CHAPTER 23
Kurt returned home a few hours later with a smile on his face. His heart felt lighter and his mind was in a complete different place. Just talking to Blaine made him like another person, or most probably, he could be himself with him.
It was still early but Kurt started getting ready. He took a nice, long bath and went over to his dresser. He was very careful picking out his clothes because he knew that this was an important occasion and he had to look nice. Blaine had seen him this morning with his pajamas on and he couldn't afford looking like a hot mess again in front of Blaine. When he had finally had chosen his clothes he noticed he had spent a lot of time getting ready and he only had to wait a couple of hours more, so he went to his balcony and sat down on his chair to read a bit. Hours went by like minutes and suddenly it was time for Kurt to leave to the factory.
Once Kurt arrived to the factory he realized how stupid he was... The factory was about two minutes away from his house and he had come all the way to the factory. But he would do anything for Blaine so he really didn't care what he did.
Schindler was waiting for him on the gates of the factory, looking as fancy as ever.
"Kurt. How are you?" Schindler asked in a monotone voice while he extended his hand towards Kurt.
Kurt knew this was his business voice. He didn't use this kind of voice with Kurt, at least not anymore.
"I'm doing pretty good Oskar. It's nice to see you again." Kurt replied, as serious as he could be while anticipation ran through his body.
But he wasn't hiding it as well as he would've wanted to if the barely there smirk that Schindler was throwing his way was any indication.
"You too, you too." Schindler answered, and yeah, there was the amused tone in his voice. "Come on in. Let's go to my office and we should have a chat over there."
"Sure, lead the way."
They both entered the factory and went up the stairs that led to Oskar's office. This was a place where he could freely talk to Oskar without reservations. He now knew he could tell Oskar anything, he had been the first person who had known Kurt was in love with Blaine after all.
He sat down at the love seat while Oskar took a seat on the arm chair in front of him.
"Would you like something to drink?" Oskar asked as he stood up and went over to a small counter on the side of the room.
"No, thank you. I'm fine." Kurt replied with a smile as Oskar turned back and served himself a scotch. He returned to his seat and smiled at Kurt.
"So... are you as excited as I think you are?" Oh god, he was smirking.
Oh well fuck it. What's the point in hiding what he was feeling anymore.
"I think I might even be more excited than what you think I am."
At that Oskar let out a laugh. He just couldn't believe how a boy like Kurt had fallen in love with a boy like Blaine; they were from two completely different worlds. He was going to know when he met this Blaine kid.
"So are you ready to go and get your little boyfriend out of that horrible camp?"
Kurt blushed deeply and looked down and muttered "He's not my boyfriend, but yes."
And Schindler just had to laugh again.

"Okay, so you're staying here behind the trees while I go and pick them up and then we can take them to the house. Does that sound okay for you?" They were standing in the middle of the forest and a few feet away from the entrance gates of the camp. He could hear and see everything from where he was.
Kurt could only nod. The nerves were eating him alive. He couldn't wait to hug Blaine. Blaine, his best friend, the person he was in love with was finally getting out of his biggest nightmare.
Schindler smiled and started walking away. Kurt felt useless. He was just standing there, he was not able to do anything.
When Schindler arrived at the gates Kurt could hear what he was saying perfectly.
"Hello gentlemen. I am here to pick up four of your prisoners." Oskar's voice was calm, steady and confident but Kurt could see the frowns on the two soldiers' faces.
"Excuse me? Sir, no one is allowed to take prisoners from here." One of them said coldly but firmly.
"Oh but I am. I already made an agreement with one of your commanders."
The soldiers looked surprised and asked for a name and Oskar said the name confidently. One of the soldiers walked away in search of the commandeer while the other one stayed with Oskar in a tight and uncomfortable silence.
Once the other soldier came back, he motioned Oskar with his head and he led him to the middle a big open space. There were two rows of people one with the women and one with the men.
Oskar stood in the middle along two soldiers. One of the soldiers stood forward and said "If I call your name you will immediately stand forward."
The people looked nervous. He couldn't begin to imagine why. They were probably terrified of what these people could do to them; Kurt felt sick to his stomach.
Suddenly the soldier started saying the names out loud.
" Aaron Anderson, step forward." A man in maybe his late forties stood forward. He held his head high but Kurt could see just how nervous he was. A small cry came from the women's line. A woman, also her late forties, was trying hard to keep his sobs at bay. Kurt figures this was Blaine's mother.
"Deborah Anderson, step forward." At this she couldn't keep her sobs away. She started sobbing and crying out loud but she stood forward anyways.
"Blaine Anderson, step forward." When Deborah heard her son's name being called she let out a small "no". Kurt's heart was breaking because the only one in the family that knew what was happening was Blaine and he obviously wasn't looking as nervous as his parents.
"Evelyn Anderson, step forward." Deborah let out a desperate "NO!" But nobody seemed to come forward. There was no sign of the little girl.
"Evelyn Anderson." The soldier repeated.
Blaine let out a loud "Evelyn?"
And that's when they all heard it. A shout of "BLAINEY!"
The crowd dispersed and the "tower" was in full view.
Kurt was the first to see her. There was Evelyn stuck between too many people on their way to the gas chambers.
Another shout of "HELP!" resounded through the forest and that's when Kurt took of running towards the camp, towards that little girl.
