Author's Notes: please dont forget to rate and review. I really love reading your reactions. Good bad and ugly. I'm going to try to figure out a day that I can update on regularly but I have a job that I dont have cosistent hours so every week is different and that includes weekends, afternoons, mornings, midnights. All are shifts that I work. All work no play. That's me :)

Blaine walked in to work. He hadn't been in to work in almost a week. "Hey Hazel, what's up?"

"Nothing much. I think someone came in looking for you earlier; I don't know his name though. He couldn't remember your name but I think it was you." Blaine furrowed his eyebrows. This was odd. He didn't know many people in New York. He had only been in the city for a little less than two months. The only people he really knew were Wes, and he knew his name, people at work, and they would never ask for him, they barely looked at him when he was at work, and people at school, and no one there knew he worked here. "I told him that you were going to be in today. I think he might stop in later."

"Ok, thanks Haze. What time do you get off?"

She rolled her eyes. "Well I was supposed to get off when you came in but I'm here until at least 9 now. Tim came in and asked me to take inventory so he knows what he needs to order next week, so I guess I will be busy for the rest of the night doing that. Doesn't matter that I had plans to go out with my boyfriend for our anniversary," she said with much annoyance.

"Yep sounds like Tim. Don't worry you'll get out of here on time." Blaine gave her his signature optimistic smile.

She turned and started to walk into the back room with defeat and a shrug. Blaine turned around to a less than enthusiastic customer on the other side of the bar. Blaine was on actual barista duty tonight. He had worked and watched long enough that Dixie and Tim had decided that he was ready to be a 'drink artist,' Blaine hated that title. He was trying to be a real artist, not some fake title to make it sound more...artsy, for lack of a better word.

For a long while Blaine mindlessly took orders and steamed milk and blended coffee with ice and brewed fresh pots when they were starting to run low. At around 7:30, things had started to calm down in the shop. Blaine had just started to clean off the back counter that was ridden with dried coffee stain from the earlier dinner rush as Hazel came out of the back with a new stack of grande to-go cups. The bell over the front door to the small shop rang. "Hey, Blaine. That's the guy. That's the guy that asked about you earlier." Blaine turned around just in time to watch a stunning Kurt walk through the threshold of the store. His blue eyes were sparkling in the early evening light.

Kurt had asked about him? That meant Kurt wanted to see him again, right? Blaine tried to hide the smile from his new realization. Maybe fate had brought them together after all.

Blaine could feel his heart start to race and his cheeks start to flush with anticipation of the stunning man's arrival in front of him. Kurt stopped just in front of the counter that separated Blaine from the gorgeous guy. Kurt flashed a brilliant smile that sent Blaine's heart plummeting to his stomach. "Welcome to A Whole Latte Love. How can I help you?" Blaine ran through the scripted monologue that he had become use to saying with all the customers. It was different this time though. This time he couldn't stop beaming from ear to ear. He probably looked too eager. He needed to dial it back. He looked at the ground trying to pull back the grin a bit.

"Hey stranger. How have you been?" Kurt looked at Blaine with a certain glint in his eyes.

"I've been good. Busy. How about you?"

"Fine. Busy too."

Two other customers had now gathered behind the tall, slender man. "Can I get you coffee?"

"Yes please. I have so much work I need to run through. I'll probably be here all night." Blaine hoped that was a promise and not just some statement. "I'll have a gra..."

"Grande nonfat mocha?" Blaine finished Kurt's thought.

Kurt looked right at Blaine with a quizzical smile, "You remembered my coffee order?"

All Blaine could do from exploding with joy was give (what he hoped looked like) a nonchalant shrug and a noncommittal smile before his eyes darted to the ground below. "That will be right up." Kurt gave one last grin toward Blaine as he slid his body down the long counter, digging his wallet out of his messenger bag, trying to get his money out. Blaine quickly made his way to the tall, slinky girl behind the register before Kurt could get out the cash. He leaned over to Kat, "This next one is on me," and Blaine disappeared behind the machines concocting what he hoped to be the most spectacular mocha anyone had ever tasted and the best he had certainly ever made. Once he was done he appeared in front of Kurt dropping off the mocha in front of him with a quick flash of a smile before whipping through the other drinks orders that had come in.

Kurt went and sat at a high top table against the wall, making sure to take the seat that faced the counter. He told himself it wasn't because he wanted to watch the clumsy, curly headed boy behind the counter but for some reason he could never take his eyes off of him for long.

Blaine had bought him the coffee. The girl behind the register had just said that it was on the house and nothing more. Kurt's cheeks had flushed as he thanked her and walked to a nearby table. He needed to remember to thank Blaine later for the coffee, which had turned out to be the best damn cup of coffee he had ever tasted. Blaine had obviously taken his time making the coffee to make sure it was perfect just for Kurt.

Kurt would study his lines (or try to) before catching Blaine staring in his direction with these puppy dog eyes that just made Kurt's heart melt or he would catch a glimpse of Blaine laughing with a customer or another employee but the thing was, Kurt just caught himself staring at Blaine moving behind the counter, restocking cups and napkins or wiping down the machines and counters with a rag. Every once in a while their eyes would meet and they would both just stared at each other with a small smile or a quick glance before they both averted their gaze away swiftly as they stared across the crowded coffee shop as if they were the only two in the room.

The night seemed to fly by at a tremendously rapid speed. Kurt knew that the shop closed earlier on Wednesday for whatever reason so the other patrons in the shop had started to dissipate sometime around 8:30 or so. Blaine was clearly rushing through his nightly duties restocking and cleaning up the workspace even though the shop closed in an hour and a half and Blaine had plenty of time to finish.

Kurt decided that he should really study, having studied nothing al night but Blaine's incredibly sculpted back muscles every time he reached for the cups on the top shelf in the cupboard lining the back wall behind the counter. Kurt only got another half hour of studying in or at least that's what he was telling himself. Not looking at Blaine was worse. It only made him wonder what Blaine was doing. He had read over the same three lines for at least twenty minutes.

The only two employees left were Blaine and Hazel. Kurt could hear a faint conversation between the two where Blaine told Hazel to go home to her boyfriend, and that she wasn't needed here anymore and that he would finish. Kurt could hear Blaine's air escape his lungs, meaning she had probably thrown herself into a big bear hug. He also heard many 'thank yous' and a faint whisper of Blaine saying something about wanting to hear all about the night's festivities later.

Several minutes later Kurt was startled out of his thoughts when a grande to-go cup was set down in front of him and a medium to-go coffee cup was set down at the chair opposite him. He looked up to find a grinning Blaine. "Is this seat open?" Kurt gestured for Blaine to sit at the chair that faced him. Kurt closed the book that he was 'carefully' studying. "You looked like you could use another mocha."

"Thanks. Aren't you supposed to be working?" Kurt looked at Blaine not exactly disappointed that he had neglected his duties and had instead decided to sit with him. Kurt looked around to an empty shop. "What happened? Are you closed? Do I need to go?" Kurt asked starting to grab all of his things.

Blaine chuckled and put his hand on Kurt's to slow him. 'No. You are just the only one left."

"I don't want to keep you from working though."

"You're not. I have everything done for now and if someone comes in then I will take care of them but until then, I want to sit here and be with you." Blaine gave a warm smile and grabbed Kurt's hand from across the table as he started to run his thumb on Kurt's only momentarily. Kurt yanked his hand out of Blaine's. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to..."

"No. It's fine. I um...I kind of just got out of a serious relationship that ended any way but pleasantly."
"Oh. I'm um...I'm sorry. I just..."
"No! It's fine. I actually want this. Us I mean. Is that weird to say? I haven't been able to stop thinking about you since that night that you walked me home." Kurt started to rub his hands together nervously while crinkling his nose and biting his lower lip in a way that Blaine thought was way hot.

"Me neither. You, I mean. I haven't been able to stop thing about you."

"I want to see where this goes. I like you, or at least I think I like you."

"Good, because I like you too, or at least I think I do." Blaine said mockingly.

Kurt giggled. "I want to take this slow though. Whatever it is. I don't exactly have an easy time trusting people, especially not now but I want to get to know you."

"I'd like that. Slow is good. I'm fine with slow." Blaine propped up his head with his fist smashing into his adorably tanned cheek.

"Good." Both just sat there staring at each other for several seconds. "Thanks for the coffee by the way. It was delicious."

"Good," Blaine subconsciously took a sip of his own coffee. "I'm glad you like it."

Kurt took a sip of his coffee. "So...in an attempt to get to know you better, tell me something about yourself."

Blaine laughed nervously. "Like what?"

"Well, I know that you are a painter. How is that going?"

"I don't paint as much anymore as I use to now that I started school."

"Wait, I thought that's what you were in school for." Kurt gave a quizzical look.

"Well I'm a good painter but I am an incredible photographer."

"Not possible."

"Possible. My art teacher in high school said I had clear natural talent. I never really had the greatest home life," Kurt wanted to know more about that but figured it was a sore subject and he should probably avoid it for the time being, "but when I was with my friends and taking pictures is when I was most happy. I would take pictures and then sneak around in the middle of the night to develop them." Blaine laughed looking down into his open palms. "I learned most of what I know now from the Internet. It was always a hobby to me. I never thought I could make it a career...that is until you." Blaine finally looked up to meet Kurt's eyes. "Because of you I applied to NYU as a photography and imaging major."

Kurt smiled. "Well your welcome." They both laughed. "The only other thing that I know is that you work here. How is that going for you?"

Blaine rolled his eyes. "Not my scene but it is helping pay the rent so I do what I have to do."

Kurt laughed silently to himself. "I haven't seen you around here lately. Where have you been?"

"This doesn't exactly strike me as your scene either. Kurt Hummel, have you been coming here in hopes of see me?" Blaine said the last part in mocking shock.

Kurt's cheeks blushed. Just as Kurt opened his mouth to say something an indy looking couple walked through the door. Blaine reached over to grab Kurt's hand. "I'll be right back." He gave Kurt's hand a slight squeeze and got up from the table to move behind the counter. Kurt made sure to watch every movement that Blaine made, moving around with such ease and finesse. Blaine must have sensed Kurt's eyes on him because he looked over in the direction of Kurt giving a sly grin and a wink while he hovered over the espresso machine. Kurt's heart started to race and his cheeks turned an embarrassing shade of red that he was sure Blaine could see all the way across the shop. When the couple left with their to-go cups in hand Blaine made his way back over to Kurt's table.

Kurt looked at the time. It was starting to get late. He stood up. " I should probably get going. You have to work and I need to get some homework done. Someone was highly distracting tonight." He walked over close to Blaine, invading what could be considered his personal space. He grabbed his hands in his own. "I just wanted to tell you that I had a really good time." They both looked down at their intertwined fingers. "What are you doing this Friday?"
Blaine looked back up to Kurt's eyes with a crooked grin. "Taking you out on our first official date...is that ok? I mean I don't want to move to fast if..."

"No! I would like that."

"Good because I..." Blaine's excitement turned quickly to disappointment. He let out a heavy sigh. "This Friday?"

Kurt looked at his worriedly. "Yeah. Is something wrong?"

"Well kind of. You asked me why I haven't been around here lately? I got another job that pays very little but I make ten times what I make here in tips alone. You know that lavish little Italian restaurant, Amore e Cibo Resturante? I am the new piano player. So I haven't been here as much. Anyways, I have to work there on Friday until 9pm." Blaine's head fell in defeat.

"That's ok." Blaine's eyes popped up to meet Kurt's face with eagerness of what is to come. "I will just make a reservation for one and when you're done, we can go on that date."

"Are you sure I mean you don't have to..."

"Blaine."

"It's just that I couldn't ask you to..."

"Blaine."

"I mean I really want you to..."

"Blaine!"

"I don't want you to find it boring while I just..." He clearly wasn't getting it. Kurt had to take matters into his own hands. Kurt let go of Blaine's hand and placed one on each of his cheeks. He planted a quick peck right on Blaine's mouth. Not in a physical need kind of way but more of a way to shut him up. Once the two boys' lips touched though there was somewhat of an electric shock that scared Kurt. Not in a bad way though but surprising none the less.

"I said it was ok. I want to. If I have to wait until 11 for you to go on our date I will. I'm going to leave now." Kurt took one of Blaine's hands again and gave it a squeeze and he planted another quick kiss onto Blaine's cheek. "I'll see you Friday, 8pm sharp, guaranteed," and with that Kurt was gone out the door. He could see Blaine walk back behind the counter as he walked passed the window front. Blaine had a huge smile plastered on his face.

Yep, Blaine was definitely gay. He couldn't wait to get home and tell Rachel all about the events of the night. The entire walk home was spent grinning incessantly. He burst through the front door scaring Rachel who was casually pacing the floor running through the monologue that she needed to learn by tomorrow. "Oh my god Kurt, you scared the living shit out of me."

"I'm sorry."

"Where have you been practically all night?"

"I went out for some coffee."

"Mhmm. All the way on the other side of town? Kurt I think we need to give up on the idea of this guy reappearing."

"Well, all the waiting paid off. He was there and I have a date with him this Friday."

"Kurt Oh my god!" She threw her arms around Kurt. "That is amazing. I am so happy for you."

Rachel picked up the cup that Kurt had brought home from the small café and took a couple of sips (a timed honored tradition between them) as Kurt went on about Blaine. After about twenty minutes of Kurt talking, well more like giggling, over Blaine Kurt ended with, "I just wished he had given me his number. I don't know if I can wait until Friday to talk to him again."

"What are you talking about? Who's number is this then?" Kurt ripped the cup right out of Rachel's hands. There in what Kurt had known as Blaine's handwriting was:

555-4290

Can't wait to see you again :)

Kurt immediately grabbed his phone and sent out a text.

K: Pretty clever what you did there

B: I thought so ;)

K: Well...now what

B: Now I have your number and I intend to take full advantage of this

K: Me too :)

Kurt sat back and smiled reveling in the night that had gone by oh too quickly but he was looking forward to Friday night and he had just the outfit for the occasion.
