Kurt woke up to an empty bed and the smell of pancakes drifting through the opendoor. This is what he loved about Saturdays. Blaine made it his priority to wake up before Kurt, giving him enough time to make them both breakfast. It happened every weekend, but the smileon Blaine's face never failed to make Kurt's heart melt.Kurt slid off the bed and onto the wooden floor of their apartment, then padded hisway to the kitchen.
The sound of Blaine singing Banana Pancakes to himself made Kurt smile."Good morning," Kurt muttered, still half asleep.
"You're up early."
"Well, I couldn't sleep with all the noise coming from in here," Kurt teased.
"Oh Kurt, I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to wake you, I was trying to be quiet. I-"
"I'm kidding. Calm down." The fact that Blaine was still unable to catch on to hissarcasm amazed him.
The look of relief washed over Blaine's features, and his shoulders relaxed. "Oh,right." Kurt leaned forward and placed a kiss on the corner of his mouth, making him blush.
He walked over to the other end of the counter to make a pot of coffee. "Beat you to it." Kurt watched as Blaine pointed over to the kitchen table where two cups of coffee sat. A medium drip and a grande nonfat mocha. Kurt sighed. "I love you." The words rolled off his tongue as he picked up the coffee and began sipping it gently.
"I love you too." Kurt closed his eyes at the words. He remembered a time when he believed no one outside his family would ever say that to him. Even his friends from glee club were a littlehesitant. Now, ten years later, he heard it countless times, and was able to say it back.
"So, whatare we doing today?" Kurt knew the answer, he just loved hearing it.
Blaine smiled. "I was thinking we could go check on Katharine and take her out to lunch."
They had known Katharine for about eight months now, and had developed astrong friendship throughout that time. She was their surrogate. Kurt and Blaine had decided about a year ago that they wanted a child, and adoption was out of the question. They wanted achild that was a part of them, and Kurt insisted that the baby should be a part of Blaine. Katharine had wavy, light brown hair and blue eyes. She was about Kurt's height and had a healthy physique. Blaine had said that if Kurt were a girl, he would look like her, which was true, they could've been brother and sister.
That had influenced their decision quite a bit, but when Kurt found out that Katharine was a nutritionist, he was sold. This guaranteed that Katharine would take care of herself while she was carrying the baby, and that was Kurt and Blaine's top priority. They were so thrilled with how fast they had chosen their surrogate, that they met with her the next day, wanting to get started as soon as possible.
Kurt and Blaine had eaten breakfast and had both taken a shower. They were getting dressed when they heard a knock at the door and Blaine rushed down the hall to answer it. Kurt heard the front door open, but didn't hear any talking. He cautiously peeked his head out their bedroom door to see Blaine closing the door, and returning with a paper in his hand and a confused expression on his face.
"What is it?" Kurt asked worriedly.
"Um, I-...it's a letter." Blaine handed the sheet to Kurt. Kurt eyed Blaine for a fewseconds before looking down at the small slip of paper in his hands.
I think Kurt would like to know what you did last night.
"Um...Blaine? Is there something you're not telling me?" Kurt looked at Blaine suspiciously.
"I think you'd better sit down...just in case." Blaine led him over to their bed and sat down, motioning for Kurt to sit next to him. Kurt hesitated, then sat down putting a bit of space between them.
"Blaine, you're scaring me. What's wrong?" Kurt was getting anxious.
"I was going to tell you this last night, but you know...I got distracted." Kurt blushed remembering the night before, and the marks left on his neck. "After work yesterday, one of my coworkers and I-...well, we were the only two left in the office, everyone else had gone home." Blaine paused taking in a deep breath. "He...came on to me."
"He what?" Kurt didn't believe what he was hearing, Blaine had always beenhonest and faithful to him but...what if he was wrong?
"Kurt, please. I told him to stop as soon as it started, I told him that I was spoken for. Kurt, please." Blaine had tears coming down his face, the hurt expression on his face proved to Kurt that he was telling the truth.
"Shh. It's okay. I believe you, don't worry." Kurt scooted closer to Blaine and wrapped his arms around him, pressing kisses in his hair. "What happened after that?" Kurt's curiosity got the best of him.
"I left. I didn't stop running until I was in the elevator coming up to the apartment." Blaine buried his head into Kurt's neck. "I'm so sorry, Kurt." Kurt rubbed soothing circles into Blaine's back, trying to calm him down.
"No, don't apologize. It's okay." Kurt hated it when Blaine apologized, because usually it was about stupid stuff like burning the pancakes or forgetting to turn off the television when they left the house, and because the look on Blaine's face was heartbreaking. Kurt pulled away and grabbed a box of tissues. "Here." Blaine grabbed a couple of tissues from the box and began wiping his eyes and nose. "Lets go pick up Katharine, and forget this ever happened, ok?" Blaine nodded and leaned up and kissed Kurt desperately, making him moan. He whimpered when Blaine pulled back grabbing his hand and pulling him into the bathroom where they could continue getting ready.
An hour later they were in the car headed over to Katharine's apartment. They had called her earlier to make sure she was still available for lunch. She was, of course. They had been having lunch with her every Saturday for the past five months so that they could be informed of anything new that she'd been experiencing. Of course the important things, like the baby's first 'kick', they were informed of immediately, and every few weeks or so, Katharine would go in for an ultrasound and both Blaine and Kurt were present. She had yet to miss one single lunch date since the beginning, and neither had they.
They reached her apartment and called her to tell her they were parked outside. She came out two minutes later and Kurt got out to open the door for her and help her get in thecar. She was dressed casually in grey shirt with a red hooded jacket paired with skinny jeans and brown boots. Her hair was down and she had a grey beanie positioned slightly back on the top of her head. Every she saw them, a giant smile spread across her face, making her glow.
"How's your week been?" Blaine asked, as he does every weekend.
"Fantastic! She keeps getting more and more excited to meet you two. Every time I talk about you guys she nearly kicks a hole in my stomach." Even though it seemed impossible, her smile grew bigger. "What about you guys? Anything interesting happen?"
"It's been good, for the most part." Blaine paused, looking at Kurt, Kurt nodded and Blaine continued. "We received a letter this morning that kind of...shook us up, but it's all been straightened out."
"Well, I'm glad to hear it. Is it anything I should be worried about?" Her smile had disappeared and was replaced with worry.
"No, it was just...work complications, that's all." Blaine frowned a little. "It's nothing to worry about."
"You didn't get fired did you? 'Cause I know how that boss of yours has been giving you trouble."
"No, it wasn't my boss, just a horny coworker." Kurt flinched at his words.
"Well, I hope he stops." She offered a small smile, and then the subject was dropped. Which Kurt was very thankful for. "So, where are we having lunch?"
"I was thinking maybe the little vegan restaurant I saw the other day near central park. I forgot the name of it, but I know where it is." Kurt knew how strict her diet was, so he always made sure the restaurant had healthy options.
"Sounds good to me."
When they arrived, Blaine helped them both out of the car and they all walked inside the small restaurant. They were greeted by a woman who led them to a booth next to a window that had a great view of Central Park. They each ordered water, and settled into smooth, easy conversation.
About thirty minutes later, they had received their meal and Kurt was telling Katharine about an outfit he saw at Macy's the other day. Blaine was sitting back, letting them discuss things he had little interest in, when the door at the front of the restaurant opened. He barely had time to register who it was until he was standing at the end of their table, giving Blaine a devil-ish grin.
"Sebastion." What the hell was he doing here?
"Hello, Blaine. Weird seeing you here, isn't it?" The grin had yet to leave his face.
"Blaine, honey, who's this?" Kurt said, breaking his conversation with Katharine.
"Um...this is Sebastion...Sebastion Smythe. He's one of my coworkers." Blaine kept his eyes on the ground, unable to look neither Kurt or Sebastion in the eyes.
"Oh, well it's nice to meet you Mr. Smythe. I'm Kurt, Blaine's boyfriend." Kurt made sure to put emphasis on that particular word. "I'm sorry, but we're discussing very personalmatters, so I hope you wouldn't mind eating at a different table."
"Nice to meet you too, Kurt. Actually, I just saw Blaine through the window, and I just had to come in and see if he was okay, work was pretty...hectic yesterday." Sebastion smirked at Blaine who had his eyes trained on his water.
"I'm fine." The harsh tone of Blaine's voice made the other three jump. The last time he had used that tone of voice was when Karofsky had threatened to kill Kurt, and it scared Kurt, even now. "I'd really appreciate it if you'd leave." Blaine glanced up at Sebastion who remained seemingly oblivious.
"Well, I was just making sure." Sebastion stepped back, his grin faltering.. "You guys have a nice day." Kurt watched him closely as he walked out the door and down the sidewalk.
"Umm..okay? Weird." Kurt smiled slightly at Katharine's words. "Anyway, I was saying..." The words were covered up by his own thoughts. What is up with the Sebastion guy, can't he take a hint? Why was Blaine so furious? "Kurt, are you even listening to me?"
"What?" Kurt was drawn out of his daze. "Yeah, sorry. What were you saying?" Katharine continued talking like nothing had happened. She obviously hadn't made the connection. Kurt did his very best to remain focused on his conversation with Katharine, and luckily, he was able to do that.
The ride home was, for the most part, silent. Every once in a while, Katharine would make a comment about how excited she was about the baby, or something about clothes. Kurt would always respond with a short and polite answer so she wouldn't catch on to his growing anger.
When they arrived at her house though, she insisted that Kurt help her up to her apartment. He didn't understand why though, because she didn't have to take any stairs or anything of that nature, but she insisted.
Kurt walked with her to the elevator, and they both stepped inside. When the doors closed behind them, she asked, "Okay, so what's going on?"
"I don't know what you mean? Nothings going on." Kurt was a terrible liar.
"Don't think I didn't notice the tension in the car on the way over here. I know something happened."
Kurt sighed. "That guy back at the restaurant was the horny coworker Blaine was talking about."
"Oh. My. God. Kurt, I'm so sorry. Gosh, I'm so stupid. I should've figured it out."
"It's fine. I actually wish I was just as oblivious." Kurt forced a smile.
"Oh Kurt-" Before she could continue the doors slid open revealing a man in a suit that stepped into the elevator. Katharine sighed "We'll continue this conversation later."
Kurt hoped they wouldn't. He really didn't want to talk about it at all, he didn't even want to think about it. He just wanted to crawl into his bed and sleep. He didn't even feel like confronting Blaine about it. What was wrong with him? He wasn't supposed to be acting this way. Usually, every time something started bothering him, Blaine was the first to know. But this was different somehow.
Kurt rode down the elevator with all these thoughts racing through his head, nearly missing his chance getting off, but the bell signaling the opening of the doors broke his focus. He took his time getting to the car though, still trying to make sense of all his random feelings.
When he got to the car, Blaine was focused on the steering wheel. His eyebrows were knitted together, and a almost pained expression was on his face. He opened the car door and got inside, breaking Blaine from his trance. "Hey.Sorry it took so long, she wanted to show me some things she got for the baby." Kurt paused, realizing something was wrong. "Are you okay?"
Blaine looked up and raised his eyebrows. "What? Oh! Yeah, I'm fine. I was just thinking." He flashed Kurt his prize winning smile.
"Are you sure?" Kurt didn't believe him. The only times he got that look on his face was when he was seriously upset with something, and it had been ages since Kurt had seen it. "You looked upset."
"Kurt, I'm fine. Let's go home, I'm tired." Blaine leaned over and kissed Kurt's lipsbefore started the car and heading home.
When they got home, Kurt made them some warm milk while Blaine started amovie, which happened to be The Little Mermaid. Good. A happy movie was manageable. He wondered what would happen if they watched a sad movie like Titanic or Moulin Rouge. They always made him cry, and brought up emotions that he'd rather not deal with right now.
Blaine walked into the kitchen a few minutes later to find Kurt leaning against thecounter with his eyes closed. He made sure not to make a sound as he slowly walked up to himand wrapped his arms around Kurt's waist. He began peppering tiny kisses up his neck andalong his jawline, finally settling on nibbling at his earlobe. This received whimpers from Kurt and a sharp buck of his hips.
Blaine lowered his hands until they were settled on Kurt's waist, holding it in place while he sucked on the sensitive spot right below Kurt's ear. Kurt gasped when Blaine's warm hands untucked his shirt, slipped underneath it, and trailed up his back, finding yet another sensitive spot. Kurt grabbed Blaine's face with both hands and forced their lips together. The kiss was needy and desperate, but was so full of passion, it nearly brought tears to both men's eyes.
That night, the movie was forgotten. All their worries were washed away as theyshowered each other in feathery kisses. They ended up falling asleep on the couch, cradlingeach other in their arms, content with staying there as long as they possibly could. They woulddeal with the day's troubles tomorrow. Now though, they were going to enjoy the peace andquiet.
While it lasted...
