CHAPTER 22
The day had finally come. Blaine could not stand still. He was lightly and subtly bouncing on his tippy toes. He was trying so hard not to smile. He had had barely a few minutes of sleep but he didn't feel tired, he couldn't feel tired. He could not stop thinking about how his new life would be like. He would have a different life. He was going to be outside this hell and he was going to have a new and better life. And all because of Kurt. Sweet and wonderful and handsome and so unavailable Kurt.
Kurt obviously couldn't be like him. Blaine was abnormal, he was a freak, he was different and Kurt was just perfect, he couldn't have any flaw. And even if Kurt was like him, even if Kurt was a... a homosexual he could never be interested in Blaine. Blaine was flawed and too skinny and beaten up and tired and ugly. And a guy as perfect as Kurt could never look his way. Blaine knew he was approaching dangerous territory. He was falling for Kurt, and he was falling fast. It was funny, really, to be thinking about love while he was in a situation such as the one he was at. But he couldn't help it. Kurt made him feel safe. Whenever he was with Kurt all his problems and his worries and his troubles, they all flowed away. It was as if Kurt was a magical creature that could take away all the pain and the fear. Kurt was amazing and the fact that Evelyn loved him was even better. But, as much as he wanted to just show Kurt all the love he felt toward him he knew he couldn't. Kurt would just be freaked out and he would run away from Blaine. And Blaine, by no means, was going to let that happen. So he would keep his feelings for himself and let them destroy him from the inside out.
He climbed out of his bunk and headed outside.

Kurt sighed again and rolled on his bed. He had been trying to sleep but all his attempts were in vain. He just couldn't close his eyes for more than 5 seconds before remembering that Blaine was getting out. He shouldn't be this excited, Blaine was only a friend. Kurt was doing the right thing by trying to get him out of that horrendous place. Nobody deserved to live like that, much less Blaine.
Oh, there it was again. The feeling of guilt. He had been feeling guilty ever since he promised Blaine he would get him out. Why was he so special? Why couldn't he get all that people out too? Sure, he could only do so many things but why Blaine? Why did whatever kind of power up there had to put Blaine in his way? Anybody could've been there. Any kid could've been in the exact same place Blaine had been at the exact same time instead of Blaine. Would he had tried to get them out too? Or would he just be cruel and walk away? Of course he wasn't a bad person but when he saw that figure resting near the fence he felt a tug. Something was tugging him forward to that person. It was like something was pulling him toward Blaine. If it were anybody else, would he had felt that tug? Would he had been curious about who was that person or would he had just turned away and never even feel curiosity?
Kurt groaned. He had to stop thinking too much. All those thoughts were giving him a headache. He sat up in his bed and turned on the lamp. He took his pocket watch that was resting on his night stand and checked the time. 6 am. It was still too early to start getting ready. But he couldn't stand still. He had to do something.
He stood from his bed, tied his robe around his waist, put on a pair of boots and headed down the stairs. He needed to be in his special place for a while.
He arrived to the pond a few minutes later with an apple on his hand. He was glad that even if he had grown older he still had the ability to climb a tree. He had been really careful of course, he could never allow to get his silk pajamas ripped by a tree branch.
His clothes had become a really important part of his life. Clothes were his way of expressing who he really was. If he wasn't allowed to completely talk about who he was he would at least show it from another form other than words. His father had questioned his choices of clothing but he had shrugged it off and threw him a poor excuse about how his clothes were the kind of clothing that were cool at the moment. His father wasn't in touch with any young people except for himself and Quinn so he wouldn't notice, Quinn always covered for him so he was fine. Any time that his father was out and saw another boy with different clothes from Kurt's he would just think that the boy was not into the fashion of the moment for the guys. He sighed happily, thankful for his father's obliviousness.
He say down, resting his back on a tree that was right in front of the pond. He pulled his knees to his chest and took a bite of the apple. The juicy, sweet flavor of the apple was just what he needed. The fresh morning air was completely welcomed as it blew against his warm face. It had been too long since he last visited his secret place to just relax. The last time he had tried to be at the pond he had unburied a secret that his father had kept for who knows how long. One day he would tell his father about what he had seen. He would tell his father that his secret wasn't a secret to him anymore. And he would most probably tell him that he helped a Jew and his family get out of his dangerous and cruel claws. He didn't know how his father would react to the news but his mind was made. In the near future there would be no more secrets in his household. He was going to come out to his parents and he was going to tell his father all about Blaine and his feelings toward him. A tear rolled down his face, he knew that things wouldn't end up nicely with his father. He was going to lose his parents wasn't he? A sob escaped his throat but he held the tears that were threatening to fall. He finished eating his apple and turned his gaze toward the fence.
He saw a dark, small figure near the fence. And smiled brightly. Only Blaine could get a smile out of him when troubling thoughts were filling his head. He stood up and ran toward the fence, toward the person he loved more than anything.
