CHAPTER 12
The next day, Kurt woke up really early, earlier than anyone in the house and went into his father's office. He went straight to his desk. He had to do some research and he knew, from many times he had sneaked into this room when he was younger without his father noticing him, that he kept all of his most important stuff in his desk drawers.
He sat on the chair and opened the first drawer. There was a stapler, some pictures of his family. He had some random stuff. He went through several drawers until he found one drawer locked. This caught his attention. If it was locked that meant his father didn't want anyone to see what was inside of it, so it had to be information about the murders or about Jews. He looked in every single drawer again to look for the key but it was fruitless. He looked up with a sigh and rested his head on the back of the chair. Until... a glimmer of something came across his line of vision. He walked towards the picture of him, his father and his mom. At the back of the frame there was a tiny opening. He took the frame and opened the crack and there it was. A small silver key. He smiled in triumph. This had to be the key because it was really well hidden.
He ran to the desk again and kneeled in front of the drawer. He placed the key gently in the key-hole and opened the drawer. It was full of folders and papers. A shiver ran through his body when he saw a folder labeled 'Jews' deaths.' This was horrible his father didn't even care a little about these people. He was a cruel, coldblooded, crazy murderer. But he hadn't just killed a few people, oh no, he had killed thousand already and he wanted to kill many more. He shook his head and started going through the folders. Each and every one of these folders had information about the concentration camps, and what they did to Jews there and so much information that made Kurt feel sick. He had goosebumps all over his body. He spent for about an hour checking each folder until he found one that sounded interesting. It was labeled 'Oskar Schindler'. Why did this guy had anything to do with the Jews? Was he a Jew himself? Was he a Jew fugitive? So many possibilities and only one way to know. He opened the folder and he gasped at what he saw on the first page.
There was this picture of a man younger than 40. And across his face was written in big, red, accusative letters 'TRAITOR'. It was terrifying. He started going through the pages in the folder and smiled when he saw what was written. Oskar was 35 years old, he had an enamelware factory and all of his workers were Jews. After he witnessed the murder of many of the Jews that worked for him he decided he would help them.
His father was looking for this man because he was helping the people he wanted to banish from the world. This man... being a part of the Nazi party realized the damage his father was doing and decided to make the good thing and help all those innocent people.
He had to find Oskar and ask or even beg for his help. This man could be Blaine's only way out.
