Author's Notes:

THE END!

Right, I just want to thank every single one of you who stuck with me and read until the end of this story.

I know Ive not made it easy with me not updating as regularly as I had hoped and promised to. Life has been more hectic than I had anticipated but nevertheless thank you for sticking with me and reading this story;

I hope you lot know that I really appreciate it and that I loved every single comment or advise regarding my story.

I cant say when my next story will be posted. All I know is that I do have another idea (a few even, some more workable than others) playing on my mind and that I am hoping to be able to write and post it but when that will be is a mystery as I am also trying to work edit my nanonovel, write my very own novel and try to figure out my new klaine plot.

Until then Ill just shamelessly point out that Ive posted a few other stories on here (some better than others) and if you want you can always check those out.

But for now, I shall say goodbye and thank you all for being amazing and lovely readers. It has been a pleasure!

Epilogue:

“Coop!”
“Tess, hi. How's he doing?” Cooper asked, worried. Seeing Blaine's nurse so distraught answered that question in a way already.

“I gave his last dose. He hasn't got long left.” She said sadly, “I'm sorry.”

“No, thank you for everything.” He wanted to hug her but felt it to be inappropriate so he just touched her arm lightly before making his way to Blaine's room.

“Hey little brother.” Cooper's voice was quiet and sad, but he still smiled at Blaine when he entered.

“Coop.” Blaine breathed heavily, needing an incredible amount of strength to even put on the small smile he gave his big brother.

“How're you doing?” Cooper asked him more out of habit than really wanting to know, considering the situation.
“Just peachy.” Blaine coughed, the sound made Cooper cringe. He pushed back his tears, knowing he had to stay strong for his brother.
“I heard you sent Kurt away?” Cooper asked concerned, “why?”
“He shouldn't see me like this. I want him to remember me when I was better,  not like this.”

“This is really it, isn't it?” Cooper asked sadly, biting his lip. He knew the answer even before Blaine nodded, never before had he seen his brother this pale and ill-looking before. It seemed as if all the life had drained out of him, like a painting after the rain had washed off all its colour. He swallowed roughly and moved towards Blaine. It wasn't supposed to be like this, it was never supposed to be like this. You shouldn't see your younger brother die before you, just like his parents shouldn't have to be saying goodbye to their son before he even had had the chance to properly live his life. None of it seemed fair and yet Blaine seemed to be at peace. He climbed in the bed with Blaine and held onto his little brother, like he used to do when they were kids and he read him a bedtime story. “You didn't have to send Kurt away, Blaine.” He mumbled.

“I did. I've already burdened him enough.” Blaine sighed.

“Blaine, he loves you.”

“And I love him. That's why I did it. I hate myself for doing this to him. I hate myself for giving him this poisoned present of the thought of a future that never would have been.” And even though Blaine's breathing was shallow and his words were sometimes slurred, he seemed to be convinced of every word he said.

Cooper didn't know what to say, he wanted to tell Blaine that he had given Kurt the most beautiful present of all; his love, and that nothing could take that away. He wanted to tell him that everything would be okay. He wanted to say anything that would make the situation better. He ended up saying, “You've made Kurt's life better by being in it, Blaine. No matter how short it might have been. Get that in that afro head of yours.”  and ruffled Blaine's hair.

“Screw you.”

Cooper was alarmed by how quiet the words came out, he knew it would only be a matter of time before Blaine's body shut down completely but he needed his brother for at least that little while longer.

“Can you do something for me?”

“Anything.”

“I wrote Kurt a letter. I need you to give that to him.”

“Of course. No problem.”

“And my books. I need you to give him my Harry Potter books. Promise me?”

“I promise.” Blaine smiled. Feeling his own walls come crumbling down, his next words came out more a whisper and he worried that maybe Blaine wouldnt hear him. "Im going to miss you Blainey". Blaine climbed closer into Coopers embrace and hugged his brother tightly. They talked a little more about memories they had shared at better times. Times where the two of them were still little and Blaine had still been healthy. Times where Cooper and Blaine had changed the sugar for salt, or when they had raced down the park on their bikes, or when they had had an ice-cream eating contest and then they both had puked. Blaine told Cooper about Kurt, about the little things he loved about Kurt and the more obvious ones. He asked Cooper questions about their parents and about his trips to L.A..  Eventually they just lay there quietly and Blaine felt grateful he had asked Tess to turn off the monitor, glad there was no constant reminder of his heart rate going slower and slower. "Coop, do you think it hurts?" Blaine mumbled, "dying?"

Cooper swallowed and could feel his eyes sting. Despite his efforts to stay strong his voice broke when he replied, "Its just like falling asleep."

"Will you stay?" Blaine asked, looking up into Coopers eyes. Cooper thought of how Blaine had sent Kurt away and how he had requested his parents to come and see him yesterday, and felt his heart shatter knowing Blaine wanted him to be there until the end. He stroked Blaines hair and kissed the top of his head, "Of course."

Blaine smiled and closed his eyes for a moment, feeling so exhausted that he wanted to fall asleep, he wanted to finally be at peace. But he couldnt, not yet, he wanted to give Cooper more time with him, their time together had already been cut short, he owed this to his big brother.
Part of him had also wanted Kurt to be here but a bigger and stronger part couldnt bear knowing Kurt would be hurting. It was the only reason he had managed to say goodbye to Kurt and had asked him to go home, different than it had been with his parents. Of course Blaine loved his parents and he had missed them more than he could possibly tell, but even though they had always done their best to make sure Blaine was alright, they had been missing from his life the moment he had taken his own decisions. It was Cooper who had always been there, Cooper who had been there from the beginning and Cooper who would be here until the end. It was Cooper, and Cooper only, who he felt was suited for that role. "Coop?" his eyes were still closed and he could hear Cooper let out a relieved sigh, as if his brother had been scared that at some point in the silence he had passed away already.
"Mhm."
"You know how kids always look up at their dad and have him as their role model? How they strive to be just like them? There might have been a time for me when that was dad, but it hasnt been for a long time. No, Coop, it has always been you."
Blaine could hear Cooper sniff loudly and he knew that at that moment, the wall Cooper had put up to try and stay strong had finally broken, he could feel Coopers tears fall on his face, he could smell the salty scent, could hear Coops soft sobs and could feel the moving of his chest with every gulp of breath he took in. "Blaine, you-cant-I-mean-you need to fight, little brother. You-you."
Blaine felt his body get heavier and was struggling to speak but he used the last bit of energy and strength he had left in him and squeezed his brothers hand, "Coop. Please," Blaine breathed heavily, he was running out of air.
"I love you little brother." Cooper cried, panic overtaking him, holding tightly onto Blaine and feeling how slowly but steadily the last bit of life left Blaines body. Had Cooper not been so close to Blaine, he wouldnt even have been able to hear the last words that left Blaines lips. "Let me fall asleep."
