wasn’t compulsory to name a school after every president the USA had ever had.
He didn’t google Kurt, Finn or the school. Inside he was afraid of both finding something and not finding anything. He busied himself in learning and practicing for the sectionals. He only visited his world before going to sleep every night. But he never saw Kurt there until Sunday night.
Kurt was petting a baby penguin near a river, which had a part frozen. It was cold where Kurt and the animal were but sun shone warmly everywhere else. He was wearing a fashionable light blue coat and boots. Blaine approached him barefoot in his pajamas. He felt the frozen ground beneath his feet.
“It’s really cute.” He said smiling. Kurt looked up at him with a sad smile.
“I…” he started, but Blaine was suddenly back in his bed. His parents came to wish him good night before the competition day. They talked for a few minutes, wished each other good night and when his parents left he yawned. He felt his feet still ice cold which made him smile and he dozed off.
Kurt didn’t know why Blaine had disappeared suddenly. He wanted to apologize for telling him what he did and maybe tell him he is going to see him the next day. He kept playing with his penguin for a long time, until Finn peeked into his room.
“Pssssst, Kurt. Are you awake? Kurt!” he whispered.
“Yes Finn thanks to you I am.” He whispered back.
“Man, I’m sorry, can I come in?” He was already standing at his bedside.
“You just did.” Kurt smiled at him and gestured for him to sit down.
“Are you nervous about the sectionals?” Finn asked him
“A little, just as usual. But we’re gonna win this for sure. You know who the other competitors are. What’s wrong?”
“Rachel said we might loose this time.” He whispered
“She just keeps saying that because she has no solos this time. She’s just jealous of Santana, and of course Quinn and Sam. Don’t work yourself up about this.”
“You are right she can be jealous sometimes.”
“Sometimes?” Kurt asked smiling
“Maybe most of the times.” Finn admitted. “Thanks bro, sleep well.” He patted him on the arm and left the room.
Kurt laughed inside. How come that Finn loves Rachel so much he never notices when she acts so annoying. He laid back down and fell asleep with a smile on his face. Tomorrow is going to be the day when he meets Blaine. First he has to apologize of course but he saw something in his eyes earlier at the riverside, maybe he is not that mad at him after all.
Comments
This might have been my favorite chapter so far because it got Kurt and Blaine closer to possibly meeting for real. I am interested in seeing how everything goes when the New Directions go to the Warblers sectionals and to see if Kurt and Blaine will actually get the chance to interact or if Rachel will claim that they can't spend time with the enemy as she has done many times before. I can't wait to see what happens next.
Thank you so much! I'm really glad you like it :)
