Author's Notes: I really can't apologise enough for taking so long to update this fic ... I guess Slow and Steady really was an apt title for it! There's more to come though in the near future, I promise ... a little more smut in this one - enjoy! :)
Saturday morning had arrived, and for whatever reason Kurt still felt a bundle of nervous excitement coiling in his chest at the thought of seeing Blaine again. The two had talked at length on Skype the previous evening, but Kurt had chosen to ignore Blaine's desperate pleas for him to go over there ... Blaine was taking care of Josh while Dana was still being kept at the hospital for observation, and Kurt felt that Josh would be much more comfortable with as much familiarity as possible right now. He was also a little scared that seeing him would instantly remind Josh of the last time he'd been in the same room as Kurt, and all of the trauma that went with it.

Kurt had, however, agreed to go over on Sunday morning, as Dana would have fully settled back in at home by then and was apparently asking to see him. Her flowers were already bought and sitting in a vase on the kitchen counter, with strict instructions to Rachel that she was not to touch, because they were not for her. He just hoped that she could keep her hands to herself.

The plan for the day was to do a little shopping for tonight's outfit and then meet Blaine for a late lunch before returning to one of their apartments, getting ready and heading to the bar together. But the best laid plans never worked out that well - the weather had turned for the worst, and a fairly heavy blanket of snow had covered much of the city overnight. Kurt was relieved to hear from Rachel that the gig hadn't been cancelled, but he couldn't help but worry about the poor turnout that would inevitably show up as a result of the weather. He didn't like the thought of his best friend and his boyfriend (was that official now? He still wasn't entirely sure) feeling let down by such a meagre crowd.

But to his relief, Blaine had also sounded happy to still have the distraction of the gig when Kurt had called him earlier - Dana was being released from the hospital that morning and Blaine was being the dutiful neighbour to a fault, taking on almost every burden that he possibly could in an effort to shelter his young friend from the harsh realities of adult life. Kurt just hoped that Blaine was still taking care of himself while doing that.

The shopping trip had been interesting to say the least - Kurt's fellow shoppers were trudging through the snow like the weight of the world was on their shoulders, and while he completely loathed the stuff, he simply didn't see the point in letting it spoil his day. So for the most part he'd spent the morning huffing exasperated 'Excuse me's and skipping over snow-drifts to get to where he needed to be. His favourite department store was of course heaving as usual - it appeared to be the very obvious choice for the die-hard shopaholics of New York City on a day like today, and while it was a struggle to get near some of the racks, Kurt simply thanked his lucky stars that he didn't have to wade through the womenswear department at times like this. Well, not usually, anyway.

Two hours later, Kurt was bundling his way through the doors of Roast, a large bag in each hand and wearing a satisfied grin despite the snowflakes resting in his hair and threatening to ruin the style completely. He ordered a grande non-fat mocha and slumped down at a table, slightly sad that 'their' comfy sofa was currently occupied.

"Well hey there, handsome." A familiar voice rang out behind him, and Kurt turned to greet his favourite barista as she breezed along with a trayful of coffee mugs.

"Hey, Linda!" He replied with a smile, still slightly breathless.

"Wow, someone looks tired. College work dragging you into the abyss?

"Uh ... yeah ..." Kurt winced, attempting to lie as he thought about how little he'd been focusing on his studies lately.

"Ooooh - or something else, perhaps. Or should I say, some-one?!"

"Maybe." Kurt grinned bashfully.

"Oh god, you've been running your fingers through those heavenly curls, haven't you ..."

Kurt let out a throaty laugh. "Might have."

"Oh, you're no fun!" Linda said, slapping Kurt's arm with the back of her hand and frowning.

"You're just jealous." Kurt laughed again.

"You're damn right, I am! That is one hot piece of man-candy you've got yourself, sweetie. Just do me a favour and never let him get away, OK?"

"I'm working on it." Kurt smiled.

Lunch had been fun, although Kurt had spent almost the entire time fussing over Blaine and his tired eyes. He'd insisted on buying all of their food, and plied Blaine with as much as he felt he could manage. Blaine had protested, but couldn't help but smile at the warmth and kindness that Kurt was showing him. They had chosen to walk back to Blaine's apartment, not wanting to risk an attempt at public transport in this kind of weather, and trudged arm-in-arm along the slushy sidewalk.

"God, I'm so full." Blaine groaned, squeezing Kurt's arm tightly, but missing the blush that crept across his cheeks. Kurt's mind was definitely on other things since Blaine had shown up for their lunch date in possibly the most figure-hugging red jeans that he'd ever laid eyes on.

"In a good way, I hope." He managed, hoping his voice didn't come out too pitchy.

"The best." Blaine nodded, realisation suddenly crossing his face as he began to smirk. "Why, Kurt? What other way could there possibly be?"

"Shut up." Kurt chuckled.

"No, no ..." Blaine grinned, turning around to face Kurt and almost falling flat on his backside in the process. "I want to know how there could ever be a bad way to be so ... completely ... full." He mouthed the last part particularly suggestively.

"Oh, I don't know ... when you explode?!" Kurt laughed, grabbing hold of Blaine's waist beneath his jacket and tickling him frantically for a moment. Blaine staggered backwards and wound up in a heap of snow on the corner of the sidewalk, clutching his sides and laughing hysterically.

"Oh my god, Blaine - get up!" Kurt laughed, as Blaine mimed making a snow angel.

"Why? Playing in the snow is fun." He laughed.

"Well ... you could be lying on top of a big pile of garbage or something." Kurt exclaimed.

"What the -" Blaine scrambled messily to his feet and stared in horror at the patch of snow he'd just vacated. Kurt snorted beside him. "Why would you say something like that?!"

"Because it was funny. And I wanted to see your finest wobbly-baby-penguin impersonation." Kurt grinned.

"That wasn't my finest." Blaine said drily. "And you're never gonna get to see that now, so there."

"Aww ...?" Kurt whined pleadingly.

"Nope. Sucks for you." Blaine said, sticking his tongue out and trudging ahead.

Kurt looked around to check that there weren't too many passers-by for them to crash into, and body-tackled Blaine into another patch of snow when he saw that the coast was clear. Blaine gasped and grabbed two fistfuls of snow, rounding on Kurt and smushing them into his face. Kurt looked horrified as the cold slush stung against his cheeks, and he fought Blaine's hands down to his sides before any more damage could be done.

"OK, now I really am about to explode." Blaine puffed. "Truce?"

"Fine." Kurt growled through gritted teeth, clambering to his feet and reaching out to pull Blaine up beside him.

Blaine tenderly brushed the damp hair and leftover snow from Kurt's brow and cheek, smiling gently as Kurt tried to maintain his look of indignation, even though he was inwardly loving what Blaine was doing. "Aww, baby ... I'm sorry." He pouted. Kurt simply shrugged and huffed under his breath. Blaine stroked along his cheekbone and down to his jaw. "Forgive me? Please?" The puppy-dog eyes were back and being used to full effect.

"Maybe. After I've used your shower."

"Done." Blaine nodded as he linked his arm with Kurt's again and dragged him off down the street.

When they arrived at the apartment, Kurt insisted that Blaine took the first shower, as he was shivering with such force that his teeth were chattering. Blaine had protested, but to no avail - Kurt Hummel was a very insistent man when he wanted to be.

"But Kurt - you're the one who got all that snow in your face." Blaine whined, half-laughing.

"Yes, but you're the one with the run-down body, and the incredibly tight pants stuck to your legs with ice-cold water."

"Ah, you like the pants, huh?" Blaine smirked.

"I never said anything about liking them." Kurt replied stoically.

"I think you do though. I think you really like them. Or maybe it's more what's underneath them that floats your boat."

"You have five seconds to get in the damn shower, Anderson." Kurt warned.

"OK, OK - I'm going!" Blaine said, stomping away and shrugging off his jacket, throwing it on the floor beside the bathroom door. He turned to face Kurt, noticing a flicker of a smirk crossing his lips as his eyes narrowed. Next he undid his scarf and threw off his hat, his gaze never leaving Kurt's as he realised what the striptease was beginning to do to him. He pulled his sweater over his head and Kurt's breath hitched in his throat as the t-shirt beneath rode up Blaine's ribcage. He straightened it back down as he threw the sweater onto the growing pile of clothes, fairly sure that Kurt had just let out a faint whimper as he covered himself up.

For a moment Blaine seemed to pause, having a battle with himself as to whether he should continue stripping the lower half of his body or simply dash off to get out of his freezing cold, wet things. He noticed Kurt swallow a particularly heavy gulp of air, and decided to press on a little further, slowly reaching down to his belt buckle and taking way too much time to get it undone and removed. Kurt was visibly flustered now, and Blaine was loving the attention his body was currently getting. He took hold of the buttons of his fly and popped them open one by one, desperate not to brush too hard against his semi-hard erection with his hand. Kurt was staring unashamedly at Blaine's crotch now, and his mouth had fallen open. And with that, Blaine strode as purposefully as he could manage into the bathroom.

The groan from outside made his stomach surge with pleasure, and something made him leave the door open as he somewhat painfully dragged his jeans, boxers and socks off his frozen legs. As he stepped towards the large shower cubicle he heard movement behind him and turned his head just as he stepped inside. Kurt, ever the neat-freak, had decided to pick up Blaine's discarded clothes and was crouched near the door. As he stood he glanced into the bathroom and caught Blaine's eye just before the shower door closed - and his heart stopped dead at the first real glimpse of Blaine's completely naked frame.

Kurt could do nothing more than drop the clothes he was holding on the arm of the sofa, and he gave himself a little shake, breathing 'Wow!' under his breath.

"Ah, shoot ... Kurt?" Blaine's voice echoed from the bathroom.

"Mmm-hmm?" Kurt answered, his voice again ridiculously high. He wandered tentatively into the room, thankful that the shower cubicle was made of frosted glass and therefore wasn't completely see-through.

"I forgot I'm out of shower gel. Could you maybe pass me another bottle from the cabinet?" He shouted again, unaware that Kurt was just a few feet away.

"Uh - sure." Kurt said, turning to the cabinet and hearing Blaine drop something in the shower, swearing under his breath. He turned back with the shower gel in hand and caught an outlined view of Blaine's rear end through the glass as he bent over to pick up whatever he'd dropped. He stood transfixed for a moment before Blaine's sheepish voice broke the silence.

"How long have you been out there?"

"Not long." Kurt answered, moving to the cubicle door and turning his back to it as he waited for it to slide open, holding out the gel bottle at arm's length. Moments later a warm wet hand clamped over his own.

"Thank you, Kurt." Blaine said, a smirk in his voice as he pulled Kurt's hand towards him through the gap in the cubicle door. Kurt instinctively turned, his eyes to the floor and eventually stared at Blaine's feet inside the shower. The scent of citrus shampoo filled the steamy air. "You know ... you could join me in here if you wanted to - to save on water? I'll even wash your back ..."

Kurt gave a slight smirk, still refusing to look up. "You'd like that, wouldn't you?" He smiled.

Blaine leaned in towards him, and Kurt could feel the steam rising from his body.

"I really would." Blaine breathed.

"I'm not sure, Blaine."

"Totally understood. I just hate to think of you catching a chill waiting for me." He grinned.

"I think I'll be fine." Kurt said, backing away and pulling the door closed behind him. He stood for a moment, noticing that Blaine didn't move either. And then something made him reach up to unbutton his shirt collar. He continued down the buttons, still feeling Blaine's eyes on him through the shower door, and shrugged the shirt from his shoulders, standing slightly to the side to remove the rest of his clothes. His body tingled with nervous energy as he moved back to the door and tapped gently on the glass. The door slid open and Blaine's slightly flushed face appeared, his hair slicked to his head in soft waves. He stared deep into Kurt's eyes.

"Hi." Kurt whispered. "Thought I might take you up on your offer after all."

"Be my guest." Blaine's face broke into a grin, and he moved away from the door.

Kurt tentatively stepped into the cubicle, shyly covering his modesty for a moment as he turned towards the shower head. Blaine was leaning against the wall, also seeming to momentarily toy with where to look. In the end there was just no getting away from it, and both men turned to face one another. Blaine had turned the shower head away from them, so for now Kurt was still almost completely dry, and he shuddered slightly as Blaine stepped towards him. His heart pounded in his chest as he took in Blaine's toned shoulders and arms as they glistened with moisture, a tiny pool having gathered in the cleft below his neck. He looked up, searching for Blaine's eyes, but found the other man raking them up and down his body. He blushed under the heated gaze.

"My god, you're beautiful." Blaine breathed. "Like ... seriously, Kurt. You're stunning."

"Well, thanks. You're not so bad yourself." Kurt breezed, allowing himself a moment to take in all of Blaine's physique and silently thanking Mother Nature for all that she had blessed him with.

The two men stood in silence for a moment and then burst out laughing, reaching out and taking one another's hands as they did so.

"This should not be this hard!" Blaine chuckled.

"I'll bet you say that to all the boys." Kurt replied coyly, and Blaine squeezed his hands tightly.

"Only the prettiest ones." Blaine breathed, leaning in to plant a soft kiss on Kurt's shoulder. Kurt shuddered again and rolled his head back to allow Blaine a little more access to his neck and collarbone. Before he knew it, Blaine was running his tongue up and down the side of his neck, catching his ear-lobe between his teeth on every upward stroke before plunging back down to his shoulder. Kurt let out a deep moan and felt Blaine's lips buzz against his neck.

"I just want to kiss you all over." Blaine sighed, moving around to Kurt's back and kissing along his shoulder-blades.

"We probably don't have time for ... ohhh god ... that today, Blaine. You have a gig soon, remember."

"Well, maybe I'll just stick to the short edit for now then." Blaine smiled into Kurt's neck, and then suddenly he was moving down his back, dropping to his knees as he planted kiss after soft kiss along Kurt's spine. Kurt's breath hitched as he felt Blaine's warm hands glide down his ribcage and settle on his hips. He found the dimples in the small of Kurt's back and licked very lightly at each of them in turn, and Kurt writhed again at the contact. Blaine couldn't resist a gentle kiss to each of Kurt's perfect ass cheeks before he rounded to the front of the cubicle, gazing up at him through his long lashes.

"You cold?" Blaine whispered.

"Some of me is." Kurt conceded. "Other parts, not so much." He glanced down for a moment to his twitching cock, which was now just inches away from Blaine's face.

Blaine ran a hand up the back of Kurt's leg, resting it on his thigh as he placed more kisses up the front of it, the soft hairs tickling at his lips. Kurt whimpered faintly as Blaine's mouth moved on to his hip-bone, licking and sucking on the tender flesh for a moment to illicit further heavenly noises. Blaine rose, running his other hand up the front of Kurt's leg and very tenderly brushing against his cock as he reached the top. The two men shared a weighted stare for a moment before Blaine leaned in and breathed heavily into Kurt's ear.

"We should probably get you a little wetter." He drawled, and Kurt could only nod as Blaine took his hands and walked him forwards a couple of steps. He turned and reached up to the shower head, gently angling it round until it was centred on Kurt's body, but taking care not to drown him in the process. Kurt's eyes rolled into the back of his head as Blaine rested his hands on his chest.

"Temperature OK?"

"Perfect" Kurt managed with a small nod.

"Could I maybe ... wash you a little, Kurt?"

Kurt opened his eyes wide and smiled slowly. "Just be gentle. I'm super-ticklish!"

"I promise." Blaine nodded with that familiar glint in his eye that always turned Kurt's legs to jelly. He grabbed a washcloth from the shelf in the corner and squeezed a small amount of shower gel onto it, rubbing it in with his index finger for a moment before pressing the same finger to Kurt's nose. Kurt giggled shyly.

"You're such a clown."

Blaine wiggled his eyebrows a few times and then set about cleaning Kurt with the washcloth, his smooth strokes doing all kinds of wonderful things to the body he was caressing so tenderly. Kurt was completely at his mercy, both insanely relaxed and equally turned on to the point of sheer agony, every touch sending him more and more into a euphoric trance.

"I still want to know how you got to be so perfect." Blaine sighed as he stroked the washcloth down one of Kurt's arms.

"Blame my parents." Kurt whispered, his eyes tightly shut and his lips curving into a wry smile. "I was born this way, baby."

"Ohh, I love it when you call me baby." Blaine groaned, pressing his body close to Kurt's and feeling a thrill from head to toe as their erections ground together. The ecstatic cry Kurt let out echoed around the room and made Blaine's head spin. Kurt clutched onto his biceps and dug in.

"Jesus, Blaine.” Kurt gasped. “I'm ticklish, remember?"

"Of course. Sorry ..." Blaine smirked, "I'll be more gentle." He looked down, taking the washcloth and very slowly moving it up Kurt's length. It twitched eagerly and Kurt let out a delicious moan. Blaine sank his lips down onto Kurt's clavicle and nibbled at the tender flesh, intensifying the strokes and making Kurt's chest heave. His breaths were rapid and shallow, and he knew he wouldn't be able to hold out much longer against the onslaught of Blaine's hand and lips.

"Blaine, b-baby ... do you have another washcloth?"

Blaine paused for a second, his eyes dark and lustful as he realised what Kurt was suggesting. He bit his lip and looked around frantically before shaking his head.

"No matter." Kurt murmured, running his hand down his body before setting it just below Blaine's belly-button, playing with the hairs he found there. "I guess I'll just do it myself."

Blaine sucked in a deep breath as Kurt's hand settled over his cock and tugged gently. He caught the other man's gaze and ghosted his lips over Kurt's.

"Well, if we're being cloth-less ..." He breathed, releasing Kurt's erection reluctantly and throwing the washcloth against the wall with a wet slap. He grabbed hold of Kurt's pulsating cock a little more forcibly this time, and the two men began to stroke one another in perfect unison. Kurt sank his mouth down onto Blaine's, biting and sucking on his bottom lip. Blaine slid his tongue along Kurt's upper lip, all the while fisting him more and more eagerly, and soon the room was filled with breathless gasps and groans and the muffled slaps of skin against skin.

"You're gonna make me come, Kurt." Blaine growled into Kurt's mouth.

"I know." Kurt grinned, a wicked gleam in his eye. "Pretty cool, huh?"

Kurt continued to pump his fist eagerly, reaching around Blaine with his other hand and clutching on to his ass cheek. His fingers dug in and Blaine threw his head back.

"Oh my fucking ..."

The last word was no more than a dry, gasping gulp as Blaine came over Kurt's belly, and as Kurt glanced down to watch the amazing sight he felt his stomach coiling too. Within seconds both men were sticky, shaky and completely breathless, and they sank to the floor in a tangled heap of limbs.

"Jesus." Blaine gasped when he eventually caught his breath. "Can't we just stay here forever and just keep doing that?"

"We'll both turn into prunes." Kurt teased, taking hold of Blaine's hand and running his fingers over the wrinkles appearing in Blaine's.

"Happy prunes though, right?" Blaine smiled.

"Absolutely." Kurt sighed contentedly. "And somewhat messy." He added, looking down at the white streaks still stuck to both of their bodies.

"The best kind of showers are the ones where you need to take another one right after." Blaine mused with a wink, groaning as he dragged his shaky body up off the shower basin and grabbed the discarded washcloth. "You know, you should really be returning the favour and doing this for me." He smirked as he put a little more shower gel on the cloth and wiped it over his chest under the shower stream.

"More fun just watching." Kurt replied, leaning back and gazing at Blaine's body as he continued to clean himself off.

"Well - I think my body really has had just about enough water for one day." Blaine chirped, reaching out for Kurt's hand and dragging him to his feet. "You gonna stick around in here for a little while?" He asked, kissing the end of Kurt's nose and stroking the side of his face lovingly.

"Think so." Kurt nodded with a gentle smile. He brushed his lips against Blaine's for a few seconds, and suddenly Blaine was searching past his teeth again with his tongue. After one long, slow sweep of one another's hot mouths, Kurt pulled away making Blaine whine.

"Out - now, prune!"

Blaine pouted and shuffled towards the door, dragging his hands one last time over Kurt's naked torso before losing contact and making his way from the cubicle.

"Miss you already!" Blaine's voice called childishly from somewhere near the towel rack.

Kurt laughed and took a moment to say a tiny, excited 'Oh ... my ... god!' quietly to himself before continuing with his shower. The last thing Blaine heard as he left the room was the lilting sound of Kurt singing Love Shack, which made him giggle and groan all at the same time.

Huggin' and a-kissin'
Dancin' and a-lovin'
Wearing next to nothing
‘Cos it's hot as an oven
The whole shack shimmies
When everybody's movin'
Around and around
And around and around ...

End Notes: I know the boys are being pretty shy and silly, but I hope everything is sounding realistic enough. They're just sweethearts, after all ;)

I absolutely loved the shower scene! I was hoping Kurt would give in and get in. Really sweet and HOT!

Haha - thank you. I'm really pleased you liked it :)
