“I can’t believe you convinced me to do this” Kurt said to Karofsky as they got out of his Navigator and headed to the entrance of “Scandals”.
“Relax, Kurt, tonight’s going to be fun.” Karofsky replied, rolling his eyes a little at his friends' nerves.
Kurt didn’t know what he expected when he showed his fake ID to the scruffy, greasy haired man at the entrance, but Scandals was definitely nothing that his imagination could have conjured up.
There were gay men everywhere –obviously– most were in the center
of the room, grinding and rocking together in one big clump to the music.
The air was heavy with cologne and sweat, the scent filling Kurt’s lungs as he took (what was meant to be) a steadying deep breath. He was nervous. Of course he was, he’d never even set foot in a gay bar before, so he didn’t really know what to expect. He was most scared of spotting someone he knew in here, maybe a cluster of the jocks who liked to pick on Kurt would turn up soon, half expecting to see somebody gay who they could harass. His life would be hell if they found out where he was, but the thought of what they might do to him with the knowledge sent a shiver up his spine, and so he pushed it to the back of his mind and followed Karofsky to the bar.
Dave ordered them drinks as Kurt let his eyes flick around the room, taking in the two men pressed up against the wall, looking hot and sweaty as they blindly kissed each other, their hips rocking slightly to the music.
“Here, drink this so that we can dance.” Dave said, forcing a Shirley temple into his hand. Kurt looked down at it, following the floating cherry in the liquid for far too long. “Would you stop looking so gloomy, Kurt? Nobody from your school knows your here, and they’re not going to turn up and spot you anyway.” Kurt always hated and loved the fact that Dave knew exactly what was going through his head, sometimes it was a blessing to have a friend like him, but other times it was a curse. “You might even meet someone, you never know until you try.” Dave added, bumping his shoulder with Kurt’s in an attempt to get him to smile.
Kurt’s eyes met with someone across the bar, his eyes dark and mysterious, tongue gliding over his lips sensually. Kurt almost choked on his saliva in shock, bringing the glass to his lips to take some gulps, just for something to do other than stare into that mans eyes.
“Let’s dance” Kurt said, putting his glass down and grabbing Dave’s hand. He needed to get away from the bar, away from that stranger who was way too old for him, but still had Kurt’s stomach doing somersaults with just a look.
A new song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Vj092UgKwQ) came on just as they stepped up to the dance floor, and Kurt instantly fell into the dancing, wiggling his shoulders and rocking from side to side with David. It felt...nice, just being here with everybody, not a single person caring what he looked like when he danced, guys pressing against him and moving with his body. Kurt felt so at home here on the dance floor, especially surrounded by people who were exactly like him. When the song was over Dave caught the eye of a brunette across the room, and soon he was excusing himself and walking over to talk to the man.
Three men all rushed to take Dave’s place in front of Kurt, all of them crowding round him, and for a second Kurt began to panic, but then one of his favorite songs (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHYb3GRgSWI) came on, and he just giggled to himself as he began to move with the strangers, letting himself go completely. Soon he was firmly wedged between two guys, mind hazy and all conscience lost. The guy behind him had his hands on Kurt’s hips, squeezing too hard and he ground against him, and the guy in front of him had his arms around Kurt’s neck, crowding his personal space and filling the air with the scent of expensive cologne mixed with sweat.
Kurt could barely breath when the song was finished, both men whispering things in his ear, come to the bar with me?, why don’t we go back to my place?. Kurt couldn’t answer, could barely breath. He let himself be pulled towards the bar, his eyes opening (even though he couldn't remember shutting them) and scanning the room. He heard the gasp fall from his lips before he’d fully processed what it meant; over in the corner was none other than Blaine Anderson, taking gulps from his beer as he chatted to a few men who seemed to be very interested in him. Oh shit.
What in God’s name was Blaine doing here?! Was he lost? If he was lost why did he look so relaxed? Did Rachel know he was here? In the only gay bay in Lima?
Kurt’s feet were moving before he could stop them, his eyes wide as he headed towards Blaine. Kurt didn’t even hear the man shouting from him at the bar, calling him back over, asking why he was leaving.
Blaine turned when Kurt got three or four steps away, his eyebrows rising in panic as he registered just who had found him here.
Comments
This was awesome. I like the idea of Kurt and Karofsky being friends. I can't wait to see how Blaine reacts to Kurt seeing him. Looking forward to reading chapter 6.
