It didn't happen like it did in the movies. The sun didn't rise out of the darkness of blues and blacks, cars didn't honk their horns in a good morning as the new day started. Birds didn't nestle on rooftops, flying away at the sound of a father's scream.

It was going to rain, the weather forecast had been warning people to begin putting chains on their tires because it looked like snow. The clouds were dark and angry, matching the bleak tone of the small town of Lima Ohio. The sun rise had looked murky through the ominous clouds and neighbors grumbled in frustration as they began the long list of preparations for winter‘s arrival. No one heard Burt Hummel's scream that day, not the neighbors or the cars passing by and defiantly not his uncurious son.

By the time the story left the hospital and made its way back to the residents of Lima, there was 2 different versions going around and neither was the truth. Becky called josh who called Jake who called his girlfriend Donna who had found the nerve to correct the story because had already spoken to Lilly who had heard from Craig that Kurt Hummel had tried Killing himself.

Who was Kurt Hummel?

This seemed to be the question of the day as McKinley mourned for the poor boy they never knew existed. Students escaped class to sit in the library and cry to the councilor who sat a safe distance away and tried to tame the loud sobs with her meek voice. If Kurt had been there he would have yelled in their faces, screamed until they looked at him and finally saw everything they had done. It would have been a wasted attempt seeing as no one could put a face to the name. Finally, some time after lunch, news got around that Kurt Hummel was the weird gay kid and suddenly the stories changed, emotions changed. One word seemed to shift how people felt. Kurt Hummel was gay, maybe he deserved to die and maybe hell didn't want him either.

After two weeks and no sign of the towns new target of talk, people began to move on. Nosey mothers still stopped by with food in hopes to see a sign of the fragile looking boy but all left in huffs after Burt Hummel spewed them the same speech that they had been getting along fine before women started dropping by on their porch and they would continue to get along just fine with out them. No one saw the boy, no one heard him cry or even made it past the front door to greet him. Kurt was utterly alone and he knew it.

I wasn't until the second week of November did the pale face boy find himself skirting around the school until he had his eyes set on the rickety old bleachers. No one questioned his presence as he found a space on the wall to lean against. There was something refreshing about morning air and a cigarette pressed to his chapped lips. A girl eyed him from a crate across the way, after a few minutes Kurt slid his ice like eyes to his curious admirer and waited with an arched brow.

"Are you Kurt Hummel?" He didn't answer just moved his eyes back to their previous spot on the sludge like grass. "Hey!" She called out as if he were stupid. "Are you Kurt Hummel?" He didn't bother flickering his eyes to catch the angry expression that was twisted on her cold dried face and instead let out a large puff of smoke the mingled with his condensed breath. "Damn idiot." A smirk twitched on his lips as the girls anger sent her marching out of eye sight.

Was he Kurt Hummel? He didn't feel like it. Sometimes you wake up in the morning and you stare at your wall wondering how you had gotten so lost in a life that didn't make sense. Sometimes you feel as if you can finally see the world so clear, you can see your self so clear and sometimes you don't like what you see. Was he Kurt Hummel? That was a loaded question.

"Shoot!" A deep voice brought Kurt out of his thoughts and for a few minutes the blue eyes worked to find the source of the voice. A crash to his left brought Kurt face to face with one Blaine Anderson. A few boxes hit the ground and the murky brown eyes looked around with an apologetic expression but everyone who was awake enough just glared in their grumpy state. "Kurt." The sigh of relief that followed his name piked interest but he was quick to hide it. A lungful of smoke cascaded around Blaine's overly friendly face and Kurt watched amused as he struggled to keep his face from dropping into a scowl at the distasteful smell. "I'm Blaine Anderson." A glove clad hand rose in Kurt's direction leaving one boy to stare expectantly and another to stare blankly at some other world over the corner of Blaine's shoulder. "I heard about your accident." Silence. "And I had thought you could use a friend." The pad of Kurt's hand rose to slide a thumb against the itch on Kurt's cherry colored nose before brining the cigarette back down to him mouth. "Or..or not.. Or maybe an acquaintance ?" Kurt rolled his eyes theatrically causing Blaine to sputter nonsense before they were engulfed in silence again. Another wave of smoke splashed a cross Blaine's face before the curly haired boy spoke. "I heard you use to be really against cigarettes."

"I use to be against a lot of things." Blue eyes flickered to Blaine's face in time to catch the surprised expression. The dead look that was etched so painfully beautiful in the swirls of blue and green made Blaine feel suddenly very young and out of place but that didn't discourage the boy from staying put. "I use to be against missing school, and late home work but look at me now. I use to be against taking pills to ease my pain. I didn't like the way they felt as they barreled down my throat, like I couldn't breath, like I was suffocating." The shrill voice was at a menacing whisper as the innocent looking face twisted into something dark. "but look at me now." A dark smile spread across Kurt's face as the bell chimed through the court yard from the school building not far off giving Blaine an excuse to make a quick exit after the extremely uncomfortable talk.

"I guess I'll see you around Kurt." The blank expression was back, blue eyes lost in a world no one else could reach. Blaine took wide strides that didn't get him very far at the speed he would have liked it to until he reached the school building.

"Was it him? What did he say?" An overly perky voice greeted.

"Give us the gossip hobbit. We want to spread it first." Hazel eyes looked behind him only to find Kurt still hadn't emerged.

"Sorry Santana, he wasn't in there." The blond and Brunette walked off in a sullen mood not catching the last glance Blaine threw over his shoulder before disappearing into the gloomy looking school.

End Notes: Reviews would me amazing.
