Everyone filed out of the choir room. Practice had officially ended half an hour ago, the guys had to split time with football, but everyone else liked to stay longer and hang out. Lucky Kurt and Mercedes were locker buddies, and Rachel was just a couple lockers down from them. They waved goodbye to Mr. Shue from their open lockers when he closed and locked the room.
"See you tomorrow guys." Turning back to their conversation, Kurt listened passively while Mercedes and Rachel, rather just Rachel, talked about her relationship with Finn.
"Well," Mercedes voice broke through, "are you ready to go Kurt. We could go get something to eat at Breadstix." Kurt pretended to think about it for a moment, he didn't want to hurt his friends by automatically saying no. He's always appreciated the effort that they've put in to keep him as social as possible. One day, he'll go out again but for now he promises to hang out Saturday. They'll have a movie marathon and a sleepover and eat junk food. They gathered their stuff up and headed out of the school when Kurt realized he'd forgotten something in his locker.
"I'll go back with you," Mercedes offered. Kurt told her it wasn't necessary. He should be okay with the football team at practice and it wasn't like he had to walk all over the school. "Ok. I'll see you tomorrow."
The three friends hugged and parted ways, Kurt turning back to the school. He walked calmly through the hall until he was at his locker opening it. He searched momentarily for the folder that held the information for his homework that was due the next day. While standing there he suddenly felt uneasy, like there was something dangerous just out of his sight. Instinctually he slowed his movements, all but freezing completely.
Kurt looked around moving his head lowly from side to side, When he didn't see anything, or anyone for that matter, he tried to slow his racing heart. He told himself he was just being paranoid; the same state he'd been in all week. Kurt cringed when he closed his locker, hard metal clinking closed sounding all around him. At least, that's what it felt like.
He stood at his locker a moment longer and looked up and down the hall he was in. Distant voices could be heard around the corner, in the same hall as the locker rooms. It wasn't an uncommon thing, several sports practiced after school and it was probably just the rest of the soccer team heading home. When the voices dissipated and no one had turned down the music hall, Kurt released a shaky breath not having realized he'd stopped breathing as he listened. Adjusting the strap on his shoulder, Kurt began walking towards the door, the school silent once more.
"Hummel" Kurt froze, standing close to the lockers on his left where his fingers had been brushing up against the cool metal while he walked. The desire to run out of the building was wrestling in his head with the idea that if he just stayed still he would be invisible. Without turning around, or even glancing behind him, Kurt knew that Karofsky was right behind him. There was electricity in the air, not the romantic kind that made your fingers tingle but the kind that warned your brain that something dangerous was very close. "Thought you could hide forever? Didn't think I'd find out where you'd disappeared to?"
Karofsky's voice sounded so close to Kurt's ear that he shrugged his head away as much as he could. Fear made it's way down his spine and took root in every cell in his body. He felt like a puppet, completely at the will of someone else no matter how hard he tried to be in control. Kurt didn't answer the other boys questions.
"Just let me go home." Kurt's voice was barely audible and shook with nerves. A hand came down on his right shoulder and gripped him tightly. Kurt could feel Karofsky's breath on his ear and down the side of his neck.
"Well I can't do that without giving you your present first." The malicious tone of Karofsky's voice made Kurt feel physically nauseous. He expected the tight grip on his shoulder to let go forcefully and shove him into the wall of lockers or for the other hand to come up and punch him. What he didn't expect was for the grip to get tighter and be turned in the other direction, less guided and more forced, he was led down the hallway, away from the doors that lead to his car which could take him home where he'd be safe.

Blaine got home from a long day that ended in working three hours later than usual. Kurt came flying up to his face before he was able to put his bag down. It had been two weeks since he'd discovered Kurt sitting on his dresser. Two weeks and somehow coming home to a fairy seemed normal. Kurt might not have been able to do much because of his size but he was always talking.
After a couple of nights watching Blaine come home with or order take- out, Kurt insisted on teaching him about cooking, only because he wasn't able to do it himself. Blaine had no trouble letting him. It took a while for Kurt to open up to him. When Kurt had brought up Blaine's take-out addiction, it was one of maybe two conversations he had started since the first time they'd talked.
Now Kurt was talking to him about the people watching he'd done during the day. One man had been so distracted by his phone that he almost ran into three other people and then a streetlight. Another person was walking their dog and it crapped on their shoe. Kurt was beside himself with that one, he wasn't sure if he should be mortified or laughing hysterically.
Blaine had dropped his bag next to the small table by the door and made his way into the apartment. Kurt flew right next to his head, slightly in front of him and talking his ear off. He'd moved on to what they were going to be eating. When Blaine hadn't responded much to Kurt, the boy stopped flying and Blaine nearly ran into him. Blaine looked into the curious blue eyes in front of him.
"Are you okay, Blaine?" Kurt crossed his arms in front of him while he hovered in place.
"Yea, just tired it was long day. You were saying something about food, right?" Kurt hesitated briefly before answering.
"I was just saying that, since you're home so late, you should order Chinese." Taking in the tiredness in the older man's eyes prompted Kurt to change his plans. If he had been able to cook himself than then there's no way he'd allow Blaine to order in but seeing how it was, he didn't want to push. Blaine sighed happily at the news and went tot the drawer under the microwave that held all of his take-out menus for the local restaurants.
After ordering, Kurt suggested they watch TV until the food arrived and then stick in a movie. It would take that long for the two of them to pick something to watch anyway.
"Kurt, you know I love The Notebook, but didn't we just watch it?" Kurt flew from the rack of DVD's to the small bookcase that contained, of all things, VHS tapes.
"I still can't believe that you have these." Kurt said as he landed on the shelf and began looking through them. "I still can't decide," he sighed after having walked passed them all twice. Blaine got up from the couch where he'd been sitting with his feet up on the coffee table and crouched down in front of the VHS's.
"How about...hmmm...Pinocchio? I haven't watched it in forever." He looked at Kurt as he pulled the tape off the shelf and looked over the cover. "Okay, yea, I haven't watched it in a long time either." Kurt replied happily.
"It is one of those movies you don't think to watch very often." Kurt's voice trailed off as he flew over to the couch and sat himself down on the armrest closest to the lamp. Blaine was just putting the movie in when the buzzer for the apartment went off. He walked over to the door and buzzing the take-out guy in. He walked back into the living room and clicked pause on the remote, you can't just skip the old previews, and grabbed his wallet off the coffee table.
Setting several white take-out boxes on the coffee table, Blaine grabbed the one with the pork fried rice and began eating, the movie starting. Throughout the opening previews he put some small pieces of food, at Kurt's choosing, on a plate which he then put on the side table.
Quiet settled over them as they became entranced in the movie. The only sound coming from the speakers and the sound of Blaine's fork scraping against the inside of the cardboard boxes. This had been, more or less, their routine. Kurt always sat on the arm rest that Blaine sat against so that they could talk while the watched TV or a movie.
Everything was fine until the part where the blue fairy shows up to turn Pinocchio into a real boy. In the middle of the scene, Kurt gasps. Blaine looks down at him from where to see his eyes wide open and rimmed with tears. Before he can really process what's happening, Kurt takes off.
