Thank you for reading. Please review. =)
Saturday was hectic at the Hudson-Hummel house to say the least. Puck arrived in the morning with Mike who decided to tag along. Finn, who obviously didn’t have the time to pack the night before was running around the house to collect what he will need during the next 2 days, somehow still managed to make all coffee disappear again leaving Kurt furious.
After an hour of last minute packing and coming back twice from the car for forgotten items Finn, Puck and Mike finally left. Kurt only had time to make another pot of coffee and dress himself up in some better looking sweats when Mercedes, Rachel and Santana arrived.
Mercedes apologized for not coming sooner during the week, and so did Rachel, who appeared a few times at the house but spent most of those occasion buried under Finn is various ways. Santana stated that he was just simply bored when Kurt –or anyone else- didn’t seem to understand her presence.
“So you’re back in school on Monday. What’ve you been up to this week?” Mercedes asked with a little guilt for not being there to entertain him.
“I’ve been…” mooning over a guy I met at the hospital… “Fighting against boredom. Just the usual, homework, movies, books, sleeping… Nothing extra.” He said trying to act nonchalant.
“What about that guy I’ve met when I was… visiting Finn? Finn said he spent a lot of time here this week.” Rachel mentioned with a wink. “What was his name again?”
“Blaine. He is a friend of mine.” He offered.
“A friend we don’t know?” Suspicion awoke in Mercedes.
“We just met this week, he works at the hospital.”
“So Lady Hummel goes to the hospital, meets a guy and he invites him over to his house in more than one occasion when no one is supposed to be home. It may be just me but I sense blowjobs here.”
“Santana! No blowjobs, or any other kind of jobs for that matter. He just brought me home that day, and came back because he left his wallet here, and Carole invited him for dinner that wasn’t even me!”
“Finn said you seemed pretty cozy together.”
“Finn also said male ducks bark, and that is not true either.” Kurt snapped and even he realized that he just told them everything with his tone. “Let’s just forget about it. So how is the routine? Who did they put in my place?” He turned to Santana, to ask about the cheerios which is the perfect distraction from the topic.
“That guy… Paul, Matt, Dorian, I have no idea, but that guy has nothing in his pants I’m sure…” in her boredom she started to pace around the room and touch practically everything.
They continued talking for hours about what Kurt missed during the week and songs the glee club should cover.
“Your friend found something interesting in his closet. Pretty sure he’s referring to S&M toys…” Said Santana out of the blue.
“What?” Kurt asked confused. Santana showed him that she was playing with his phone. “Santana!” Kurt shrieked and tried to snatch his phone from her with no success.
“Why? He’s just a friend he must understand that you are into this kind of stuff” she said typing something. Kurt launched himself on her and took the phone away. Looking at his phone he quickly erased the words Santana typed in: I hope it has something to do with chains and leather bec…
“You are insane bitch!” He said and managed to sit down next to her. He sat on his phone but was unable to think about anything but the message Blaine sent, he desperately wanted to know what that was, so when the conversation turned back to safer topics he pulled his phone out to check it.
From Blaine: You won’t believe what I’ve just found in the bottom of my old closet!
From Kurt: Is it alive? Should I be afraid?
He had a huge smile on his face while reading Blaine’s text and answering. Santana just snorted and Mercedes suggested they should leave before Kurt set fire on Santana’s hair.
The moment he closed the door behind them he got a new message from Blaine. It was a picture of him posing in a way too small cheerleading uniform with a huge grin. Kurt laughed out loud and sent back a short text complimenting the green-brown-black uniform. Which looked silly but showed some muscles that were kept hidden from Kurt up until this time.
From Kurt: It goes perfectly with your eyes ;)
The rest of the afternoon was spent with anxious waiting. He already selected the perfect outfit for the competition which he desperately tried not to refer to as the date, the night before so after a quick shower and perfecting his face and hair he had nothing to do just sit and wait.
“Kurt! He is sitting in his car on the driveway!” Carole shouted from the hallway peeking through the hole. Kurt let out a small chuckle got up, gathered his stuff and left his room.
Blaine was doing the exact same thing that he was doing a few days before. He came 15 minutes earlier but stayed in his car waiting and checking on his wristwatch twice every minute.
“You look great! Have fun!” Said Carole as a goodbye and opened the door for him. When Blaine noticed he rushed up to the porch to ask him if he needed help and said hi to Carole. When they settled in the car Blaine turned to Kurt and pecked him on the cheek.
“I’m a bit early again, sorry.” He said lowering his head and smiling up at Kurt. “I checked the stadium online there is a small coffee shop nearby if you are interested.”
“I’m always interested in coffee. I’m shocked you didn’t come in your uniform.” Kurt mocked him.
“Yes, well I didn’t want them to be scared of me winning the whole thing on my own. But I brought my super cheerful mood and chants to cheer your team.” He said blinking through his long lashes.
The half an hour long drive was spent by Kurt going through Blaine’s playlists and singing along several songs together. When they got to the coffee shop Blaine insisted on buying them drinks and by now he automatically knew Kurt’s coffee order, which made the younger feel somehow special even if it was a seemingly small thing.
“I brought you an extra flag” said Kurt when they got to their seats in the stadium and Blaine made a face because everyone was wearing the colors of their team or had transparents, flags, anything…
Kurt gave him the small triangular flag with the school’s logo on it and Blaine’s face lit up immediately. Kurt laughed at him, and take two scarves out of his bag. “I know it’s not the typical scarf weather but…” Blaine took one of the McKinley scarves and tied it around Kurt’s neck neatly with a sheepish smile. Kurt looked at him asking for permission without words and when Blaine gave him a small nod he tied the other scarf around his neck taking a little more time than needed.
The competition was extremely fun and the McKinley Cheerios were the best by far. They cheered through the event and criticized the other teams. They had to wait for the results and were presented the weirdest pantomime-cheering production in the history.
“And the winner is… From McKinley High the CHEERIOS!” When the winner was announced they stood up, clapped their hand frantically turned and were almost jumping up and down screaming while hugging each other. When they came down from their highs they were still hugging and now were able to feel the other breathing on their faces. They looked deep into each other’s eyes for a long moment and moved even closer.
Kurt glanced down at Blaine’s slightly parted deliciously full lips and wet his own with his tongue. Blaine choose this exact moment to do the same and now they were locking eyes again and both leaned slightly closer.
Kurt could feel the heat of Blaine’s lips on his own and they both closed their eyes in unison. It was just the two of them in the center of the universe, they were both completely oblivious to their surroundings, the screaming and celebrating crowd, and Sue’s acceptance speech… since when do cheering coaches give acceptance speech anyway?
The perfect moment for a perfect first kiss. Or it would have been at least, because just before the perfect moment someone throw a stuffed animal to the girl standing next to Kurt who only managed to catch it by bumping into the couple. She apologized but the moment was over. After regaining their balances they let go of each other and went along the crowd to leave the stadium. They didn’t say a word on their way to the car. Blaine felt the urge to take Kurt’s hand and just managed to build up the courage when he realized both of Kurt’s hands were full holding the crutches. He settled for putting a hand on the small of the other boy’s back and they kept walking.
The drive back to Lima was also spent in silence with occasional glances at each other and constant smiling. At some point Blaine put his hand on Kurt’s and was terrified when the younger squirmed but he just adjusted his hand to be able to link their fingers together.
They were waiting at a red sign when Kurt broke the comfortable silence “Do you, maybe want to have another coffee or something?”
“Yes!” Blaine answered maybe a little too quickly, and slapped himself in his mind for showing his eagerness.
They stopped by another coffee-shop and bought coffee. Luck was on their side because they were just about to close because of some sort of technical problem. The barista gave them their coffees and also packed a box of cookies and cakes. “I hope you don’t mind taking it, I would be sorry to just throw it out tomorrow morning.” She said smiling and Blaine took the box and thanked her. They decided to sit down in the small park nearby because the weather was just perfect.
They sat there, drinking their coffees eating the cookies, occasionally feeding each other with a bite and just having fun. It was almost midnight when they realized it was late and got up to go back to the car. Blaine drove back to the house and helped Kurt out of the car. He walked him up to the porch, hugged him and pecked him on the cheek but neither of them let go after it.
They were standing there again lightly hugging each other and smiling at the other. Both of them knew what was coming and were both waiting for it for hours now ever since they left the stadium. They snuggled closer and let their foreheads touch. They were enjoying the moment with their eyes closed feeling the other and moving their mouths closer and closer.
In the very last minute the door opened and Burt was standing there with his back to them holding the doorknob. “I am going to find him!” He said to Carole furiously. The boys quickly broke apart and were standing there expecting the worse. They saw Carole smile in the hallway and motioning for Burt to turn around.
“Kurt! Do you have any idea… oh hi! He trailed off when he noticed Blaine.
“Hi Mr. Hummel, I’m Blaine Anderson.” He said politely and they shook hands.
“Hi Blaine, I heard a lot about you, do you want to come inside?”
“No sir, thank you for offering but it’s really late and I should head home.” He said knowing if he wants to stick around Kurt eventually he will have to meet Burt properly, too. “Good night sir, Carole.”
“Good night, Blaine.” They said together.
“Good night Kurt!” He said turning to him and lowering his voice. Kurt smiled down at him and pecked him on the cheek. “Good night!” He said and got into the house. Burt closed the door behind him and even though it was already midnight they spent hours talking and catching up on everything Burt missed while being away. Almost everything…
When Kurt went to bed he fell asleep with a sigh and a smile on his face. He was happier than ever.
