Thank you again for reading! Please review. =)
Kurt spent the next day at home just as Carole said. His father called four times to ask if he was okay, and if he needed him home. The morning wasn’t that bad. He sat down at the kitchen table with his foot prepped up on the chair next to him and helped Carole with cooking. Peeling the vegetables, stoning cherries and whipping cream. But as soon as she left for work he started to feel himself useless, because guess what: sitting alone at home when you don’t want to is boring. There is nothing watchable going on the TV, no one to chat with as everyone else is at school, homework takes you an hour to get done with even with reading ahead and clumsily walking around the ground floor in your house, as climbing the stairs is just not an option, is everything but entertaining.
He settled down reading on the couch for hours and when he finished re-reading Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets it was well into the afternoon he decided on having some cherry pie so he wobbled to the kitchen. With his newly found wooden self he dropped his fork and it landed under the table. He bent down and grabbed the fork and then he saw it. The black leather wallet under the table which was not his or Finn’s and for sure not Carole’s.
He picked it up, opened it and… Oh wow how can you look good even on an ID photo?! There it was Blaine with his gleaming hazel eyes looking at him from the tiny picture on his ID. Couldn’t find any phone numbers, so he called Carole instead.
“Hi sweetheart, is everything okay?” Her voice was full of concern.
“I’m fine Carole, just wanted to know: is Blaine there?” Did this question sound as odd to her as to him?
“Umm, not right now, but he is with one of my patients, do you want me to pass a message?” She asked with a knowing smile.
“Yes, sure, just tell him please that I’d found his wallet, he must be looking for it.” He was a little disappointed. He wanted to talk to Blaine himself.
“No problem darling. Wait! Where did you find it?”
“Um, inthekitchen.” His cheeks turned bright pink. He somehow ‘forgot’ to mention the hours they spent there to her.
“I see.” Now her whole face was lit up with a smile.
“Look, I just offered him some brownies, because he was nice enough to bring me home.”
“I didn’t say anything. Oh, I have to go but I’ll tell him that you found it. Bye.”
Kurt settled down to watch Rent. Finn coming home from practice wanted to join but he wouldn’t let him until he took a shower. Kurt was excited. Maybe he’s coming here after work again. Or maybe we can meet somewhere. He glanced at his foot and frowned. Or maybe he’s coming here after work again. He didn’t even want to think about Blaine asking Carole to bring it to him next day.
When she came home Kurt expected her to let Blaine in after herself or something but that didn’t happen. He was about to ask her what did Blaine say when his phone started to ring. Unknown number. Carole smiled and Kurt answered in a careful tone.
“Hello?”
“Hi! Kurt? It’s me Blaine! I hope I didn’t creep you out by asking Carole for your number.” He sounded tired and kind of sad.
“Hi, Blaine! No, no it’s fine.” Yes he just lost his excitement he built up since he found the wallet.
“I wanted to come over for my wallet tonight but I had a truly crappy day and I’m really tired and still have to drive home. Is there a chance that I can come by tomorrow morning?”
Yesssssss!!! Okay, calm down… “Sure, I’m home anyway it’s not a problem.” Fake calm voice mastered.
“Oh, awesome. I’ll be there at about 9.30.”
“Perfect.” Okay, so I’ll have to wake up at about 6.30…
“Okay. See you tomorrow. Bye!” And he hang up.
Having nothing better to do after dinner Kurt went back to his room, checked his messages and went to sleep not before setting his alarm to 6.30… no 6.20!
The morning was crazy to say at least. He carefully took a shower almost falling face first to the floor. Already 7.30… It took him at least an hour to choose what to wear, because yes that blazer looks amazing on him but Blaine would never believe that he would wear it just for home. Also his foot would never go through any pair of skin tight jeans without amputation.
He settled with a pair of dark yoga pants and a matching shirt witch shows just a little more of his shoulders than it should.
“Dude, you look like some sort of geisha-ninja.” A startled Finn stated from the kitchen counter with his eyes still half closed. It earned him a well-practiced bitch glare. Kurt floundered his way through the kitchen to pour himself a cup of coffee. Half a cup because there was no more left.
“Finn, seriously, what the hell are you doing with the coffee? I know you are not drinking it.” He leaned against the counter and tried to enjoy the few drops of coffee he had.
“I’d rather not talk about it.” Finn answered blushing. “I have to go little bro. See ya.” He left but obviously his plate and glass were still on the table. Kurt rolled his eyes and cleaned up after him when he heard a car pull up in front of the house. He looked out of the window and saw Blaine sitting there in the front seat. Kurt watched him for a few minutes waiting for him to ring the bell but the man didn’t even made any effort to get out of the car.
Kurt doddered to the door and looked into the peek-hole but Blaine was still just sitting in his car. Kurt waited a few more minutes and opened the door. He saw Blaine fixing his hair and in the rare view mirror. When he noticed Kurt’s presence he lowered his head and then shook it. He got out of the car with two coffees in his hands. He hurried up to the porch and stopped in front of the other boy, who was still smiling at him.
“Hi.” He said and pecked Kurt on the cheek. Kurt felt his whole body melt again and his cheeks flaring up. The older man was blushing, too and now was handing him one of the paper cups. “Sorry, I came too early. I brought coffee but it’s probably cold by now.”
“You don’t even know how much of a lifesaver you are.” Kurt said chuckling and thinking about the moment his 2 meters tall stepbrother blushed this morning. He stepped back inside and motioned for Blaine to do the same. Once the door was closed he realized he had nothing planned out. “Are you in a hurry?” He asked.
“No, not really. Actually my shift starts at 1 pm and have no plans until then. Do you?”
“No, me either. Come on in then, I was about to fix myself some breakfast. Did you eat yet?”
“No, I wanted to get here in time which I apparently overachieved.” He lowered his head and chuckled, nut telling Kurt that he was up for hours by now trying on many outfits, perfecting his hair and he was just incapable of sitting at home anymore. Even with going to the coffee shop and spending there long minutes trying to figure out what would Kurt like, and settling for a non-fat mocha, he got there more than half an hour earlier than he’s supposed to arrive.
And there they were in the kitchen both of them standing next to the stove making pancakes. They were too close again but they didn’t care anymore, because somehow it was just right. Smiles and glances exchanged, innocent accidental and some not so accidental arm brushes until they finished with the cooking. Kurt served juice and jam with the pancakes and they sat down at the table. At the same table they were sitting two days ago. It didn’t feel like two days for either of them. They felt strangely comfortable around each other talking about anything coming to their mind.
By noon, they were done with the breakfast and were through a whole lot of board games. It amused Kurt how Blaine, who’s supposed to be an adult, couldn’t loose. He made faces and acted like a child whenever Kurt won, and when the younger noticed this, he started to let him win on purpose. It turned out to be a good decision because watching Blaine clapping and squealing and dancing in his chair was the cutest thing Kurt has ever seen.
Blaine left Kurt on the porch not before pecking him on the cheek and telling him how amazing this morning was, and that they should spend time together again sometime soon.
That day Kurt wasn’t as bored as the day before. After finishing the homework he was sent by e-mail, he spent the afternoon watching romantic comedies and daydreaming about Blaine.
At 10.28 his phone buzzed with a text message.
From Blaine: Thank you for the breakfast. This morning was amazing. Good night. x - B
Kurt quickly answered and fell asleep with a big smile on his face.
From Kurt: You are very welcome. It was amazing to spend the morning with you. Good night Blaine. x - K
