The moment Kurt opened his eyes, he instantly regretted it. The pain ran through his face as the previous incident ran through his mind. He slowly sat up in the bed, feeling dizzy and pained. He got out of the bed and went to look in the mirror and winced at the sight. The whole of his right face was swollen and blotchy, the left side wasn’t swollen but he could see the dried blood on his cheek, he looked horrendous. Then he remembered. Blaine. Blaine saw him like this, he hoped the swelling formed while he was asleep and not while Blaine was around to see.
He made his way out of the room into the living room where he saw someone sitting in the dark in the living room using their phone.
“Blaine?” He called, regretting it, because he still did not want Blaine seeing him like this.
“Not Blaine, sorry.” Wes said without turning to look at Kurt, for which Kurt was somewhat grateful. He didn’t consider himself vain, but he just couldn’t let anyone see him like this.
“What happened?” Kurt spoke, wincing at the pain.
“Your boyfriend.” Wes said, turning around, “He was pretty drunk and was furious when you wouldn’t take him back, so he decided to use your face as a punching bag.
“Oh.” Kurt said, remembering, “Where’s Blaine?”
“Jail.” Wes deadpanned.
“WHAT?” Kurt half yelled, feeling the pain. Why is he in jail?”
“Because,” Wes said, as he stood up to go into the kitchen, Kurt followed, “He didn’t appreciate your boyfriend’s-“
“Ex.” Kurt corrected.
“Ex-boyfriend’s new use of your face. He beat him up, pretty badly, I’ve never seen Blaine so mad before. Someone called the cops, they booked took him and Jake in for questioning.”
It took Kurt some time to process what he was just told. Blaine was in jail, because he was defending Kurt, he knew he should feel awful for being the reason Blaine was in jail, but he couldn’t help feel flattered than Blaine would defend him to such lengths.” He was brought back to reality by the chiming of Wes’ phone.
“Oh look, he’s being released, I’m gonna go get him. Wanna come?”
“Looking like this? No, I’ll stay here I think.”
Wes shrugged, grabbed his keys and left. Kurt went to the bathroom to see what he could do with his face before Blaine came home. After half hour of trying to do something with his face, his only accomplishment was getting the dried blood off his face, when he heard the door opening and muffled voices.
“Should’ve killed him.” He heard Blaine whisper sharply.
“Then you would have actually been arrested.” Wes reasoned
“Worth it.” Blaine replied.
Kurt’s heart sped up when he heard Blaine’s voice getting closer.
“Where’s he?” Blaine said, voice softer.
“I left him in the kitchen.”
“He woke up? Must be in pain.”
“He’s probably hiding, he doesn’t want you to see him like that.”
“I don’t care how he looks, I have to make sure he’s okay.”
Kurt smiled to himself at that.
“Kurt?” Blaine whispered.
Kurt hesitated before answering, “here”
Blaine found him sitting on the toilet, with a bloody hand towel in his hand.
“Oh Kurt, are you okay?” Blaine rushed towards him, taking the towel and going to wet it.
“I’ll be… elsewhere.” Wes said.
“Apart from the horrible pain and the fact that I look like God knows what, I’m fine.”
Kurt studied Blaine. For someone who allegedly got into a fight, his face was pretty clear with nothing more than a scratch on his cheek. Kurt jumped when Blaine pressed the cool towel to his swollen cheek.
“I heard you got into a little fight tonight.” Blaine whispered, a slight smirk on his face.
“I heard you did too, so why is it that I look like the picture of death and you still look flawless?”
“Because I,” Blaine started, moving the towel to Kurt’s eye, “know how to fight.”
“I ask again. Is there anything you can’t do?”
“I guess not.”
“Didn’t think so” Kurt murmured.
The room fell quiet, Blaine’s eyes piercing into Kurt’s, searching for… something. Kurt wanted to give him whatever it is those hazel eyes were searching so intensely for. Blaine inched closer, waiting. Kurt’s heart sped up, beating so loud he was sure Blaine could hear it.
“BLAINE! PHONE!” Wes yelled from…elsewhere.
Blaine didn’t move, he smiled slightly, “One of these days, I may just have to kill him.” Blaine returned Kurt’s personal space to him and went over the medical cabinet and returned with bandages and creams of all sorts.
“Don’t tell me you’re a nurse too.” Kurt feigned surprise.
Blaine rolled his eyes, and chuckled, “If only you were so lucky.”
In the next few minutes, Kurt’s eye was bandage and cream was applied to his split lip, pumped up with painkillers at Blaine’s pouted lip request and back in bed.
“Sing me a lullaby?” Kurt asked, painkillers taking over.
Blaine smiled, “sure”
“Yay!” Kurt sat up in bed, ignoring the dizziness he was feeling.
Blaine grabbed his guitar and sat at the edge of the bed and began to play a soft tune. Kurt was out in seconds. Blaine stopped playing, returned his guitar to its stand and kissed Kurt on his forehead before turning out the lights and closing the door.
Blaine returned to the kitchen, to get himself a cup of coffee, he couldn’t sleep, he was pumped up on adrenaline, he didn’t need the coffee, he just wanted something to do.
“You’re so in love.” Wes chimed from the kitchen doorway.
“Hopelessly”
We gasped.
“What?” Blaine asked.
“You admitted it! Usually it’d take like… a month to get it out of you.”
Blaine shrugged his shoulders, “I’m too tired to lie to you Wes.”
“Why don’t you tell him?”
“Well, because, you know…” Blaine tried to find a reason, “Oh I don’t know!”
“You’re just scared”
“Of what exactly.”
“Rejection.
“When did you become Dr. Phil?”
“I got my Dr. Phil certification online just now, if you must know.”
“That doesn’t make any sense.”
“Neither does not telling him you love him, when clearly he feels the same.”
“Well what do you want me to say? Oh Kurt, good morning, would you like some coffee with your toast oh by the way I love you, how ‘bout that coffee? And how do you know he feels the same?”
“If you do that you may just scare him off you creep and Rachel, it’s not that hard to tell either, the way he looks at you.”
Blaine groaned.
“What do I do?”
“Ask him out” Wes said simply.
“On a date? I can’t”
“Why”
“Because-“
“Oh don’t try to make any excuses for your scaredy catness”
“You need a new vocabulary”
“And you need a boyfriend.”
“I’m fine.”
“Keep lying to yourself buddy.” Wes said before he turned and walked out of the room.
Blaine leaned on the kitchen counter and sipped his coffee. Wes was right. What did he have to lose anyway?
He decided. Kurt Hummel. You and I are going on a date. A real date.
Comments
This chapter was really good. It was nice to see that Blaine defended Kurt by taking care of the ex. I found Wes to be hilarious in this and I love that he was trying to get Blaine to admit his feelings to Kurt. I can't wait to see what happens next and to see if they end up on a real date.
Hooray for another chapter..thank you!! I loved it! Blaine kicked ass for Kurt! You will have to let's know if Jake survived!! ;) Have a good night..
